Yes, Bare. I have already alluded to the screen of death on another thread.
It may come in handy! :)
It was beautiful here in TV today. It felt like a Florida fall day. The breeze was brisk and the sun bright. I went out and played cards with girlfriends. When I got home, Mr Sam presented me with a new golf bag and clubs. I guess I will go learn how to play golf.

Just Susan 09-20-2008 09:05 PM

Yeaaa, Sammie, I am going to golf when we get there too. I used to be okay at it many years ago, but have not played in about 20 years. I have a brand new unused set also.

Can't wait, so many laughs ahead.

samhass 09-20-2008 09:12 PM

I'm heading north for a bit so they won't get broken in right away! Maybe by the time you get here I'll be able to hit the ball! We can have a TOTV Ladies Hackers group. We can play halfast golf but excel at lunch.:pepper2::2excited::a040::a040:

Just Susan 09-20-2008 09:21 PM

I love it. It is all about the fun and the laughs and the lunch!

samhass 09-20-2008 09:32 PM

Maybe that will keep me from answering some of the stupid statements made in political. I just got furious in a post.:cus:

Just Susan 09-20-2008 10:17 PM

I'm telling you dear girl don't go in that place.... it is an evil place full of animosity and very few facts. Sort of like the real campaign...hmmmm.
Sorry you can't make it to see Sarah tomorrow. I would love to go check her out...just to see...

Barefoot 09-20-2008 10:21 PM

Chatters Happy

It was lovely here yesterday. I went riding for the first time this year at my girlfriend's farm. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The last of my two horses died this Spring so I thought I'd be too sad to ride again, but it was fine.

Today it was 75 degrees and sunny, beautiful Fall weather and the leaves are starting to change. The birds are starting to head south for the winter.
Hahaha .. and soon, so will I!!

Sammy, you got golf clubs, great! I've been thinking of taking golf lessons when I get to TV just to see if I can work up any enthusiasm. I already know I'm very enthusiastic about the lunching part!

See y'all soon.

Just Susan 09-20-2008 10:25 PM

Are you kidding? This is going to be so cool. We are already a threesome...who will be our 4th?

Susan, I took golf lessons 30 years ago. The Pro said (and he was serious) that I should find another sport, that I'd never make a good golfer. So I started playing squash.

So I doubt I'd be any better now. I either miss the ball or hit the ground and jar my teeth. Not sure if there is any hope for me at all.

But I know how to do the lunching part really, really well. :clap2:

Just Susan 09-20-2008 11:21 PM

Bare, I am beyond the stage in life where being good at something is necessary to enjoy something. I don't care if you are good or not. We will have a blast! Can't speak for her, but I doubt Sam cares either.

Rokinronda 09-20-2008 11:34 PM

May I be #4? I have only golfed a half dozen times, but I've done lunch a gazilion!! Sam, I LOVED your political post!!! We are women, hear us ROAR!! LOL I will see you in 2 weeks and am looking forward to Bare and Susan getting down here ASAP!!!! Have a great trip north, Sam! Bare take pics of the foliage! Susan, SELL SELL SELL, before you and Tom FREEZE on the boat!!

Just Susan 09-20-2008 11:40 PM

We will not be able to stand up, let alone swing, for falling on the ground laughing. with this 4-some.
Way too much fun.
Universe please send us someone who will buy our house soon! Thank you! P.S. Please don't make it hurt too bad!

Barefoot 09-20-2008 11:47 PM

Even though my trip to TV is over a month away (and before that I have to move house here), I'm already planning my Halloween costume for the Handieride on Oct. 31. It will be so fun to be back on the Reservation for six months.

Susan, hurry up and sell. Ronda, get those clubs polished up!

beady 09-21-2008 09:48 AM

Can I join

Sam and Sue.....

I have never even held a golf club so I could be the champion hacker.....I do, however, excel at lunch...I can be a formidable opponent in that sport.:1rotfl:

Just Susan 09-21-2008 10:13 AM

We are just going to have to start a rotating list of players. We may need to form more than one 4-some.

I think we will definitely need to keep this to nine holes so we have plenty of time for a long lunch. Maybe we can be the "Hacker/Smackers", or "Whack and Snack" or ...

I don't know, but I think the focus should be nine holes, at a different course each time, followed immediately with a long leisurely lunch. We will work off what we eat with all that excercise.

