Of course, this begs the question of just what is considered a case.

Let's make this easier for the non-professionals:

Your kid gets a case of chicken pox. He has skin lesions, fever and a cough. You keep him home from school until all the lesions have crusted over. Period. Now, as for the other 30 kids in his 2nd grade class, we watch them for development of a case, meaning skin lesions, fever and cough. If they don't get it, fine.

What we do not do: We DO NOT test every kid in the class every day for Varicella antigen, and when a positive crops up call it "a case" and quarantine them.

Also, what we DO NOT do: Give the kids Varicella vaccination and then continue to test them for chicken pox

Everyone get it now???????

The vaccine prevents severe disease, hospitalization and death. Seems to be working as far as I can see as reliable sources are reporting that most people in hospitals and dying of Covid are UN-vaccianted. Can you dispute that fact?

My opinion on parenting and tax law is that Federal and State tax law should give tax deductions for ONLY one or two children and NOT for more - possibly even a small penalty for 3 or more. This IS NOT because I do not like children, just that I feel that the US has overreached the optimum population based on its current residential space, technology, wealth, and natural resources. I know that I am the outlier on this so feel free to throw barbs and stones my way. Just let my idea enter your minds slightly, thank you!

I think that Governor Desantis has been as fair as a person can be in his position. He needs to consider all things. It appears that the most endangered are in fact the most vaccinated in this state; the elderly are highly vaccinated at about 70% or better and they are the most at risk. I have decided to stop going to the rec center for a few days at least to try to figure out whether it is safe. I know someone who became sick with Covid after two group members at a rec center became sick and had test.

I am hoping that what we will see that the vaccinated are not getting TOO sick.

I’d reconsider and consider avoiding Rec Centers for a few weeks. It not really that important!

Yes, the current school system in the US IS broken. Other countries have created much BETTER "quality of life" for their citizens. Rich people with high property values refuse to pay their fair share of property taxes, so they put people on the school boards specifically to CRY about school expenses and keep property taxes as low as possible - so the US gets only a "cut-rate" educational system.

As a fringe benefit, rich people can today MORE easily manipulate poor people into working for lower wages and electing leaders that work AGAINST the poor's best interest. it is as if the US has devolutioned back to 18th century England.

Sorry if I am not that concerned. Tell me when the DEATH rate goes up instead of down, as it has been for months.
And as long as they kept talking about how the test are performed and how they might be flawed, I won't take much stock on how many are deemed Covid related.

Please get vaccinated. My 13 year old grandson nearly died from COVID. Was in ICU for 7 days and we almost lost him. His heart and lungs will never recover. I'm begging all of you to please get vaccinated.

The 7-day trend for death rates started increasing in both Florida and the US about one week ago, a little more than three weeks after case numbers began to increase.

It is yet to be seen whether death numbers will follow the same curve as case numbers but the three-week lag is consistent with the earlier spikes.

My wife knows for a fact that our hospital's ER is filled up and also the ICU. The Gainsville and Orlando hospitals are also full and "diverting". Apparently, there is nowhere for the helicopters to take our local patients! And patients are younger because of Delta and sicker. The average age of CV patients in Jacksonville is down to 42.
