Someone said this could be the greatest halftime show ever, maybe because I'm a 78-year-old white guy, but I don't get Rap or Hip Hop. In my opinion the best SB halftime show was put on by Michael Jackson.

tsmall22204 02-14-2022 07:55 AM

You bunch of old facts. I did not like it either. I did enjoy the dancing when I had the sound muted.

These rap artists lip synched, the piano continued to play after Dr Dre got up, Eminem took a knee, and we all know what that was about and Mary J. Bilge looked ridiculous, other than that the half- time show was garbage. Thank goodness it wasn’t a full time show !

airstreamingypsy 02-14-2022 08:08 AM

You all sound like our parents, when we discovered Elvis. LOL. Fact is, no one cares that you didn't like it. The paying crowd loved it.

bruce213 02-14-2022 08:08 AM

Rap is not my jam, however you all sound like my parents in the 60s about the Beatles.
Also I retired fron corrections and federal inmates wear kakhi and white t-shirts LMAO.

CommonSense 02-14-2022 08:10 AM

Please tell me what the intrinsic value of last night's Super Bowl halftime show was all about! Maybe I am old fashion, but it wasn't about the music, it was an XXX-rated sex orgy performed in front of millions of impressionable young men and women. (I am sure the dancers' parents and grandparents loved it!) If we continue to pride ourselves on such values, then we can only expect to live in such a world. Last night was a culmination of how our culture has lowered its morality for the sake of acceptance. No wonder our nation has sunk into this cesspool!

mkjelenbaas 02-14-2022 08:10 AM

Not my type of entertainment- however - need to entertain others!!! How about a singer whose lyrics you can understand - are we getting too old?

Kept it clean? How could you tell? The vocals were unintelligible. Or……were you referring to their crotches? I think NOT! I’m guessing they all needed a shower because it looked like they had itchy genitals.

Windguy 02-14-2022 08:19 AM

It’s so refreshing to see how open minded Villagers are. Good for you!

You didn't need "hundreds" of channels. You only need more than one or turn TV off and read a book or go for a walk. Don't understand why you posted this rant. If you didn't like the halftime show express why and than see if others agree or disagree.

Susan1717 02-14-2022 08:39 AM

It was totally reverse racial and the scene with all the dancers in prison uniforms was way too gangster for me.

terenceanne 02-14-2022 08:45 AM

As I write this, Good Morning America is falling over itself to tell us how wonderful the show was. So, it must be true :)

The real reason for the whole thing is to show diversity in the NFL etc......it's all about politics. Roger Cordell went for his half-time caviar and champagne and left the rest of us to it.

In the grand scheme nobody cares about our opinion as we are over the 60 year threshold. As I always say respond with the almighty dollar - don't watch it - don't support the advertisers etc.

TNKYGAL 02-14-2022 08:50 AM

Thankful for DVR!

We enjoyed some REAL music at the square while the game recorded. Then we watched the game (minus most of the commercials). We took a break as halftime began, and after the first couple minutes, fast forwarded through the rest. I respect that some people like RAP and Hip Hop, but please, don't call that music! There is no music nor intelligible lyrics. It is chanting at best, and usually littered with foul language and/or topics. And from the comments on here, the gestures must have been pretty disgusting, so I'm glad we didn't try to endure it! It WAS a good game though! (even though my team didn't win.)

SeaCros 02-14-2022 08:51 AM

such close minded people to not try to open their minds to something they are unfamiliar with. For all the previous years of the Super Bowl Halftime shows when there were OLD/Not current performers that many had to sit through and watch. Many dont fully understand the appeal to the younger generation.

It was the worst ever. I especially liked the dancers all dressed it kaki prison outfits with black sneakers. How fitting. Whole show was NFL and Corp America pandering to ___________. I happen to like Eminem and Mary J has talent. It just was a bad show and in the wrong venue and sent a bad message.

