I have no problem either with "rampant nationalism" and I am a big fan of patriotic people. All these things come from realizing that we need to use common sense, take care of our own, save our money, don't break the rules we were taught as children and don't eat the bovine excrement dished out to us.

I am anxious to see what this report says. I don't like the decisions from The WHITE HOUSE lately on anything. Folks do seem to ignore the information passed to them and that is whether they are R's or D's. Anyone can act like a dummy and we are seeing examples everywhere we look.

RAMPANT NATIONALISM as defined in 1931

“A hint of the course the Hitlerites may pursue if they come into power in Germany was given recently in a speech by a party member to a group of Nazi medical men. Suppression of the "inferior" races of the republic, banishment of the Jews, wholesale sterilization of the "unfit," and other measures to insure Teutonic supremacy are part of the program. The fact that the Germans, for all their race consciousness, are far from being a pure stock, evidently did not occur to the speaker.”

RAMPANT NATIONALISM | News | The Harvard Crimson

Another slant on the same thing circa 2019...

Recently, the idea of Nationalism has been the topic of many conversations in the United States. Nationalism, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is "Loyalty and devotion to a nation, especially a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups."

The nationalistic ideals that have been spread all throughout the United States have resulted in lines being blurred between the concepts of Patriotism vs. Nationalism. These two concepts are entirely different, however, they seem to be more and more difficult to differentiate.

Nationalism vs. Patriotism

The following link discusses the difference between PATRIOTISM and NATIONALISM.

Nationalism Doesn’t Fit the American Nation - WSJ

As we listen to the moderns speak of being “patriotic”, it might behovee us to read and understand that difference.

There is a difference between “Americans first” and “Americans only”

Sharing a quote, accurate in my opinion, from Sydney Harris....

“The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.”

Sydney Harris's quote needs to be broadcast far and wide.

It dosent matter where a virus originates, what matters is how we react to it. Wear mask, get your shot, social distance. Also believe science not crackpot social media rumor spreaders.

In America we have this philosophical condition that is called not guilty until proven. So far no government body is going out on the limb to say definitely it is China's fault. The CIA just came out with their study saying they can't tell.

WelchNH 08-26-2021 05:08 AM

Well, the mutation of any virus into a more virulent strain is medically well understood- thanks, all you "freedom loving" vaccine deniers! I saw the link to the story and googled the credentials of the news provider: the owner, John Solomon" is outlined in Wikipedia and other credible sources. I stopped researching at that point.

I don't know if they were making germ warfare over there, but I don't think anyone did this on purpose. It would kill their own people. THINK.

I just read that a report is due out on this subject TODAY. I doubt anyone will believe it. No one believes anything from hardly anybody ANYMORE.

I stand and wait. I think some scientist will figure it out. I am an R and I like Fauci, even with that accent....that kinda grates on me.

Very true. If you don't listen to or read the news you are not informed; if you do listen to or read the news you are misinformed.
CNN and their ilk, slant everything to the left, Fox, and their ilk, slant everything to the right. Which is why I rely on my own common sense.

The lesson... We need to stop acting as god and producing things to kill us... because one day they will....

Until then, well I am counting down the days to retirement when I plan to join you all, play as much golf, swim as many lengths cycle and run as many miles as I can and to end as many nights dancing the nights away... And my only worry will be to avoid pulling too many muscles in the process....

Gain of function was being done in the lab in china.
This is not a naturally occurring event.
Chine controls ALL it’s media and will not let anything be said without approval.
Medical people can be as corrupt as anyone else.
Mao zedong killed about 50 million of his own people.
Stalin killed about 50 to 60 million of his own people.
Big pharm is making BILLIONS of dollars off a flu shot.

We are going to be dealing with this nasty bug for the rest of our lives. Right now it seems that our kids, grandkids and great grandkids will be as well.

Why aren't we mad at China? Does anyone really believe COVID didn't originate from China? Does anyone really believe China isn't covering up? They still haven't found the animal host so does anyone really believe COVID isn't man made?

This COVID thing is tearing our nation apart. Meanwhile, China continues to profit economically from this world wide pandemic. Why are we putting up with this? Let's start with boycotting the Beijing Olympics. Let's demand remunerations for the families that have lost loved ones and for all that have suffered due to China's negligence.

Mad at china? Seriously?

This conversation is a year and a half old and so predictable- go out and plant some flowers or vegetables and do something productive….

We will NOT be holding China responsible for Covid or punishing them in any way, father and son will see to it.
