No major Democratic candidate has come here to campaign, they know they don't have chance. However, if we didn't have the virus, it would a good year if it's like in the past. I remember when Fox & Friends Morning Show were here and Foreigner played live, that was a huge crowd at LSL.

Yours is the best post on this whole thread. Thank you for bringing some commonsense to this hot mess.

Both political sides are at boiling point right now, and it takes very little fora situation like this to boil over into something physical. That is all we need to show the world a bunch of old people rolling around in the dust.

Thanks a whole lot...for that visual.

Do we need to bring back the water cannons of yester year?

John, if you research Democrats coming to campaign in TV, you will find that they are not allowed to do so. Biden came a couple of years ago and his bus was not allowed to stay, his bus drove into SS and he was asked to move on and out of TV. I believe I am right in saying that Obama was not allowed to campaign in TV. If you wanted to hear or see them you had to leave TV. You can search Biden and Obama campaigning in TV to read the real story. If Biden should win in 2020 it will be interesting to see how TV handles it.

So what is fake.

The bully foul mouthed woman and the sucker who took her bait......DO NOT REPRESENT The Villages or the event......it represented the 1% minority view of a riot instigating, politically driven, inconsiderate woman.
While practicing her 1st amendment right to free speech, intimidating/baiting others trying to do the same thing.

As always, you blame "somebody else", or the media.

WHO CREATED THE NATIONAL STORY ? It was created by a retweet, and of course you blame everyone and everything else.

There would be NO STORY if not for the tweet. Why do you ignore that ? I am sure there were bad behaviors on both side, and believe me, as the pot gets stirred every single day it will get worse.

As a former customer of P until I left simply because the open, loud, blatant actions (selling water with the name, jewelry carrying the name, soliciting comments from actual strangers..we were not the only couple to stop going there..this was approx 7 months ago) were not what I considered calm in the morning.

The activities were not sponsored by P, but a small group, but loud customers

The story was news because the leader of the free world with the largest bully pulpit that there is and who speaks for all of us....retweeted the video.

Otherwise it was old news from a week or so ago.

The story was not about The Villages, but it does bring "unwanted" press to us.

Sorry to say but you are spot on. The person shouting what people consider “white supremacy remarks” doesn’t help the image of The Villages. These parades should require a permit and signs should be required to be civil IMHO. Public streets are just that public streets but the golf carts that get there by multi-modal paths are private and belong to residents of The Villages. We “the residents” pay for them and pay to maintain them. Personally I’m “tired” of all the nonsense. People our age should act like adults and be civil toward each other. Sorry for the rant...

Cannot say much but I agree with you.

The accusations and personal attacks follow a pattern, just when our country needs the the opposite.

Not looking for blame.....just trying to focus on the real culprits/agitators.
There is no doubt about the selective manipulation and omission of what has been reported....including Trumps response.

That response has been well overused, don't you think ?

Nothing was omitted...you can see it all just about anywhere.

I haven't read about any response to this mornings tweet showing folks pointing guns at peaceful walkers encounters to the city hall.

It is always an error, not briefed or something. But in any case, not "my" fault. Stand up and take responsibility...something I have seen you post on here.

I do not care for either Obama or Biden but they should be able to campaign here. Listen respectfully and vote your choice.

Since the Morse Family (developer) contribute a lot to the Republican campaign election, I think they handle it the same as always, No Dems allowed.

I have to admit when I was 6 years old I shook Adlai Stevenson hand when he was running against Eisenhower. It was in Winter Haven and we had gone to Cypress Garden to see the show (now Legoland). My dad heard on the news that his bus was stopping downtown, and our motel was across the street. So we walked over and watched his bus come in. I actually can remember the event, he got off and there was maybe 4 people waiting, so he shook all our hands and got back on the bus and left.

Similarily, I am a life long Democrat, but I had the honor to meet and talk to President H.W. Bush and his wife while they were campaigning in NH. He was charming as was his wife. Barbara. At the time I was working for a major contributor to Pres. Bush' campaign and I got to see them for a couple of days. These were the days when nobody asked you what you were .... politically. At the time I had young sons and Mrs. Bush asked about them and what plans I had for them, she did say don't let them go into politics.

I considered it an honor to meet an American President and his party affiliation did not matter.

I grew up in the DC area and I have always respected the President of the United States. I may not have always voted for them, I may not always agree with their views but I would never be overtly disrespectful of them or any candidate running for office.

But, I must admit, I would be happy to live in TV at this point even (especially!) if that means that Dem candidates will be staying away. You can't be everything to everybody.

That's probably the first post of yours that I don't totally agree with.

I think candidates of all parties should have equal access. If I don't want to hear what a certain candidate has to say I don't have to attend their function.

Great story about an absolutely wonderful man.

Having spent most of my adult life actually working in politics (Republican), I recall fondly when in DC never being asked and NEVER heard people simply generally classify other Americans by their party affiliation.

The Bush family were/are simply great, and I feel for the verbal abuse they had to withstand.
