Default Operation Shoebox question

When and where can you volunteer to fill the boxes for the troops?

Box filling/bag stuffing meetings are most Mondays, including this coming Monday (11/11), 12:30pm, at Lake Miona Rec Center.

See you there!!

I am in Afghanistan in the same building as the Chaplain for this Task Force which is about 400 in theater. He gets several of these every month for distribution.

If you have any questions of how it looks from this end, ask away.

Safe to say that I am the only Villager here.

The care packages address labels are removed before they are handed out (for security) and placed in the burn bin. In case you're curious why you don't get responses or thank you notes

I spoke to one of the men involved in Operation Shoebox. He said they have binders full of thank-you notes from military personnel who receive the packages.

The boxes are distributed world wide. The security in Qatar or Kuwait is vastly different than Afghanistan.

Here, in Afghanistan, everything with text on it goes in the burn bag. The address labels are removed. I am simply stunned that anyone would argue with me about that.

Argue??

I think that SFDianne just meant that many troops just send a thank you message back home to whoever handles their mail...not to specific Operation Shoebox volunteer addresses. (I can vouch for that.)

I don't know what you are doing there, in "the chaplain's office", but I have to suspect you are serving our country in some way. I thank you, sir, for your service.
