We just got to our Villages home after a long summer up north and found one of the podocarpus hedges on the side of our birdcage covered with some kind of spreading vine. Not only does it look unpleasant, but I’m afraid it could take over and suffocate the podocarpus plants. The hedges are 9 years old and this is the first time we have seen these vines? I would greatly appreciate feedback from those in the know about what the growth is and how I can eradicate it without damaging the privacy hedge. FYI, our back yard abuts a wildlife preserve, so whatever it is could have had the seeds blown in from the preserve. Below are a couple pictures.

Official results have not been posted, initial estimates fire may have occurred in garage. Possibly Golf carts?

Last week friends had a small garage fire, while charging e-bike, several other batteries.
Fire was caught quickly with some damage to wall and cabinets. Fire Department stated if they weren’t home, obviously damage would have been greater.

To be clear,... Hi Everyone,
We are looking for recommendations for a local Fee-Only Financial Advisor / Tax Planner in or around The Villages area.
To be clear, we are specifically seeking a strict fee-only fiduciary—meaning someone who is compensated only by hourly rates, project fees, or a flat fee, and does NOT take commissions, sales loads, 12b-1 fees, or sell insurance/annuities.
What we're looking for help with:
• Tax-efficient retirement distribution strategies (Roth conversions, RMD management, FL tax considerations).
• One-time financial plan checkup.
• Someone local (or willing to meet in person) who understands the specific needs of Florida retirees.
If you have personal experience with a true fee-only CFP® or CPA/PFS firm locally that you’ve been happy with, we’d love to hear who you use and why!
(Please, no pitches for commission-based products, annuities, or "free consultation" dinner seminars. We are only interested in pure fee-only fiduciary practices.)
Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations! ]]> The Villages, Florida, General Discussion Redstag https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/villages-florida-general-discussion-73/recommendations-local-fee-only-financial-advisor-tax-planner-370268/ Brazilian https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/just-fun-109/brazilian-370267-new/ Mon, 26 Oct 2026 05:17:37 GMT A woman is watching the news with her husband when a newscaster says, “Six Brazilian men die in a skydiving accident.” The woman starts crying and... Traffic at a 4-way stop WILL BE horrible when Walmart opens. Looks like GC path around 260 feet could be installed from Kathy loop to VA parking lot along the wall. At least this would keep the majority GCs out of street in front of Walmart. Especially being the made two entry/exit between 4-way stop and Phillips gate. I would also think a stop light added at CR42 and Phillips entry with the heavy increased traffic turning into Walmart/ Phillips entry? If not will be another demolition derby.
