Had two VW' s and drove both 130K miles. Changed oil at 10K miles. Synthetic oil. Had no problems and cars never burned oil. Now have a MB Sprinter Van and recommended is 20K miles. Some new engine warranties are 100K miles. That is a lifetime for most people in TV

I've been changing oil myself from the time I got my first car. I useally keep a car between 8 & 13 years. My current 2013 (got in 2012) requires synthetic. Never had any issues.

Why go cheap when get Mobil 1 or main brand for around 27 bucks, , just my opinion I wouldn’t use Fram especially if I cheap out and go 10K or year or more oil changes. I had old 60s BBF that I used cheapest Kmart filters $1.99 I think never had problem with conventional oil back them. but, due to primitive PVC system I changed oil every 4 months due to condensation issues in oil.
