Out of all this whole big, long, weird mess of a thread, my last post has disappeared. Why me?

Yesterday, I wrote a post that basically said kids should not be used in marketing clothing that has anything to do with sex direction and should not be used as pawns for political pandering — either way.

While it can be argued that the Bud controversy might not have been the best decision — naive at best, exploitive of transgenders at worst— it did not enter kids into the arena. I basically said that, too.

I said that I thought drag queen story hours were a decision made by idiots, but drag queen shows for adults should be left alone.

I also said I am opposed to dressing babies in onesies with confederate flags on them.

Then I said that those sicko beauty contests that people put their little girls through make my skin crawl and should not be happening.

At the end, I said the thread was getting really weird and the baiting needed to stop.

Then I saw a brand new poster welcomed for suddenly appearing and posting for the first time to start this $h!+ $linging thread. I thought that was odd and spoke volumes about the direction of the agenda TOTV is encouraging as a part of its business image.

I am sure whoever deleted my post or reported it justified getting my moderate opinion pulled by claiming it was political. Gimme a break. How fair is that? Look around. Lots of far more political posts left to stand. And, yet, moderate me had to take the hit.

Oh well, enough from me. I am sure this one will be gone, too — probably along with me — for the first time ever. Had a couple of warnings, but never banned, not even benched. I think this one might do it……If not, I guess I need to do it myself. Being Boomer will be a hard habit for me to break.

If I don’t see all of you longtime, familiar posters again — both agreeing and disagreeing — thanks for the theater. It has been (mostly) fun.

Boomer

Moderator or whoever, please let this one stand, even if you throw me out — although I don’t deserve to be banned or even benched, considering — could be good for me.

Totally agree again. No matter which side of this issue you are on using children as walking billboards is just plain wrong and even dangerous.

Probably the same people who appointed you. No one needs to be appointed to decide what someone else is going to market, or not market. If you don't like it, don't buy the clothes, don't wear them. You get to decide. And they get to decide whether or not they'll sell them.

That's one of the great things about America, home of the Free Market, and commerce that isn't owned and operated by the government. That's what a Republic is all about. And being in the Free State of Florida, you should be especially appreciative of the fact that Target has the Freedom to sell these things - or lose money trying, or choosing not to sell them.

Thank you for understanding how boycotts work.

The people who don't like it aren't shopping there. Hence, their multi-billion $$$ drop in value and plummeting stock prices... Just as you explained...

Typically, kids are stupid... I wouldn't base what they need on what I wanted when I was a kid... That's what parents are for...

You will see these a lot here in Talk of the Villages. I may do one once in a while too.

Um... Yes you do...

Now that you understand them, maybe you'll stop...

You might want to reap the post about "logical fallacies"...

The 911 shows have some prominent gay/lesbian couples. They are on Fox. And have been for years. And there is a man who used to be a woman who is also a firefighter.

You are aware that FOX Entertainment is a completely different entity than your dreaded "FOX News Corp" aren't you?

Er, or maybe you're not...

Of course - old folks have lousy memories, so they forget that they are TAUGHT their attitudes - hatred, vitriol, and bigotry isn't part of their chemical makeup or DNA, it's taught to them by their parents and their environment. Maybe they had a babysitter who touched them in a private place and it made them afraid of "adults who touch children" or something. Or maybe they saw David Bowie wearing a gold lame unitard and eyeliner and got freaked out because they actually liked the song he was singing.

Who knows why people fear what they don't understand - but it's taught to them, in some way or another.

More nonsense...

I loved Bowie, Queen, as well...

But please continue to project... It's quite enlightening...

Their opinion of those who post their little childish tirades against "other" is less than generous. Small minded people with provincial puritanical attitudes. So strange considering most folks living in the Villages are baby boomers - who were born during the era of the hippies - who coined the term "make love, not war." Notice they didn't say "make love but only with someone of the opposite sex, within 3 years of your own age, of the same color and religion, and only if they speak English, and you must be married to them and the female must reproduce."

And no one cares about them... just like no one cares about the vast majority of them...

Bit sue, keep making things up...

Not to worry... Someone will be along shortly to explain that YOU are the bigot for even noticing...

So is alcohol and drug abuse, smoking and wife beating but that doesn't mean that any of that is right for children, or for us. Your comparisons are not even apples to apples or even fruit. Although, some might jokingly say "fruit and nuts." :a20:

I just read it again. Which of those 16 fallacies do you think applies?

All the statements in the previous post are true. Rather than put words in your mouth, tell us what statement about teaching about LGBTQ, reading about LGBTQ, or acknowledging LGBTQ individuals is contrary to those.

So, teaching children has what limits imposed? Do they teach them sodomy? After all, that's what LGBTQ-aphabet is all about. I know, I know, maybe, maybe trans-whatever might not be involved in sodomy. My guess is that many trannys are gay, and not just dress up because they love to act like the opposite gender. Not that it's any of my business UNTIL they make it OK to teach children this abnormal behavior.

JMintzer 05-30-2023 02:07 PM

Could someone explain why there has been such a massive increase in children identifying as LGBT+?

Since 1980, there has been a 5 fold increase...

Could it be that these kids, who view themselves as "different" have found a new outlet for their angst?

It used to be "Grunge, or Goth", then, it was "Emo"... Now it seems to be fashionable to claim one is "non-binary", or "LGBT+"...

The internet (twitter, Instagram, Facebook) have had a massive influence on Millenials and GenZ... It has been compounded by progressive "educators", who want to push an agenda...

Or, it's just a coincidence...

True, or not... They have ZERO relevance to the conversation...

Sounds like a list of made up shows trying to drive an agenda. I see none of this on History, Discovery, NASA or real science channel
