Does anyone know why there were two baby wild boars on the corner of Canal and Bonita?

Could not believe my eyes!! has anyone seen them around? I wanted to stop to take a pic but there was too many carts around and I couldn't pull over.

I know there are wild boars in the high brush on Hibiscus golf course in Cane Garden.
Were they cute?

Are wild boars dangerous? Do they have tusks? We have some danged strange flora and fauna around here.

They're not wild boars. I talked to a man yesterday who saw them on the golf course. He thinks they are probably pot-bellied pigs (pets) that decided to take a walk. They came over to his cart begging for food. Two animal control officers were trying to catch them.

We've just seen them this morning (though I thought they were baby pigs) - a white one and a grey one on a lawn on the right hand side just before you get to Pendleton on the way to Bogart & Bacall. They stopped to cross Canal Street and then changed their minds and went back onto the lawn. I just called Villages 24 hour dispatch number and they said they would send someone out. (This is Monday 24th Sept).

My message above said 11.21 but this is actually 7.20 am! They looked very cute - no tusks or anything and didn't look fierce at all! Hope they don't hurt them!

No they didn't look like wild boars at all - they looked like little fat baby pigs - they were lovely! Nothing to worry about with them. I just wish I had taken my camera out when dog walking this morning.

I saw these same two pigs on the corner of Bonita and Canal Sunday at approx 4:30 pm. They looked like the 30 lb pigs described in the op. I was hoping the wild boar infestation hadn't reached the Villages but they were quite small and I have no idea what species they are.

They could be looking for the Winifred bear.

If they were in fact wild boars, they would go well with pappardelle pasta and a sauce with porcini mushrooms, called Cinghiale in Italy. Guess I have been in Italy too long...

Sanibel here I come..........

A couple years ago we were on I-10 West of Tallahassee and I spotted a small herd (maybe 7 or 8) of pot belly pigs munching grass in the South side right of way. A few miles later I stopped for gas. A Hwy Patrol car was in the station and I told the officer about the pigs - he didn't seem surprised, just made a call and went on his way.

Might be an opportunity to open a "Hoggers"-type business in TV.

Perhaps the Morses will consider a new model in the Villages....the Strawhouse.

A few years back, didn't they have a lottery, to be chosen to eradicate (spelling?) BOARS at Cane Garden on Hibiscus?? They were messing up the greens with their horns, looking for grubs, etc. I'm pretty sure, hunters were chosen to eliminate as many as possible at night!! Maybe someone knows more then I do? I was told this on Mens day a few years back:mmmm: Must have been a lot of bacon that day!!

I saw them at the starter shack at Bacall/Bogart two days ago. A couple of us took pictures of them. They were friendly and not afraid at all. They wandered off onto Bacall course.

I saw them two days ago in front of starter shack at Bacall/Bogart late afternoon. Took pictures of them. Several golf carts and cars stopped to watch them. They wandered onto Bacall course.

We had a wild bore back in Cincinnati who always pinched girls behinds and wore lampshades at the New Years Eve party at the club.
