"Compassion and understanding" of what?
So, if folks do not agree, it is defined as "level of hate and vitriol?" Sorry, but I consider anyone that wishes to do children harm to be "hateful." I would not supply a child with a beer because I feel that they should understand what a bar fly is, or what alcoholism is. I would not hand a ten year old the keys to the car so that he/she/it would understand the rules of the road.
No hate here, just compassion for the children that should not be subjected to abnormal behavior and told that it's normal. Children do not have enough experience to understand that what you tell them is not the norm. If you are going to teach children science, you don't start them off by telling them that there are three genders; male, female and non-binary, or you choose and pretend.

So - here's some really cool info that you never learned:

There exist people in this world who are infertile. For whatever reason - a birth defect, injury, illness, drug/alcohol abuse, they are not capable of fertilizing an egg or carrying a child.

And yet - they are still capable of feeling romantic and even sexual love toward other people. Love has nothing, zilch, nada to do with reproduction. Most animals in the animal world don't care about love, when it's time to reproduce. Loving the person whose sperm/uterus is fertile for reproducing with them is awesome, but it's totally not necessary. Just ask any man with a low sperm count, whose wife gets pregnant from sperm harvested at a sperm bank.

Emotions are not a thing of themself, they are part of your survival package both as an individual and as a species, it's the programing that animates the hardware. Ones body / hardware can breakdown, malfunction, programing can be corrupted. And just as in the animal world it's all about survival of the individual and the overarching survival of the species, ask any man or couple who's sperm they would prefer to use for their child..It's about survival, if a person is misprogrammed they are misprogrammed, biology and emotions serve the same ends, animals do have emotions/ instincts (programing) appropriate for their survival, emotions aren't there to make you feel "good "but are a general guide determined by many many years of evolution

Puhleeze. You are smart enough to realize that a lot of the responses went above and beyond folks "not agreeing". Having two dads is not abnormal behavior.

You have that right. And it is not a good representation of the Villages. I have met more than a dozen gay couples here in the Villages and I do not get out that much. The hate, stupidity, and ugliness are not the rule.

Hold on. Pride month is coming. Perfect ads to try to draw children's attention.

Kids are probably aware of alternate life styles very early in 2023. Gays and lesbians are all over prime TV even many ads you see every day on CBS, NBC and ABC. And probably on Fox too. The 911 shows have some prominent gay/lesbian couples. They are on Fox. And have been for years. And there is a man who used to be a woman who is also a firefighter.

Back when most of these posters were kids, there was a musical called South Pacific. Of course - old folks have lousy memories, so they forget that they are TAUGHT their attitudes - hatred, vitriol, and bigotry isn't part of their chemical makeup or DNA, it's taught to them by their parents and their environment. Maybe they had a babysitter who touched them in a private place and it made them afraid of "adults who touch children" or something. Or maybe they saw David Bowie wearing a gold lame unitard and eyeliner and got freaked out because they actually liked the song he was singing.

Who knows why people fear what they don't understand - but it's taught to them, in some way or another.

There are also transgenders, gays, lesbians, "non-binaries" and others living right here in The Villages. I know of a couple who read this forum. Their opinion of those who post their little childish tirades against "other" is less than generous. Small minded people with provincial puritanical attitudes. So strange considering most folks living in the Villages are baby boomers - who were born during the era of the hippies - who coined the term "make love, not war." Notice they didn't say "make love but only with someone of the opposite sex, within 3 years of your own age, of the same color and religion, and only if they speak English, and you must be married to them and the female must reproduce."

She is still a woman. OK, what is her sperm count? Her biological sex cannot be changed from XX to XY no matter the surgeries and hormones. She can only pretend to be a man - which she is doing.

You will see these a lot here in Talk of the Villages. I may do one once in a while too.

If used it would argue against the idea that people can change their gender,

Rather than continually attack, demean those with different views on this subject demonstrate how one can change one's gender other than just making up different definitions

Well, I guess I now know — and wish I did not — about what TOTV wants from posters.

Out of all this whole big, long, weird mess of a thread, my last post has disappeared. Why me?

Yesterday, I wrote a post that basically said kids should not be used in marketing clothing that has anything to do with sex direction and should not be used as pawns for political pandering — either way.

While it can be argued that the Bud controversy might not have been the best decision — naive at best, exploitive of transgenders at worst— it did not enter kids into the arena. I basically said that, too.

I said that I thought drag queen story hours were a decision made by idiots, but drag queen shows for adults should be left alone.

I also said I am opposed to dressing babies in onesies with confederate flags on them.

Then I said that those sicko beauty contests that people put their little girls through make my skin crawl and should not be happening.

At the end, I said the thread was getting really weird and the baiting needed to stop.

Then I saw a brand new poster welcomed for suddenly appearing and posting for the first time to start this $h!+ $linging thread. I thought that was odd and spoke volumes about the direction of the agenda TOTV is encouraging as a part of its business image.

I am sure whoever deleted my post or reported it justified getting my moderate opinion pulled by claiming it was political. Gimme a break. How fair is that? Look around. Lots of far more political posts left to stand. And, yet, moderate me had to take the hit.

Oh well, enough from me. I am sure this one will be gone, too — probably along with me — for the first time ever. Had a couple of warnings, but never banned, not even benched. I think this one might do it……If not, I guess I need to do it myself. Being Boomer will be a hard habit for me to break.

If I don’t see all of you longtime, familiar posters again — both agreeing and disagreeing — thanks for the theater. It has been (mostly) fun.

Boomer

Moderator or whoever, please let this one stand, even if you throw me out — although I don’t deserve to be banned or even benched, considering — could be good for me.

Actually, it really is ABNORMAL behavior, but that has nothing to do with teaching children cross dressing by a corporation. NORMAL behavior is defined by what is and has been done by the majority.
And I really do think that the majority of post on here have been very civil. Almost everyone that has disagreed with the idea of promoting cross dressing or the gay/lesbian lifestyle have also stipulated that they have friends and/or family that consists of gays that they are very fond of. Almost everyone also stipulated that they tolerate the lifestyle that they do not agree with, but do NOT tolerate that lifestyle being introduced by strangers, to children.

Many Christians (including myself) have said that GOD hates the sin but loves the sinner. That may be correct, but the fact is that the concept is not a quote from the Bible (as far as I can tell). I believe it originated from St. Augustine. His Letter 211 (c. 424) contains the phrase Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to "With love for mankind and hatred of sins." But, truth be told (borrowing a phrase) I really do subscribe to the idea that GOD hates the sin but loves the sinner, or else HE would not have provided us with salvation through HIS son. But, I digress....again.

Boomer, I liked your previous post and am sorry to see it go. It was common sense IMHO although I do believe school boards and teachers need to respect and respond to intelligent input from parents on what is taught and what goes into school libraries as they work for the parents through educating their children. OK, we all know what children can access on the internet but some school boards and teachers have Target-like agendas with which most reasonable parents do not approve for their children. These agendas are frequently hidden and kept secret from parents.
