Dear Gene
Notebook computer especially Dell hardly break unless you drop it from a 3rd floor. They tend to get slow over a period of time because of registry clogging, spyware and possibly virus etc. you really don’t need a extended warranty. Notebook computer don’t need a house call. It can be carried to any computer store and fix it. Check with Best Buy locally. Geek Squad charges you $200.00 to fix any problem with the computer and they cover three computers for a year. My advice is you can use the computer without any fear for a year or longer and then go to Best buy. Now you can spend your money getting good Antiviral products like MacAfee( you have to pay) and Anti spyware like Spybot,(free) Clean registry CCleaner (Free) for removing spywares which can slow your computer. I am not a computer person but a user who has learned the hard way
