I did enjoy the scene where Grace tries to discourage the attentions of her younger boyfriend because she is tired of getting up in the middle of the night to look "naturally" gorgeous! Is it only my impression, or has G & F discussed more about age-related issues than ever before? And now on to watch Shameless. |
Eyebrow tattoo, who to go too
Lots of old posts whom people love but nothing current. Joanne from Jaylee has retired. Who’s the best of the best. Who would you recommend.

Word of mouth says Cindy Fowler is excellent; and she already has appointments in November. |

Now you've had your eyeliner for two months, are you glad you did it? I'll send you a PM. |
We have been planning to “cut the cord” but a few days ago, I watched Dietland on AMC and On Demand.
It is one weird show. But it sure has an interesting premise. It is based on a book — that I have not read. All the acting is really good. The actress who was “The Good Wife” is not so good now. She could make that boss in “The Devil Wears Prada” look like Mary Poppins. I am now putting off getting rid of cable — at least until I find out what happens to Plum. And just who is Jennifer? Really? |

I have been seeing Kevin at Cal’s In Spanish Springs since he started there. About 5 or so years. He has always given me the style or perm I have wanted.
I give him 10 plus stars. Phone number - 352 753 3377. |
EPPuttman, Blue cloud????? Check the date. I have lived here 8+ years now.

My mother had black hair (wish I had inherited that instead of mouse brown). When she started to go gray, she got a bottle of Clairol black dye and came out with purple hair.
But I've never heard the term blue cloud and would like to know what EPutnam means by it. |
Kim at K-Rae's Salon in Spruce Creek Terrace Shoppes in front of Spruce Creek, across from Walmart on 441. Great prices and great work. 352-307-5600

I am getting my eyebrows and eyeliner done in November.
I hate pain (I daresay most of us do). I'm getting nervous already! |
Bare, I am having my lips done August 23 an am very nervous about it. However, I have had eyeliner done and it truly was painless. Cindy said the lips would not hurt so I just have to trust her.

Thanks for the report; as you know I'm also using Cindy. I'm having eyebrows and eyeliner done in November. I don't get my lips done until January. I eagerly await your report. |
I had someone email this to me. Yikes, not encouraging.
I think it depends a lot on who does the work. In the past, I've seen a lot of fake-looking eyebrows. Cindy has done "work" on herself and it looks great. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif I'll be interested to see the result. I've seen one of each, and they both looked fake. But that was a few years ago... perhaps things have gotten more realistic lately. |

Starflyte, how did your lips turn out? |
Quote:
It was a comment made to Star who was looking for a Dorothy Hammil cut, so I don't think it's purple hair. |
I had permanent make-up done in November by Cindy Fowler, both eyebrows and eyeliner.
Cindy says that the first appointment doesn't result in much color. I'm waiting for the touch-up appointment in January 2019 before I decide whether I like it. |

That was before they came out with all the newfangled blood thinners which have pretty much replaced warfarin. Please remind me in January after I have the touch-up appointment. Cindy says that the initial appointment doesn't result in much color. Cindy books six months out, so you should probably make an appointment now if you want to use her. She probably wouldn't do permanent makeup for anyone on blood thinners, but in six months, you should be ready? |
I had to stop aspirin .81 5 days before my appt with Cindy.

If you're back, I'd like to get together to see your lips - please PM me. I guess you're probably busy with Christmas plans. We are going to spend Christmas in Cocoa Beach. Perhaps early January? |

She has offered to let me see her lip results. I've had eyebrows and eyeliner done and I have a touch-up appointment in January. It is my intention to get lips done in early 2019. I don't think Starflyte would mind me telling you that she had eyeliner and lips done. So we can let you see the whole shebang in Stages 1, 2 and 3. |
Love my eyebrows, created an almost instant lift. Get lots of compliments. No hurry to do lids or lips but would love to see others results. The lips, I have heard, can develop some scar tissue, plus with the wrinkles do not want to emphasis, just my opinion which really does not amount to much. Eyelids.....maybe down the road. But the eyebrows, oh ya, would recommend Kim Forsberg any day of the week, she is particular.
|
Bare, I stopped taking .81mg aspirin 5 days before.:) Also, certain vitamins. I doubt that anyone on thinners would be able to have the permanent make-up.
Would be more than happy to meet. Just say when and where. |

Pat, I would love to see your results after Christmas or sometime in early January. I am definitely going back for a touch-up appointment in January for my eyebrows and eyeliner. I really need to decide whether to have my lips done. Do you think having your lips done emphasized the wrinkles? |
GYN recommendation
Asking for my friend who is not on the forum: has anyone used James Flaherty, GYN, and did you like or not?
(I realize this is not as interesting as tattooing your eyelids...) |
"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" Season 2 is on Amazon Prime now.
I am liking it even better than Season 1. (The clothes (and the cars) are gorgeous, too.) It is set in the late 1950s. The family goes to the Catskills and Susie (Alex Borstein) manages to go along, incognito. (I had said to someone recently that I thought Alex Borstein should get an award for her role. I found out she already did.) |
I tried Rosy-Tone moisturizer for the first time recently.
I couldn't resist the advertising by Helen Mirren. |

I know that sometimes I sound like the Queen of Binge-Watching. I try to tell myself, I am not really the queen. I am just efficient with my television time.
Anyway, just had to let you know that Grace and Frankie, Season 5, will be on January 18. While you are waiting: You might like The Kominsky Method, also on Netflix. This one has Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin as two friends aging together. It is kind of like Grace and Frankie in that it is about some of the issues of growing older -- but from the point of view of men. (Ann Margret is in it. She is 77. Long time since Bye Bye Birdie. |

I realized there were some episodes I missed, like all of Season One. I tried watching The Kominsky Method; perhaps I just got a boring episode. Ann Margret is 77? Guess celebrities grow old also. I haven't watched Mrs. Maisel yet, but Season two is on my list. I didn't realize that Netflix had movies made for Netflix. I watched a Jennifer Anniston movie made for Netflix where she is thin and won beauty pageants. She has a daughter that is buxom, not a bad movie if you're an Anniston fan. |

I also binged Homecoming with Julia Roberts. It was good but of the two I prefer Mrs. Maisel. |

Homecoming is available? On Netflix or Amazon Prime? I'm a Julia Roberts fan. |

Amazon Prime. My picture? Thanks but I don't think it is entirely representative of what I really look like. As I said on another thread, a few more pounds and perhaps some botox and then I will take a current picture so that I won't be accused of catfishing.:1rotfl: :1rotfl: |
I nominate Vanity Fair from Amazon Prime for the best binge since Downton Abbey.
Vanity Fair is set in the early 1800s. (again, the clothes are a bonus) William Thackeray wrote Vanity Fair in the mid-1800s, at first as a serial published by Punch in 20 monthly installments before being published as a book. (How did they ever get along without the opportunity to binge on a story.) Thackeray subtitled his book A Novel Without A Hero. It was written as a satire on English society with its distinct class lines -- when those of higher rank were known for their obsession with knowing one's place and staying in it. And those who were left out could be obsessed with getting out by moving up, whatever it took. The story centers around Becky Sharp who is determined to rise above her class. She has the brains and the beauty to get a lot of things done. Her machinations are memorable. I think many of you will consider Vanity Fair to be binge-worthy. (I am not finished with it yet, up to the 3rd episode and trying hard to wait until tonight to turn on the television. But I know I can recommend it without hesitation.) |
