Just spotted this on MSN.

Apparently, yesterday, in Hudson Florida, a 79 year old widow's home was sucked down into a sinkhole. Ironically, she was having her home evaluated for the possibility of sinkholes; the crews were actually surveying her property when the sinkhole opened up and swallowed her "sun room" and several other rooms........supposedly, it was a massive sinkhole.

Click on hyperlink below for photo and info.........Hudson is on West Coast of Florida.

Sounds more like "catastrophic ground collapse" to me - according to the definition:

As long as she's got a homeowners insurance policy in force - even without sinkhole coverage on it - she'll be covered.

Catastrophc ground collape is what many insurance companies cover. If you want sinkhole coverage that will cost you more. what hppen to this woman in Hudson is an excellent example of the type of loss an insurance company will pay without question. It was sudden, it is visible, it damaged the house and the house is uninhabitable.

Catastrophc ground collape is what many insurance companies cover........

For clarification, insurance companies are actually required to provide this coverage as part of any homeowners policy in FL:

627.706 - Sinkhole insurance catastrophic ground cover collapse definitions. - 2010 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate (http://www.flsenate.gov/laws/statutes/2010/627.706)

I have read that Pasco County is one of the worst for sinkholes, etc.
