She is not evil but she clearly isn't very bright. Given the US involvement with providing arms to the Ukraine, she should have made sure she was squeaking clean since she was a highly visible potential target. Even if she was squeaking clean, there was always the possibility of something being planted in her luggage. Perhaps she is bright and decided to roll the dice and lost. Also, please stop with the strawman arguments.

I would not put it past Putin's agents from planting something on a VIP like her. |

Otto Warmbier was convicted of stealing a poster and was sentenced to 15 years. He died the following year. Griner has been convicted but many people don't want her to pay the price. |

As to her status as a VIP, I had never heard of her until all the hoopla over her arrest and conviction. Of course I cannot speak for others, especially Putin. lol BTW, She was arrested on 2/17/22. Russia did not invade Ukraine until 2/24/22. Of course Russian troops were amassing on the border for some time before the actual invasion which we all understand was likely planned for some time. |

She admitted to packing hashish in her luggage. She put it there, not Russian agents as you surmise. |
How would you know what happened at the airport? You do not.
And her last statement which I assume was under oath and in court said that she was not sure how that got in her suitcase. Or, something to that effect. Russia's legal system is hardly fair and just. Anything but. JUSTICE SYSTEM IN RUSSIA | Facts and Details Quote:

Hashish was found in her luggage. She admitted she put it there. She committed the crime. She should do the time. She is a criminal under Russian law, no doubt about it. She is a druggie and a liar. She has proven herself to be a liar as she changed her story. Duh! Why are you so obsessed about Griner but not Marc Foley who merely had medical marijuana and not hashish in his luggage? |

And Brittany is NOT a liar either to my mind because who knows how much she was physically threatened to say whatever Russia wanted her to say? For ANYBODY imprisoned in Russia ...........they would remember that Russia poisoned their OWN popular politician that had the nerve to run against Putin. Remember Mr. Navalny who was poisoned and almost died. I wonder how much that was on Brittany's mind as she testified to their kangaroo court and rotted in jail. Anybody would say ANYTHING in that situation that the Russians wanted to hear. She was a VALUABLE PAWN to them, so of course, they got a confession. That's what Dictatorships do! |
There seem to be (at least) three groups here - those who believe she is guilty and deserves the punishment; those who believe she is guilty but think the sentence is harsh; and those who think she is innocent and was framed.
The problem with the third group is that there does not seem to be any evidence that she was framed. She admitted that she brought the drugs into the country but it was inadvertent. I don't believe that she has ever even suggested that she was framed. In fact, it came out during the trial that she had a prescription for medical cannabis. (I am not sure if a prescription for medical cannabis is the same as cannabis oil.) But again, she “inadvertently” forgot to bring the two-year-old medical marijuana prescription when she traveled to Russia. So if she was framed, it seems to be a remarkable coincidence that they framed her with the one drug that she apparently uses. I have not heard anyone - Griner, or any of her supporters - say that she did not use marijuana. I agree it is possible that they framed her but, at this point, there seems to be no evidence that it was done. |
