Peaceful walkers?

Nothing was omitted...you can see it all just about anywhere.

I haven't read about any response to this mornings tweet showing folks pointing guns at peaceful walkers encounters to the city hall.

It is always an error, not briefed or something. But in any case, not "my" fault. Stand up and take responsibility...something I have seen you post on here.

If you are talking about the incident in St. Louis, those “Peaceful walkers” had just broken through a locked Iron gate in a private neighborhood and that couple with the guns were standing out in front of their own house. Some of the “Peaceful walkers” also had firearms.

Yes, and I’m so embarrassed

Since I am a social liberal and fiscal conservative ... I'm stuck between the two ideologies. Oh ... wait ... I almost forgot that neither party is fiscally responsible anymore ... now I'm really stuck.

I'll bet that if you had a peaceful Biden golf cart parade that no one would be standing on the sidelines verbally attacking you and comparing you to the likes of Hitler. The media would give you flowery, glowing coverage, I'm sure.

Personally, I do not see the big deal. A few folks got over heated and made some regrettable remarks, period. It happens every day, somewhere. I did not really wish to move here from the wooded area I had made my home after retirement, but made the choice so that my spouse could be happy. I do not regret my decision and thoroughly enjoy my retirement here. What others think about this place has absolutely NO bearing on my feelings about The Villages. Heated responses related to politics is entertaining. I have a neighbor that is usually quite pleasant, until someone mentions our president. Then she becomes Mr(s) Hyde and starts foaming at the mouth, spittle flying and considerably vulgar with her language. It is almost as if she was demon possessed. Other than that, she is exceedingly pleasant and a very good neighbor.
The point is that everyone has their own opinion and should not be "classed" when it comes to political leanings. I do not understand the opposition's reasoning against this president and just write it off to misplaced priorities. Apparently, appearances and personality is more important than accomplishments. But, I digress.
TV is not blemished by the publicity of one or two heated and out of control folks. If you want to see attempts to diminish the success of this outstanding place, simply subscribe to that rag that we cannot mention on here. Daily disparaging reports linked to individuals with their mug shot posted on the front page, and the insinuation that these miscreants are TV residents. DUI arrests, Domestic abuse arrests, indecent acts, etc. While one TV newspaper is positive and inspiring, we have an outsider rag set with the intention of destroying the successful reputation of The Villages. In my opinion, there are always those that are jealous of folks like us that are happy residents here.
If someone was to ask me about the incident (they haven't yet) I would simply respond that we have folks from all over the country that RENT or purchase here. I add that I am quite happy here and completely understand if they feel too intimidated by some minor incident to visit us. I tell them that if not for the media's biased reporting, I wouldn't even have known the incident occurred.
Some folks insist on scratching at an itch until it bleeds. Those folks demonstrated that we have folks from all walks of life living here. We are not Stepford.

They were apparently on their way to "peacefully protest" outside of the Mayor's private residence which was located within that private gated neighborhood. The protesters were ticked off that the mayor had released the names/addresses of the citizens who were calling for the disbanding/defunding of the local police department. What could possibly go wrong?

The fellow who yelled "White Power" was in retaliation to her yelling 'Where's your Hood. You say nasty things, and you'll get nasty things right back in your face. Can you image wearing a T-Shirt that said, Veterans while riding in your own golf cart, and having this woman jump out in front of you and shouting nasty things right in your face!!

I'm not trying to ameliorate her actions (far from it) BUT everyone should realize that people who act in this manner are mentally deranged. There is no doubt about it! The dichotomy is that others are sleeping and defecating on the streets of California cities. :ohdear:

I also have the problem that I’m socially liberal and fiscally conservative. What struck me about the video, was that neither side of the argument showed any dignity. Made us look like trash.

Lots of blaming "the media" in this thread. This total event has nothing to do with the media, unless you want to point to the evening idiots at FoxNews.

Good message, this!

It would not surprise me if this was the last golf cart parade, or even parade, allowed within the confines of TV. We have a large group of black residents who live very quietly and keep to themselves. These are not people from the lower level of the income scale, they are professionals who just want what we all want, to live in a safe and beautiful place. I don't think they should be subjected to hearing someone scream racial slurs.

But then, I'm a pollyanna. I believe we all have the right to be treated in a decent manner no matter what color is our skin. I was lucky to have parents who were color blind and we brought our children up the same way. If the person screaming White Power was blind he would have no idea of black or white! It is learned behavior and has no place in our world.

Your message here is wonderful. The Villages is in many ways a wonderful place to live. But, there is here as well as everywhere a segment of residents who are still living in the dark ages of intolerance. When these people start acting out their negativity they bring shame and destruction to us all. When good people are attacked, physically or verbally, they often fight back automatically with physical or verbal weapons designed to hurt their attacker, which may include words or actions they would otherwise never resort to.
This hate has GOT TO STOP! The division has got to stop! The innocent get hurt along with everyone else. Preaching hate is NOT the way to achieve peace and understanding.
Wise words from one of my favorite movies when I was a child come to me know, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say ANYTHING at all!

Stay safe. Stay well. Peace, please.

Enjoy life, stay out of politics, and enjoy your retirement.

"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies."

No excuse for his words, none! Again blaming others does not make your bad behavior acceptable!

If that type of parade ever took place it would be interesting to see what arguments any protesters could have against a former VP to one of the nations BEST Presidents we've ever had.

It seems no one wants to own up to the fact that the president started this thing and knew who was going to like this among his followers, and like usual denies the whole thing . I was at the memorial service at 2 pm everyone was respectful no anti trump signs , there were people there who I know are Republicans . We all knelt or tried to for the over 8 minutes it took George to die , the service was over at 2:30! I was one of last to leave the bandstand because of catching up with an old friend when I got to Barnes and Noble parking lot to get in my car the golf cart parade was still forming at 3pm It’s been said and I’ve overheard the last couple of weeks that this was a spillover from out memorial , nothing could be father from the truth

The foul mouthed group of "political" protesters started it. The video proves it. I also have not heard anyone say it was a spill over from any memorial. Two separate events.

The women from Connecticut dropping the F bomb gave a worse impression of the Villages!

You should be. The Friendliest Hometown that I knew 11 years ago no longer exists. There is not enough infrastructure to support the growth. The surrounding communities do not have an adequate employment base to pull from to support the businesses. As all across America, hatred and divide exists here. All you have to do is read between the lines in these blogs and Next Door Neighbor. These two people should be ashamed of themselves. The woman does not represent residents of The Villages. She is trash. The man, he got caught up in the passion of the moment and his disgusting true feelings came out. And believe me, there are many just like him living here, they just keep their feelings to themselves, especially now, as everyone is trying to be politically correct when it comes to racial divide. I live here because I have a network of friends that I associate with that was established long ago. We do things together to keep both mentally and physically active. We support each other. TheVillages is not important to me, the friends are. I have not been to a square in 5 years. People fight over saving seats and they are open to anyone and everyone. The supply of golf courses can not support the demand. Not good. I wish I could paint a better picture for you. The newer residents are still in the honeymoon stage. The older residents know what is was like and what it is now.
