Why do you blame this on the media? Put the blame where it belongs, the nut who said it

Waltdisney4life 06-30-2020 07:13 AM

When will people realize that the news is scripted they plant actors to create dissension they can film it so they can scare people so they can sell commercials so they can make money get real the news isn’t!!!

I wouldn’t want to be the guy caught on the video doing the shouting.

Which is why the media chooses what is and is not news, and I don't anymore. They likely didn't show the video of the woman at the rally screaming "F**k Trump" at every cart going by.

My family wondered who all the ranting loons were trying to impress.

Original Question

To answer the original question, yes, I was contacted by family and friends who wanted to know what was happening in The Villages. Quite frankly, I haven’t turned on my TV in weeks. I’m too busy swimming, biking, walking, hiking, etc. I love living here. I love watching the sunsets and I love my neighbors. And while I’m certainly aware of The Villages being predominantly Caucasian, one of my best friends who lives here is African American and he loves it for similar reasons; he loves to golf. So, I was not aware of this video and tweet and I do not feel it reflects on the people who live here because everyone I know is too busy golfing and checking on their neighbors or at the pool. The video does not represent the thousands that live here any more than those tearing down statues or looting represent all the amazing and wonderful citizens of the United States. Media is a business. If there isn’t drama happening somewhere they are out of a job. Are there people passionate about their political party living here? Absolutely and there are even clubs for that. My friends are too busy enjoying life and enjoying all the amenities here. That’s what I told my family and friends.

Anybody else get some surprising questions from friends and family that know nothing of TV?

The only “News” reports I saw on any MSM channels was the man in the cart yelling, “White Power”. Nothing that showed that before he shouted that he was called “Racist” and asked where his “white sheet” was.

I was paired up with a golfer yesterday with about half a dozen Trump 2020 stickers including “Make Liberals Cry“. He also had a NASCAR 11 sticker (Hamlin). To make conversation, I commented on Sunday’s race. He answered “The Bubba liberals have ruined the sport”.

Such is the community in which we live.

Why on earth did you choose that man of all people to golf with? 125,000 residents in TV and you pick the guy with the "Make Liberals Cry" bumper sticker to hang out with? It's like smashing your finger with a hammer and then complaining that it hurts.

No, I do not think that being a Trump supporter automatically defines you as a racist at all any more than being a liberal automatically means that you are not racist. The media likes to paint with broad brushes though and that is why they chose to depict the incident in an otherwise peaceful golf cart parade the way that they did which is a shame. Truth doesn't seem to matter much anymore to some people.

We don't blame media for running the story, we blame them for only running 1/2 of the story.

With all the national exposure, hopefully we in TV will not see Antifa or BLM coming here to cause REAL trouble like we've recently seen across the country.

I feel sorry for them if they come to a community with thousands of old military personnel with hundreds of thousands of weapons at their disposal and a “don’t take crap from anyone” attitude.

That’s a good quote, and a reminder of the world we live in now.

I did get calls from friends who wanted to warn me about moving to the villages. I had almost bought back in Feb to snowbird it from New England, but pulled out because of the financial crisis surrounding Covid. I’m still on the fence - there are pros and cons with the villages. Lately I’ve been thinking I could do better so am less inclined to make the move now than I was at the beginning of the year. Certainly this latest event doesn’t help.

IMO this was certainly a black eye to the community. The crazy woman shouting out obscenities was the culprit, but the trumpian response was not good either.

Unfortunately this is typical news reporting these days. It is actually very rare to see a fair, unbiased story these days.

John, if you research Democrats coming to campaign in TV, you will find that they are not allowed to do so. Biden came a couple of years ago and his bus was not allowed to stay, his bus drove into SS and he was asked to move on and out of TV. I believe I am right in saying that Obama was not allowed to campaign in TV. If you wanted to hear or see them you had to leave TV. You can search Biden and Obama campaigning in TV to read the real story. If Biden should win in 2020 it will be interesting to see how TV handles it.

Sounds like fake news to me. Maybe they knew they would not be welcomed due to the majority being conservative and told the media that they weren't allowed to campaign here? I've not noticed any Leftist golf cart parades banned.

They did it with their own backs and labor. Very few people in America’s history ever had slaves. My family raised their own cows, pigs , chickens, milked the cows, churned the butter, farmed the land, canned their on food.
