Of course you can. It's no different than being outside really, except that there are no bugs. If you have vinyl siding I would keep the grill at least 3 feet away and the same goes with vinyl screens. Mine are aluminum so there is no issue there. Enjoy the steak!

So you can have a gas grill in you yard? Or in your screen porch?

Yes! Either back yard or on bird cage covered porch.

We have ours on a pad outside of the birdcage. This way the grease and smoke don't get on the framing.

inside the cage and away from the house will not be a problem.
We have had ours inside the cage from day one and we do at least 50% or more of our cooking out there. No effect on the screen or frame which is about 2 feet behing the grille.
Common sense makes it work.

Ours has been in birdcage for over three years now. No problems. It is on the outside of the lanai by the screen of birdcage.

You will get grease and soot on your ceiling and screens. Do it for a while and then rub you hand on the screens. You will see what I mean. I believe it is also a potential fire hazard.