Fabulous Weather

I'm tired of reading dreary political posts.

Good news today, the husband of a dear friend had surgery and came through with flying colours.

The weather here in Canada has been delightful this week. Very warm and sunny, with crisp evenings. The falls colours are beautiful.

Aren't we all lucky to be alive!

mom2five 09-26-2008 07:23 PM

If you do decide to get something going with golf and lunch could you please include me. I am a beginner too.

Oh, alert, alert, alert ...

A seasoned player is trying to sneak into our midst and beat the pants off us all. Mom2five, I know you've been taking lessons! Actually, it will be a benefit to have someone who "knows the ropes".

I am a golf virgin so please treat me gently.

samhass 09-28-2008 08:24 PM

Bare, I am a golf virgin also. I have never had a lesson or played before.

Just Susan 09-28-2008 09:54 PM

Wait 'til I tell you girls, who I had a golf lesson from, in my "former" life...you're gonna just freak. Unfortunately, even though there was a time, the years have eroded any ability that once might have been mine. Even that wasn't much.

Our focus will be lunch, laughs and a little golf. I wonder if we will get addicted to it like some people do?

chelsea24 09-28-2008 10:20 PM

Hello!

I had 3 lessons one summer when I was 32. Can I play or am I considered a Pro. :a20:

mom2five 09-29-2008 07:28 AM

No Lessons Here

Bare

I promise you I have not had any lessons. I did start playing last January but did not play at all while I was in Canada and I am starting all over again now that I am back in TV. I might be able to help you find your way to and around the golf course but other than that I feel more like a beginner every time I go. Really looking forward to this and seeing you back in TV.

Barefoot 09-29-2008 08:38 PM

The Villages Golf Virgins, that's us. I think there'll be way more laughing than playing!

Just Susan 09-29-2008 10:39 PM

I love that name Bare and would like to christen our little group with that name. We could even get shirts with a logo...hmmm didn't Madonna have a song..."like a virgin"??

Ah yes, the days of innocence and youth...perfect name for us.

And Chels, I'm sorry, but you sound like a pro to me.;)

Rokinronda 09-29-2008 10:47 PM

Golf virgins!!

chelsea24 09-29-2008 10:56 PM

OK, Won't Play!

Gardening in Florida

Does anyone have a book they could recommend about Gardening In Florida?

samhass 09-30-2008 09:04 PM

Beady, I can do lunch, too. In fact, I have a lot of experience with that and do it well!!! I'm with you, lady!

Barefoot 09-30-2008 10:03 PM

Perhaps The Virgins could begin their golf careers gingerly, by taking a few "communal" lessons, and then having ... yes ... you guessed it .... lunch! :clap2:

Just Susan 09-30-2008 11:35 PM

I hate that you will all have to start without me. Thank you very much Wall Street and politicians. :cus::(

Anyway, when the Virgins gather for the very first time I am going to request that you glue my picture to the face of a Ping Pong paddle and set it on an empty chair at the table and talk to it/me once in awhile. I probably won't say much, but I know I will have a great time. (sigh)

Susan, I know exactly how you feel. I hate it when I'm not in TV and feeling so left out of things.

But think of this .. we are SO LUCKY to have TOTV! :D Even when we're far away from TV, we can still feel like we're part of things! :024:

Your fellow Virgin

Just Susan 10-01-2008 08:35 AM

Thanks Bare it just seems like we will never get there.

samhass 10-02-2008 04:43 PM

I'll be back next week and it seems like I'll never get there. I can't imagine being away for so long.

Isn't it a shame that once in TV we can't just bury our heads in the sand and let the world run by itself?

Hyacinth Bucket 10-02-2008 05:08 PM

I have been away for so long and out of the loop. What is the Virgins? I like the name.

Hope to see everyone when we return to TV in November.

Miss all of you so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch.

HB

graciegirl 10-02-2008 06:52 PM

Cough. Um......Well. I.....

.................

..........

I'm not a virgin.

But I was once.

Hyacinth Bucket 10-02-2008 07:10 PM

GG so was I! Imagine that.

HB

Barefoot 10-02-2008 11:53 PM

GG, I'm sure there is something you haven't tried yet! And that entitles you to claim Virgin status.

On the other hand, it sounds as if you've tried just about everything once. How about hot air ballooning or juggling?
