Is it garbage or just not liking people of color. Any time black players or musicians express them selves hateful comments are always used in the villages . I am white and a retired musician and while Rap and Hip Hop are not my favorite the talents and accomplishments of the performers at the half time show were as good as it gets.

It is embarrassing how closed minded our generation has become.

Few even listen to words and most are filler words that rhyme. If they did they probably turn channel :) use in the twilight years can’t hear anyway.:duck:

I didn't like the half time show but I had the option to not watch it. It looks like the fans that were there seemed to enjoy it so to each his own and remember you can just turn down the sound if that offends if the visual offends then change the channel.....not hard to do.

Easy answer----it's garbage, and it has nothing to do with race. I don't see any comments that call the music of Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr., Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and a hundred others "garbage". It's garbage because it isn't even music to start with, and then adds violent, degrading and racist lyrics (when you can understand them). I am not an expert on musical history. Yet, I DO know that each generation has a tendency to prefer THEIR OWN music. A generation is 20 years long, so that would make hip-hop / rap to be preferred as a group (with some individuals favoring some other music, obviously) .......a group from about age 30 to age 50. I assume that the music era before OURS -rock and roll- would be called the big band era with a little bit of folk thrown in?

Hip-hop and rap, like all forms of music, aren't for everybody. I'm not a big fan, but then I'm not a big fan of polka or country. To each their own. Since nearly all NFL players are young men and something like 70% of them are minorities, it's probably about time they got a show featuring the music so many of them listen to (though many of them wouldn't listen to anything as old school as Dr. Dre or Snoop Dogg!).

Not surprising really, but given that the outrage and vitriol started when the performers were first announced and long before the halftime performance, you succinctly pulled the rug back on the real elephant in the room. Thank you.

I abhor advocating the killing of police, or of anyone not creating a life/death threat for that matter, but it's not a coincidence that a lot of those who want to hang their hats on just that - have also been totally silent when it comes to actual equality for ALL Americans.

I'm also not a real fan of rap or hip-hop, but I do admire all varieties of talent and believe there are some very astute/intellectual/sad observations - in that genre and a lot of its lyrics. Since it's been shown that younger generations are far less racist & bigoted, in general, than us older generation folks, I'm betting that observation is one of the big reasons - so many younger people ARE such fans.

According to the rating services, this years half time show was one of the most popular ever. The demographic sought out after by the sponsors view rap music as their own. It’s just like the marketing people who view the demographic of The Villages as not worthy of a Costco or Trader Joe’s. More people care for rap music, than the old white men in The Villages. I hope you all enjoyed the game. GO RAMS.

Doubt they had The Villages in mind when they assembled the show. The really disappointing news is that Fifty Cent is now a Dollar!
