Not really. Sunday Schools in most churches don't teach younger children directly from the Bible. It would be over their heads and yes, it does have some pretty graphic stuff. They use children's Bibles and age appropriate religious books. Age appropriate being the operative words.

As should schools for all topics, especially sexuality.

When I was a child we learned ONLY stories from the Bible, prepared for use by denominational headquarters, and we didn’t use children’s bibles—just King James. They left out explanations of some things and left out some of the wildest stories, like the Levite whose concubine was raped to death, so he cut up her body and sent a piece to each tribe, but there were plenty of battles, and David sawing off Goliath’s head, and all that. It concentrated on stories. And we had to memorize a relevant verse every week. We also had a ten volume set of Bible Stories at home, and my mom read us at least one story every night. Sounds like “most churches” are teaching watered down versions of the Bible and straying from the teachings. Plenty of things to blame it on, but sounds like there is a lot of self-censoring going on. I went on to teach biblical literature for ten years at a state university, and this background from church and from my mom was a solid foundation. Most of my students were eager young Christians, but most were also biblically illiterate when they started the class, and they were startled to find how little they knew.

Yeah everywhere I go, I am bombarded with talk about pride month. To the surprise of no one at all, the talk is coming FROM homophobes who are against it, but continue to obsess about it and remind everyone how it exists and how much they are suffering as a result of some guy they don't know wearing a gown and heels in a parade in another state.

Anyone who really wants to demonstrate how tired they are of it - maybe stop talking about it so much.

Good thinking. Ban a book that only a few, if any, would ever pick up and read. Protect the children from the vulgarity and obscenity of the world we live in so when they finally walk out the front door into the real world they will not be prepared to handle what they find.

Does it make any sense to ban a 'book' when there is internet access and digital content?

Not homophobia at all

So, you are saying that anyone that does NOT condone the abnormal lifestyle that is perverted and that does not think that there should be a month dedicated to such perversion, is a "homophobe?" Do you even know the definition? What part about it not being normal don't you understand? I know of no one that does not tolerate the private deviant lifestyle of that alphabet group, even though they do not condone it. Those of us that complain about a month dedicated officially to celebrate such abnormal behavior, do so because the majority of this country does not endorse it. The idea of a month or any time dedicated to celebrating it is against most religious faiths and against what most parents teach their children. We do not wish for our children to be exposed to this abnormal lifestyle while the gov and WOKE society endorses it. To label someone a homophobe, which is the same as calling someone a bigot, might be turned around and label you as anti-semitic. Of course, I would not but I could understand why some would feel that way.
It's interesting how certain groups insist on labeling folks racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes, etc, just because we do not agree with or have the same view as them. It is not simply having an opposing opinion, but an affront to some if you do not agree with them and as a defensive posture, labeling is utilized.

There is so much irony in this post. YOU are the one hating....... stop hating, they will stop talking about being hated.

"We" is plural, as in more than one. Did someone mention "everyone in the world?" Just wondering, because I did not take that comment as being "everyone." That poster might be correct in saying the MAJORITY feel that way. Just a thought.

Can you disagree with something and keep it to yourself? You write a long hateful post about the "alphabet people", then get offended because its pointed out that you are a homophobe?

I think the majority is sick and tired of all the hate for people who can no more help being gay than they can help being born with red hair or blue eyes. I wish that stupid Bible had never been written by evil people who wanted to control future gullible generations. It's really sad that you hate people, and I bet you call yourself a Christian. The funny thing is, if the man you call Christ was alive, he would tell you to stop hating people. "Love they neighbor" Mind your own business.

Actually, IMO they accuse folks of "hating" because they can not get folks to consider their lifestyle as normal, or at the very least endorse their lifestyle. Many folks like that have a tendency to accuse in order to put folks on the defensive. Personally, having some very close friends and family members that are gay, I tolerate their lifestyle UNTIL they or anyone else attempts to indoctrinate.
But, this has very little to do with the subject of banning the Bible in Utah public schools and I apologize.

Accusing me of "hating?" You belittle and demean one's faith and make false assumptions, and then attempt to be defensive? Sorry, but that dog don't hunt.

BTW, HE is alive. Over 500 people witnessed HIS resurrection.

That would be George Carlin weighing in.

You should have given George Carlin credit for the quote.
