Are you the lady who sat across the dinner table from us at the USMC birthday ball? The one who loudly exclaimed "OMG, You're not actually going to EAT that, are you?" as 3 at our table were served prime rib..... 'zat you, Darlin'?

I have a plan, hope I stick to it. Since I will be away from TV I have to adjust my workout routine. Plan what you'll eat and you'll eat what you plan. I know it sounds boring , but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Enjoy the day.

I think I'll be good for Thanksgiving - only because I will be just getting off a cruise and will need a few days to digest all that food. (Burp)

I am not a lady. Ha! Zat not me. And, no, I would never make such a comment to anyone, especially at the occasion of a birthday ball. That was just plain rude! It's never my intention to be rude, I just hapen to be very opinionated on this subject. Health and nutrition is my hobby.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. It doesn't sound boring to me. It sounds like you have a very smart plan. Think positive and always remember: After the "big" meal of the day, there will likely be another meal or snack in about 4 or 5 hours. I often need to remind myself of this fact so as not to eat like it's the last meal I will ever have.

Hmmmm, not sure what we are eating for Thanksgiving yet. We are renting a place for Thanksgiving week in TV so we can pick out all the stuff for our new place which we are actually going to start to build. WooHoo! Being not in our own home at that time, not really knowing what is or not available to whip up a Thanksgiving meal, I don't think we will be having one. So, guess that is healthy, right? And then on Black Friday while everyone is out shopping we will be meeting with our design consultant or whoever they set you up with to set everything in writing of our choices. For us, yes, a very different Turkey Day, but a beginning of a new future home which should be ready in a few months!

I actually agree with you. Besides, I have some food allergies that restrict my consumption of dairy and gluten ~ and I enjoy real food too much to resort to over-processed, chemical laden, high sodium, high sugar, high cholesterol unhealthy products.
Last Thanksgiving I had fresh wild salmon, baked yams, fresh green beans, salad, fruit, wine ~~ :beer3:

If anyone is looking for a place to cut back, there's no need to have both stuffing and bread at the same meal. And no need to have both sweet potatoes and mashed (white) potatoes with gravy. Green beans could replace corn. And it's always good to have a big salad.
I once went to a Thanksgiving dinner where the hosts put the above ideas into practice. All the guests appreciated it (for health reasons) and the hosts didn't have to work as hard to get the meal ready. There was stuffing, sweet potatoes, Italian green beans, a big salad and perhaps one or two other low calorie items. Pie and coffee was served about one hour later. It was very enjoyable and not gut-busting. (This year I'll skip the coffee and just have some fruit for dessert.)

That sounds familiar. I can remember having a few Thanksgivings without any special fixings. It was just like any other day and I survived!
Welcome to TV and good luck with your future home.

That may be a good thing. I don't think you need those items to be healthy. And you may be healthier without them.

The way I look at making choices ... is taking control over addictions (sugar, fat, salt, smoking, etc.) It's entirely possible but ya gotta wanna

That made me laugh out loud when I read that. It amazes me how some people seem to not have a 'filter' when it comes to speaking what they're thinking. :loco:
