Anybody notice Bill's popcorn is cold? I think he and Brillo may be in the darklight in Ohio after that big storm. I read 2/3 of OH was without power at one point. I called some friends up there west of Columbus and they were out a couple of days.
Let's hope they're OK. Trees are down.

i would think he has a generator like we do, cause we lose power on a bi weekly basis

You guys are amazing! I swear I could die in my house and my neighbors wouldn't notice the absence unless it directly affected them! Wow!

Trouble is after a few hours it runs out of gas and with no power the gas stations can't pump gas to refill the tank. Ask me how I know this!
I'm used to long outages because of hurricanes so I converted my generator to natural gas and just hook it up to the gas line and never have to fill it. Sure makes the neighbors jealous though!

He is in the dark up there in his part of Ahia. He messaged us from out of the area where he could get a signal. He has a generator to keep stuff cold in his fridge. He said they had some strong winds. His place is undamaged.
He and Sandy are great Ohio peeps.

Thanks Gracie. I just got a message from my secret source that also confirms yours and was told they might not have power for 8 more days. They have been near 100 degrees up there this week. Nice to be in the cool South!
It was only 95 here today!

Glad to hear Bill and Sandy are OK with no damage to their home.
I'm thinking he is not on-line as his modem may have gotten fried seeing that he has a generator.
Just sayin.........

Even with generator power he would still have to have a working signal line like phone line or cable and those are probably down and out as well. You know he'd be on here if he could!

:agree: I forgot about the phone lines.
I became very concerned for Bill and Sandy.

What a nice thread, CaptJohn. And here's some good news. I spoke with Bill earlier this evening. His power is back on! Probably has some popcorn poppin' as we speak.
Gee, I hope Bill comes on TOTV tonight to see this thread. If not, guess one of us should pop, I mean bump it when he's back online so he will see that he was missed. I wonder if his ears are popping?

Hey..................thanks for everyone's thoughts and concerns. Yep, storm blew through here (and points east) Friday around dinner time and really tore things up. Lots of trees down and consequently power lines go down with them - it's a very rural area. We were fortunate - no damage to the house or property, just an hour or so worth of 'Pick-Up Sticks' along the creek where the trees are and the place is looking back to normal. Much luckier than many, many other folks - houses and vehicles damaged by fallen trees, etc. I believe there was only one reported death that I heard about in the area. 82 mph wind gust reported in NW Columbus during the height of things. NASTY NASTY STORM! And another storm just went through here a couple of hours ago! We can't catch a break, it seems......
So yes, we've been without power since Friday evening.....and the land line including the DSL hit the dirt as well. Projections by the power company were that all power in our area would be restored by July 8th - no fun at all! We do have a permanently installed generator which takes care of the power necessities for the house.....except it's not large enough to handle the a/c compressor so we've been "kinda warm". What's the chance of having a lengthy power outage in the middle of run of 90+ degree days? Oh well!! :) But someone must've pulled our straw out of the bundle early as our development now has the power back on. Not so lucky for most all surrounding areas - the power company crews and the tree companies really have their work cut out for them. Last report I heard on the news was that there were still over 400,000 outages in the greater central OH area. It continues to be very hard to fathom - we were very, very lucky.
Thanks again for the thoughts and concern - very much appreciated!! :a040:
And just to confirm - the microwave IS hooked up to the breaker box that's powered by the generator.......you KNEW it would be! :pepper2:

Bill
Nothing up this way in the Akron area. Not even enough rain to wet the sidewalk at my house in Uniontown. I could hear the lightening to the south of us in the Canton area and points south but nothing here. We need a few days of slow rain as everything is burning up. Other than being hot it has not been that bad as it will be in the 90's for a couple of days and then drop to the 80's or even 70's. Along with the drop in temp comes a drop in dew point and that makes things livable.

Yeah, come on, Bill ! Get some of that popcorn going !
Great to hear that you are OK.
Losing power is no fun, even with a generator. We were out for 66 hours during one of the two major storms we had last year.