This was for the under 30 crowd, rather than McCartney or Rolling Stones for us. Next year go retro with bringing back "Up With People".

EviesGP 02-14-2022 09:11 AM

I purposely turned it off during half time and switched over to watch the WM Open finale(recorded). BTW, the show wasn't the only thing that sucked. The game itself was pretty pitiful?! Aside from some good defense, I don't recall seeing some of the worst offensive plays in a championship game like that? Oh, and I also remember the days when I looked forward to some of the funniest ads, only to discover that nostalgia, too, is gone! None of them were funny? NOTE: I still have the old Bud Lite ads recorded. Sad!

garylubbes 02-14-2022 09:13 AM

Gee, remember what your parents said about Elvis or The Rolling Stones? My 40 year daughter sang along , knew every word. Maybe some of you should watch Lawrence Welk on PBS to reminisce.

Still, overwhelming agreement on TOTV about anything is quite an accomplishment:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

So, it appears almost unanimous, no (c)rap at the town squares : )

Correction…Not rap, but “hip-hop”. Not my kind of music but to each their own. I just wish that the NFL would remember that the Super Bowl is watched by young children and avoid those questionable and at times, objectionable lyrics and movements we witnessed during the halftime. Great game though. Congrats to the Rams.

Call it what you want, rap, hip-hop, whatever. If you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.

That was the difference between music and noise

I was watching with a few under 30 yr olds.
They thought the show was bad also.

taruffi57 02-14-2022 09:41 AM

You have to wonder just who the NFL is targeting - but more, who the NFL is ignoring. It's certainly not randomly planned.

1948JDG 02-14-2022 09:44 AM

Well well......After 60 posts on the subject, I think this thread had run its course. Let's look forward to nest years SB in Arizona!!!!!!!!

MrFlorida 02-14-2022 09:52 AM

It was the worst halftime show I ever saw, and I only saw the first minute or so...

Yup, my dad told me the Beatles were just a fad and wouldn't last long. However, they actually came around and started to like their music after they heard a band on a cruise ship play Hey Jude. From then on they liked "some" of their music.

As far as Rap and Hip Hop, I have tried. I have listened to it on shows like Saturday Night Live and last night at the Superbowl but I come away questioning what the hell I just heard. I just don't get the appeal and regret that it is permeating the music world. Almost all of the replies on things like Twitter and even a segment on FOX News praise it as the best Superbowl Half-Time Show of all time so I, and most of us, are totally out of touch I guess.

The best part is I will be dead and gone before the Squares have Rap music every night but it will probably happen eventually. Until then I will enjoy my "real music" like Rock, Folk and the Blues. There is a reason you can still find the "oldies" on many radio stations and there are many young people who are discovering it today so maybe there is hope.

I stopped watching half-time shows years ago. I decided to look at this one just to see if the hype "best halftime show ever" was in any way true. It wasn't. I wondered what I would see in the headlines this morning and wasn't disappointed. "Emotional Hip Hop Halftime Triumph" was the first line of the Drudge Report headlines this morning. I must have been watching something else . . . . .

JMintzer 02-14-2022 10:08 AM

Personally, I found the women dancing at the beginning of the halftime show very empowering to young women everywhere...

I mean, nothing like a good "twerk" to be taken seriously and not be seen as a sex object...

meme5x 02-14-2022 10:10 AM

What are they thinking? Show was disgusting, inappropriate and the language was embarrassing.. how do people get away with it?

Purple Rain in the Rain…..Best half time ever.

Roron123 02-14-2022 10:19 AM

I do exactly the same 😝😝😝

Roron123 02-14-2022 10:23 AM

Music was horrible, their attire was worse whatever happened to individual singers like the girl who sang at the beginning? I fast forwarded all of half time 😂

Barborv 02-14-2022 10:33 AM

Mamamia54, exactly how I feel. Not a fan of the rap crap, but to each is own. I don’t support entertainers that rap about shooting police and degrade women and constantly use the N word, but that’s ok?
