We have one electric, one gas cart and both of us prefer the gas cart because we don't ever suffer from the dreaded "battery anxiety syndrome".

A neighbor of one of our friends took the time to figure out the cost of operating both of their golf carts. Back when gas was $2.50 per gallon he figured it cost him $0.05 per mile for the gas cart and $0.02 per mile for the electricity for the electric cart. But as you mentioned the cost of new batteries maybe five years down the road will be around $600 or so and that pretty much balances things out.

When I read here that the station had closed I followed th advise of several posters and went out and bought a 5 gal gas can. I then filled it up and it is sitting in my garage. Then I noticed I will probably have to by a funnel to get the gas into the gas cart. :grumpy: This is starting to be a big pain, plus I don't like portable containers of gasoline sitting in my garage. Once I eventually get the gas into the cart I think I will end the use of the 5 gal can. Hopefully the 466a Shell will stay open...if not I will drive to Southern Trace. One point for electric carts :D

We were over by there today to go to Publix - the gas price was $309.9 for regular. About 10 cents too high at present. But as others have said, the convenience for those close by is worth something! :)

Even if it amounts to an xtra buck to fill the cart as previously stated, it is worth it for the convenience.

We have 2 electric carts and have and endless supply of energy right in our own garage. carts are plugged in after every use and we have never been stranded, actually, not even close. don't have to raise our voices in conversation while driving and don't smell like gas when we get home....gn
