Not something I will miss dealing with. Interesting this storm coincides with the 35yr anniversary of the Blizzard of '78. Something like 3' of snow in CT back then and I spent 3 days at the firehouse. Schools, businesses and roads all shut down. Best wishes to all the emergency service providers as I know all too well what they will have to deal with. Stay safe!

I also survived the 'Blizzard of '78' 35 years ago when the Boston area got over two feet of snow along with hurricane force winds. The greater Boston area was totally shut down for a week, including the airport and all major roads. My advice to Joe; get on the next plane out of there.

I remember the storm of 78. I believe it snowed 16 inches on Tuesday and after digging out of that, we got another 17 inches on Thursday.
A co-worker of mine didn't come to work for a week. When asked why, he said I live in Brooklyn and everytime I dug out , they plowed me in. He must have had rights to selling the Brooklyn Bridge. :D

Looking at 24" where I am at. That's the bad news, the good news is that it is much colder here than at the coast, so it will be light and fluffy to remove. I just love how far I can get my snowblower to shoot the white stuff though the air.

My family and friends are all near Albany, NY so they will be dealing with a lot of snow. Packing to move to Gilchrist .. Came across pictures of my 2 year old (2/78)standing next to the slider ... The snow was 3 feet over her head! We were in Southington, CT, in a raised ranch. The drifts made it impossible to get out of the house. The drift at the driveway side went above the garage doors to the bdrm window. We shoveled from and into the garage to get thru the drift .... In GA now, can't wait to move farther south!

Massachusetts and Connecticut got the worst of it......for sure.
I'm glad you still have power. I would have hated to lose our oil furnace.
Hubby just got back in from snowblowing the driveway which is on a steep incline/decline and said it was only about nine inches at the most. No drifting here where we are in southwestern Vermont. He then power shoveled the front steps and front porch...........and threw down ice melt all over the driveway............our neighbor had offered to plow us out but we're early birds and my husband decided to just go out and get it over with...........it's already melting.
The town salt trucks and sanders and plows came down our road at 5 a.m........hubby got out there shortly after 6 a.m.
Not to diminish the powerful blizzard (winds, drifting, accumulation) for the coastal states.........but this snowfall was what we would call "small stuff" compared to the ones we'd get much more frequently while raising our children. They didn't call snow days off from school unless it was a true blizzard back then..........as daily snow was just a fact of life in Vermont.
But we know our grandson up in northern Vermont is really going to get to finally enjoy his LLBEAN sonar tube which is huge.........for sledding. All the kids will have fun today, for sure. Not to mention the skiiers. Our 56 year old neighbor across the road just left to go up into the mountains to ski...........(last year was practically snowless in Vermont and very unusual, so all skiiers are taking advantage of this new snow).
In our minds, it is almost springtime**. The months have flown by since Thanksgiving.
**In some sunny spots, the crocus' are already popping up.

Sr.,
Worcester MA has been the "jackpot". I live only a few miles from the airport which is where the official total is tallied. The latest I heard was 27.5". It's not as bad as it sounds though. It was in the teens here last night, so it is very light and fluffy snow, not that heavy muck. If we keep our power, I won't have to go out to start the generator. In truth,I like the snow and using the snow-blower from time to time. But if I had to go out every week, I would be in The Villages a lot sooner than planned.

I just spoke with my dad in Maine and it's still coming down. The worst storm he said he's ever seen. Not only has he lived in Maine his entire life he was also a fireman who had to shovel out hydrants after snow storms. His doors are all blocked with snow and the only way out is thru his garage door.
I remember the blizzard of '78. Back then we had no snow blower. My brothers and I did all the shoveling. I still remember how high the snow banks were. We had two weeks off from school. To me the three sweetest words in the English language back then were "no school tomorrow."

We got 30 inches in Bridgeport. I barely can open the front door to my condo as they haven't shoveled the sideway as of yet. Looks like three feet or more surrounding the car so I think I'll wait a while before digging my car free from it's space. At least they plowed the drieway. One part of CT got 42 inches of snow.
One home in Bridgeport had it's roof cave in and one man fell off of his roof trying to clear the snow off. OMG, I hope he turns out to be ok. The roads are impassable as many people are stuck on I95 so I won't be going anywhere this weekend until it's time to go to work. That's a nasty four letter word.

The storm has a captive audience as we got walloped.
Stay safe Joe. We want you to LIVE THE DREAM!

:agree: Joe, after surviving the Blizzard of 2013, you really deserve to be in TV. Hope you all in the northeast can dig out soon and stay safe.

I am so glad we left last April. Having snow shoveled off the roof was the last straw for us.

It's been quite a year with Sandy, (2012), the the blizzard of 2013. I think the weather in TV will be a serious upgrade.
I dug out my car yesterday and helped my neighbior dig out her car as she is not too stable on her feet. I feel some backache today but I' m glad I got that out of the way. Suppose to rain tomorrow so maybe some of the snow will wash away. More snow coming on Wednesday but it doesn't look like it will be much. It was real cold last night especially with the wind whipping around so I stayed home and read a book, (was not on TOTV much of yesterday).
I think someone told me yesterday the condo will have trucks here today to remove the snow as there is too much to push it into a corner. The next town over got 35 inches and one town in CT, got 42 inches. The roads are not in good shape and it is recommended everyone stay off of them until the plows can work their magic. One plow got stuck four times yesterday. I saw a line of cars on I95 that were stuck and or waiting for it to clear up.
I guess some people had to get somwehere but it was prudent to stay home and be safe. Some cars were left stranded.
Oh Well, tomorrow is another day and hopefully, the roads won't be treacherous.

Check out picture 19. It was exactly like the cars in my condo lot.
