We all heard about how the recent rally in The Villages would be another Super Spreader event. “Peaceful protests” were okay according to the media, but rallies were Super Spreaders. Now that more than two weeks have passed since the rally and there has been no surge of new cases, you have heard nothing more from the media. The media sells fear to promote their agenda. They tell you what you should believe. And because they package it as “news” people accept it as fact.

Yes there have been several positive cases which have cancelled softball and other activities, not only from the "rallies" but also folk going outside the villages for events and returning.

This is a HIDDEN virus, you cannot see it, you may not suffer from it, but you can easily pass it on . Wearing a mask shows CARING about other folk and family getting it. So far the "I will NOT wear one attitude" has killed 240,000.A sad reflection on the folk in 2020.

Great post. The truth hurts.

Don’t know what constitutes a superspreader, BUT...there have been 239 more cases and 5 more deaths since 10/25. (The rally was 10/23) Superspreader or not, the 5 deaths may have been unavoidable. Yes, we do not know if these five people were at the rally or exposed to someone with the virus who attended the virus or got it somewhere else. Any organized event be it a protest or a rally are not a smart idea at this time. The focus here should be to contain the virus by doing SMALL things like wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding large gatherings. Rallies fall in to that last category. Plz help stem this virus...1more death or millions! Don’t be selfish.

There’s a concerted effort ongoing in this country to divide the country in two by promoting an “us vs them” strategy. They use terms like “ fear mongering” and “ fake news”, both terms heavily pushed by one side to accomplish this. It’s meant to promote an alternate set of facts they can sell so you to drive disbelief in the other side’s reporting.

When you disbelieve news about this virus, which not only kills but damages your organs enough your life expectancy can be shortened, it’s a concern for everyone in the villages

When a possible super spreader event turns out to not be one, it’s time to be thankful, not time to point fingers at the media.

I liken these COVID non-believers to having teenage brains. Teenagers don’t think beyond the end of their nose. They don’t think to the future. They think about what is in front of them, what gives them immediate pleasure and what they want to do. They are selfish. That is just them. Sound familiar?

The ************* online announced that tri-county area shows jump in Covid cases. So it is as expected after an event such as this.

Maybe the super spreader events are not the rallies. Maybe the supper spreader events are the fools who sit around getting hammered at the bars at places like City Fire, Red Sauce and a number of other establishments like all the country clubs that have happy hours. If and when it does hit TV this is where it will most likely start. Then you can tune into CNN and MSNBC because that is a story they will report on unlike so many of those they ignored.

PennyAnn 11-12-2020 08:53 AM

Two more local residents have died of COVID-19 as the tri-county area continued to show a steady increase in cases on Wednesday.

One of the latest fatalities was from Sumter County and the other one was from Lake County. They were identified by the Florida Department of Health as:

66-year-old Lake County man who tested positive Oct. 31; and
81-year-old Sumter County man who tested positive Oct. 16.

Twenty-three new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday in and around The Villages. Those include:

The Villages (Sumter, Lake and Marion counties) up seven for a total of 893;
Leesburg up seven for a total of 1,527;
Lady Lake up three for a total of 408;
Belleview up three for a total of 412;
Summerfield up two for a total of 472; and
Fruitland Park up one for a total of 212.

Sumter County is now reporting 3,108 cases – an increase of 12 from Tuesday to Wednesday – among 1,763 men, 1,314 women, 14 non-residents and 17 people listed as unknown. A total of 225 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 803 in correctional facilities. There have been 89 deaths and 300 people treated in area hospitals.

And how much data and hospital experience do you all really have? or are you using your expert google degree? The mis-use of information by both media and government is so blatant when you are privy to actual hospital data by named individual, as my wife does. And I have done data analytics / forecasting for a living for the last 30 years, and easily see cherry picking data to represent their reality, which means that they want a certain reality or outcome. . .

The other problem of the deniers, is that when the surge does come, like in Oklahoma a few months earlier, most conveniently forget and move on to the next idealogue confirmation stat, which is always take out of context with incorrect context. . .

must be the bubble effect. . .

Maybe some truth to the argument but it falls apart and loses credibility with the use of a tweet from someone who relies on his brother-in-law.

So, how many of those in the 'trending up' group actually attended the rally?

Testing and tracking plan

Maybe if our governmental leaders had...or....would put together a comprehensive testing and tracking plan we could determine where exposure came from, notify potentially exposed people, and minimize the numbers getting the virus and subsequent deaths......

Well that and Trump's Mount Rushmore event

Tell that to the elderly that died in States where the governors signed orders sending infected patients back to nursing homes.
