After having played the disastrous Red Fish Run on Wednesday, playing Amberwood on Thursday was like dying and going to heaven !
Everything was green and plush. The greens were perfect with a nice collar surrounding them which gives you a chance at a nice chip without the club bouncing on hard ground. Tee boxes were level, groomed and in very good condition as were the fairways and other areas from tee to green . I’m not sure what else to say other than the maintenance crew appears to be taking pride in the work they are doing. Amberwood deserves an A + |

Amberwood was completely renovated earlier this year. Redfish Run will be renovated shortly. Redfish has old diseased greens. In addition to new greens, the collars and quite a bit of other grass will be replaced. Bonita Pass is currently being fully renovated. Tarpon Boil needs complete renovation as well. They can only do so many per year.

Amberwood is the best course that has been redone. They should take notes on what was done on this course. I have played the other courses that have had rehabs and they dont even compare, I feel they have been a complete waste of money.

Agree, it’s mind boggling how the greens on two recently renovated courses can be 180 degrees apart. Quality control across all Executives is severely lacking. Try playing Amberwood and Chula Vista back to back!

I’ve played Amberwood few times over years cause it close to me. IMO it has never been in real bad shape. But, I not picky or avid golfer and came from city okieland hard pan clay.
