We don’t go out as often as we used to for these reasons.

Just so everyone knows, it's not just autistic people who have trouble in Walmart. I have Dystonia, which means I have involuntary muscle spasms, primarily with my eyes and other parts of my face, and at times it extends down my right side to affect my neck, shoulder, legs, and feet. Walmart is one of the worst environments for my body. I can be absolutely fine in the parking lot, and less than 10 seconds after walking in the door, my eye or eyes shut down, my right shoulder raises up, and I am a mess. I look forward to trying out this new time period, it would be nice if I don't feel like crap in there.

Is that a real title?

Of course, she is in charge of Walmart Nationwide's attempt to BETTER belong sociologically with greater America. You go, girl !!!!!

Naturally, if their motivation was to help those individuals, I'm not against it at all---it's hardly an inconvenience to anyone else.

The Meaning of life and a "woke life"..........I thought that the meaning of "woke" was a positive one - an "awakening" and seeing more of the many truths and beauties in life. Far from a "path to destruction", which is QUITE negative.

I’m calling BS.

People/children with autism don’t only shop at Walmart 800-1000am. Nonsense.

No, but the idea IS that it allows them a time that they might enjoy MORE than from 10 AM to closing. It gives them MORE options and people like options.

If that is an example of so-called "common sense"........then it is interesting because it is WRONG ! Today's MAN-MADE Global Warming has increased greatly in the past 8 years. I am NOT the one saying this. It is the many thousands of climate scientists worldwide and ONE (of many) simple proofs is the measurement of the increasing ocean levels around the world. Many others too numerous to mention.

Ah, the sound of a world WITHOUT BLITHER-BLATHER would be a world without sensory OVERLOAD.........I can only dream.........imagine there are no LOUD lawnmowers
............. imagine there are no loud grassblowers to irritate you
.............I wonder if you can
..............no loud golf carts with their governors jacked WAY UP
..............I wonder if you can
...............no LOUD people to pee you off
...............I wonder if you can

PS: I'm don't deny "global warming", its been going on for the last 20,000 years and cyclically many times before that. The "deniers" are those that are oblivious to the obvious truth--that 20,000 years of warming has nothing to do with driving your SUV.

So good to hear the truth that these global warming idiots can't understand.
They should research the 60's to see how the liberals were panicking over "Global Cooling"
They were convinced the ice pack was going to tip the earth off its axis

I have this disorder, and, believe me, it's no fun to be assailed by bright lights, loud music, and flashing images. In some people it triggers anxiety attacks and migraines, which are debilitating. It would be nice if more people were aware of this disorder, which often masks itself as shyness or unsociability. Unfortunately, there's no cure, except for sufferers to avoid loud concerts, strobe lights, and other multi-sensory activities. Even being in a room where multiple conversations are going on, especially with music in the background, produces anxiety attacks and other physical symptoms that can be unbearable. A little understanding would be nice. Just be glad you're not one of the people who have sensory problems.

Thank you for putting us "into your shoes". Very informative.

The anger that is palpable through some of these posts would be pathetic, if not so vicious — and predictable.

Let's see--well, from what I gather, anyone who may have such sensory issues may not even be allowed in the military; they'd be "4-F'd", if that's the correct term, and, well, such lights and sounds may not bother you particularly, but those on the autism spectrum--like me--might find bright lights and intrusive background music to be disturbing and even distressful. While, I imagine, its presence or absence may not impact you at all either way. Its kinda like having Disabled parking spaces. Those that can walk a bit arent affected largely by the restrictions of handicap-only spaces, and having those spaces closer to the doors makes it less demanding on a person in a wheelchair or, like my dad here in TV, a walker.
Hope this clears things up.

Today Walmart announced that starting Friday they will have "sensory friendly" hours from 8-10 AM when the lights will be lower, the radio off and the TV screens set to a static image. Are they kidding???? What individual or group made this complaint and why in the world would Walmart even give a second thought to listening to them, much less enacting such an idiotic policy.

Let's hope we never get into a real war. I can see it now: "Sargeant, would you please tell the enemy to cut it out---their bombs are too bright and too noisy. Also, you failed to designate which foxholes are free speech zones." We are in trouble.
