So, are you tired of the activism in pro sports? Have you stopped watching?

You have to admit... golf continues to "fly underneath the radar." I haven't seen anyone on the pro circuit wear a "BLM" shirt. In fact, none of the pro golf players are jumping into this controversy.

I love this. They are just playing the sport they love and we just get to watch it. Sigh...

I stopped watching pro-football when the players would not stand for the national anthem. Where else can they make that kind of money for playing a game. Now I just think what would happen at my "regular job" had I refused to work because I was upset with something. I'm sick of the protests - do something constructive.

superzcomputerz 08-28-2020 07:54 AM

No more professional sports for me!!!

superzcomputerz 08-28-2020 07:54 AM

Not me!

quietpine 08-28-2020 08:11 AM

If you “turn off” sports to protest the protestors you are exercising your first amendment right just like the players and other protestors.

Andyb 08-28-2020 08:39 AM

Hope they go bankrupt. I will boycott for life the NBA, NFL and MLB.

Chuckndianne 08-28-2020 08:43 AM

As far as I am concerned, they are dead to me.

mtlee024 08-28-2020 08:43 AM

Yes

They are for me. When the inmates run the prison you have anarchy. The manager and owners don't have the guts to tell their workers what to do. I am not against protest when needed, but there are other ways.

I have not watched an NFL game for 3 years, I have now added the NBA and MLB. So sad.

Golfers have to perform to earn their money and the other's don't!!!

jbrown132 08-28-2020 09:10 AM

It is a shame that we make heroes out of many of these players, when in fact many of them are just spoiled rich kids who have been pampered since their youth. Many, but not all, are uneducated brats who went to college on a full ride not because of their intellect but because the could throw or catch a ball. Think about how sad that is when some bright young mind cannot got to school because he cannot afford to go and has no athletic ability. Why would I listen to these players? Same for many of these idiots in Hollywood. This is the advice I would give to all of them. Shut up and play ball and shut and just act because no one and I mean no one, really cares about what you think.

islandtiempo 08-28-2020 09:23 AM

Please God hear my prayer. Would that all patrons would stop watching, attending or purchasing anything related to professional sports. Then it will gladly die. We can only hope and pray. 😁

The sad thing is that these pampered idiots think people do care what they think.

Agreed and this is why you won't see wide spread "protesting" on the PGA. It would be the same in the other leagues if their salary relied on their play.

As to the original question. I don't think the NBA will hurt much at all. We're not exactly in their target market. The NFL has proven it has too much of a pull for enough people to turn their TV sets off. I think MLB and the NHL are taking huge risks and I'd be very surprised if this doesn't hit them deeply in the pocket book.

I'm just surprised they are willing to hitch their wagon to Jacob Blake. I don't understand how you can look at the facts of that and see that this was somehow racially motivated and that in any way he was not the person 100% in the wrong.

charlieo1126@gmail.com 08-28-2020 09:37 AM

Oh yes let’s all praise golfers

I was a basketball fanatic. I haven't watched a game since the players and owners politicized the game. Hope they all go broke and the the players get their pays cut to nothing.

I'm done with all pro sports. I'm a big golf fan but even now, they're starting to give into the pressure. Cameron Chump is the first. Keep it up and I'll quit watching or going to tournaments.

Mrwaynet@gmail.com 08-28-2020 10:47 AM

Why do they have to be knuckleheads as you called them.

SenselessPage 08-28-2020 11:27 AM

I believe they should stick to what they are doing. Play Ball, and leave politics for another time.

I never had to stand for The National Anthem as a condo on of employment at work EVER!
And why don’t they play the National Anthem for Professional golf tournaments!

Get the story straight. He made sudden aggressive moves when he should have shut up and obeyed the officers. How hard is that to comprehend?

Rrgolf 08-28-2020 12:55 PM

Hopefully. 0 pro sports in our house!

I will not watch basketball or baseball again and if football follow their lead I’m finished with it and see how long they last without support?

Me too and if I wasn't fed up with the Primadonnas before, their recent "boycott" has pushed me to forever "boycott" them. Millionaires who also think they can play the political card and not perform for fans! No more NBA or MLB for me.... football was killed a long time ago with Kaepernick starting the kneeling....

Sherry8bal 08-28-2020 02:23 PM

I sure hope so. These babies don't deserve to make the money they want and don't want to WORK to earn it.

fastboat 08-28-2020 03:28 PM

I couldn't care less what these ignorant players do. I wish the owners would step in and tell them, You play or you're fired, I'm not paying you to make political statements.

College sports are much more interesting and fun to watch anyway.

newbie1758 08-28-2020 03:39 PM

Amen to that!

We have a tradition of standing for our National Anthem at sporting events and other events.

We are honoring our flag and what it stands for and the brave men and women who have fought under that flag.

Basketball and baseball are two sports I never watched anyway. So, I can't stop watching them. Not sure what activism is taking place. Doesn't activism mean that you are doing something to change a bad situation? What are they attempting to change or accomplish by kneeling? I don't get it.

clekr 08-28-2020 06:16 PM

Just tried to turn on Yankees game. Not on. No explanation. Guess I watched my last Yankees game last week.

We're way beyond having owners step in. The only way sports will get back to "just playing the game and not making a political statement' is when people, in significant numbers, quit watching sports.

I'm more than ready to do that. I only watch golf.

Kayakguy 08-28-2020 11:43 PM

I'm more or less done with watching pro sports. Will not watch basketball or baseball again. Never very good anyway.
College sports have always been much better. The pros may be good but they are just grossly overpaid.

GoPacers 08-29-2020 05:35 AM

Pro sports are not "dead" and won't ever be "dead." Every day we get reminded that we're getting older in many ways. In this case, we (old white people) are not the demographic that pro sports target so while we may think our opinions matter - they don't and making stupid racist comments to denigrate the athletes in those sports only shows one's own ignorance and immaturity - and possibly another sign of aging as our frontal lobe "filter" continues to fail us.

Nucky 08-29-2020 07:47 AM

I think I'll watch Sports when I feel like it. Big Games only. Remember the old days with Wide World Of Sport and Howard Cosell? Those days are gone forever.

I gave up on our teams, N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Jets. It was about a year before we moved to The Villages. I realized once we got here that the real reason we were so

into watching was the family could be together and we were WARM. Once we got here there was no way I was going to jeopardize most of the day watching either team

just to be disappointed time after time. So now because of the conditions we live under I would say that all Sports are open to me again to USE them to fill my time.

I could care less what they think or say. They are paid to entertain us by moving a Ball somewhere and doing something with it. (I have an idea where they could move the Ball butt....) Do you think they give a damn about us?

How many of the players who are Boycotting are sweating their Gigantic Mortgage Payment and Car Notes if nobody supports their sport anymore? Once they put it

together that it may affect their way of living their issues may be important to them today but will chill out once a certain date passes probably.

I don't even know the Managers Names of the Yankees or Mets. I don't know the quarterback's names of the Giants or Jets. What a shame.

The last Sport thing I really enjoyed was when the Cubs won The World Serious! Since then it's been a big NOTHING!
