:agree::agree:

Also, nice and quiet, and no exhaust smells inside the now closed and buttoned up cart. I never have any problem getting anywhere and home again. I have 2 electrics and 1 is always fully charged.

Speaking of Gas......pause. I'm cheapo and always use Regular gas. Does anyone find it beneficial in any way to use Premium in their cart?

redwitch 12-17-2010 07:12 AM

According to every golf cart mechanic I've talked to, they all recommend the Premium. It is a small engine and the Premium is just better for it. They also recommend you use the synthetic oil. Fortunately, it's a small tank, so it doesn't take that much to fill it. Also, when giving the cart oil, be very careful to not overfill. I've found that my cart only takes 1/2 a bottle of oil at a time.

On a related note, I see where the Dollar Store in Colony Plaza has recently closed. Too bad, a good dollar store should have done well. They just never seemed to have much inventory. Dollar Tree by Kohls and North 441 Walmart is the best around.

Back to gas, I usually put Shell in my car but rarely patronized that station since they were always substantially higher than others.

:clap2: Seems to me the prices at that station are outrageously high! Maybe because he has a captured audience. I still refuse to pay on average 10-15 cents higher per gallon for gas. Rip Off and the citizens that use that facility allow them to get away with it......:boom:

redwitch 12-17-2010 01:12 PM

Supposedly, Shell sets the price at that station -- not the owner. I was told they were in a different district than the ones on 466 and 441. Don't know if that is true or not, but it is a stupid policy if it is. They'd thrive if they were competitive and not just in gas, but in everything. I've found things to be consistently higher there than other TV gas stations.

There is a new Murphy's station under construction on 466

across from Walmart. Maybe they will bring lower prices to TV and influence the others who take advantage of a some what captive market. I avoid buying gas in TV as much as possible they are always 6-10 cents higher than non villages locations....like Sam's club this past week almost a dime less than 466 stations.

My husband is working and drives the car to Leesburg. It doesn't make sense to drive north (from Duval) to 466 to buy gas there, when he's going to Leesburg to work.

This is a big step backward.

And no, we're not sorry we bought a gas cart. It's reliable.

You're husband would do better buying his gas in Leesburg than TV. A couple weeks ago the regular at Colony was $3.06. At 466 it was $2.89. I bought gas for my cart there (466 Shell) although it only took 3 gals and I saved only 51 cents, but it was just my way of protesting and besides I enjoy riding around in the cart anyways.

Open again

Went by the Shell station on 466A around 5pm this evening and the sign is off the door, lights on and customers getting gas. Still open when we came back by after 8pm, so maybe whatever issues they had may have been cleared up???

Spoke to the new owner today: Recently purchased the operation, there was a lien against the previous owner that caused unforeseen problems that now have been resolved. I also asked about the prices being higher than the competition and his answer was that also will be changing, prices will be in line with other local stations. Sounds like good news to me!!!

Excellent news! Thanks for the updates.

Wow

Maybe if more of us used the station it would help. I know we only use a few gallons of gas every other week in our GC but it all adds up. I try and use that station as much as possible. Even for the car the price difference isn't that much. I think the convenience is worth a little more. Just my opinion.

hoganth 12-22-2010 07:24 AM

Agree, I don't mind paying a couple of cents more for gas. I live in Bonita and the station is very convenient for auto, motorcycle and golf cart gasoline.
Convenience is the key.

Probably a wash...gas cart owners have to pay for their energy costs weekly to refill the tank. Electric cart owners pay for the electricity, then have to replace the batteries approx. every three years. It is a matter of personal preference. We have one electric, one gas cart and both of us prefer the gas cart because we don't ever suffer from the dreaded "battery anxiety syndrome".
