I think the point was that they don’t enjoy it and would like to disable the feature if possible. That’s like me telling you, when you ask for best mosquito repellent, “Why not just enjoy those moments when you get to slap yourself repeatedly and do the mosquito dance?”

I have searched and searched to find a setting to change to stop that, but I have been unable to do so. Any experience Alexa users who can give me some guidance? It thank you

Is up to date !!

Several people are complaining about a Despicable Me theme that was turned on automatically and how difficult it is to turn it off.

It didn't happen to me but it looks like one path to disabling it might be:
  • - Alexa app
  • - Skills & Games
  • - Scroll to very bottom
  • - Your Skills
  • - Enabled
  • ......Might need to select Enabled from dropdown menu
  • ......Might need to click on something other than Enabled and then click back on Enabled
  • - Click on the skill you think might be causing the problem
  • - Click Disable if available
  • - If Disable not available, click Settings and then Disable

Alexa is trained through the app on your phone/ computer/ ipad.
If the app is downloaded, then use the app to train it.

I have Siri. I ask her for all kinds of practical things, especially alarms and the weather. She always responds with an acknowledgment of my request. I always say "thanks Siri" just so I can hear her say "you're welcome!" in a bright cheery voice. Can you tell I live alone?

Alexa needs a software refresh or a vacation. Over the last several days she does not hear commands, fails to set reminders, and does not work correctly.

I have the same issue,, and it bugs me when she says "OK".
Per the Amazon website, they are aware of this glitch and are working on it
*Insert eye roll*
As stated.prior, go into settings and turn on brief mode, and also turn off follow up mode. That is the best you can do right now.

What are you referring to?

There was a guy who went out of town for a week for work. But before he left, he had his house electronically controlled, by Alexa. One day he had an Amazon delivery. The delivery man heard a racial slur coming from within the inside of his house. He called Amazon, who was his employer, and complained.

Amazon had this guy’s house locked as well as everything else shut down. When he got back, he couldn’t even get in his house! And it took him a week to get it straightened out!

In the end they discovered that it was Alexa talking and said something that sounded like a slur.

ROLOF, I think you misstated what happened as he was locked out of his account not his home? Great article and I would have called one of the advertising lawyers to see if I had a case against Amazon for them doing that.
