WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU GO GIRL! |
Re: Girl Talk
Gracie, seriously stunning! I'd say it takes years off you but you're always so young to my mind it would make you a teenybopper.
And Bare, would love to see the new do. I bet it suits you perfectly -- slightly wild, totally cool and very nice. |
Re: Girl Talk
GG .. you two make a stunning couple. Red is your colour.
Red, I was cool once, a long, long time ago, before the hot flashes started! Hope your moving plans are going well. |
Re: Girl Talk
Graciegirl, I love your haircolor. You look lovely and I can see why hubby is so smiley, hot woman on his arm!! :#1:

Re: Girl Talk
I'm putting this in girl talk because I don't think any men would be too interested!
I really like Sarah Palin (except for the moose hunting). And I know that personal appearances don't matter. And I know that she is a lovely woman, and a good candidate. (Chels, go back to political ;D) However, is my imagination, or does she really have a .................. beehive? |
Re: Girl Talk
Funny you mention that Bare
Just last night during her speech I told my hubby that if she is the next Vice President, the hair stylists would have a hay day with her and her hair would be the first thing dramatically changed! |

Re: Girl Talk
Personally I am letting my hair grow. Beehive...great style for humidy...lots of hairspray.

Re: Girl Talk
Bare, you are so right.....I like her also, but my first thought was, "Oh honey, we need to have a chat about that do." :o

Re: Girl Talk
I so agree...she needs a new do.
I am surprised at how much I was impressed by her. This election is suddenly going to be interesting. :cop: sorry topic cop I just had to add that opinion. |

I'm also impressed by Sarah Palin, what self confidence. I don't like the fact she hunts moose, but I guess that helped her develop balls. (Am I allowed to say that?) The VP debate will be amazing. Did you see the way Sarah Palin's little girl smoothed the hair of the baby. That (of course) has nothing whatsoever to do with politics. But I thought it was a truly touching moment. |
Re: Girl Talk
I think Palin's youngest daughter Piper is just way too cute, charming and seems really mature for her age. I agree Bare smoothing her brother's hair like that, was such a loving gesture. Very sweet.

Re: Girl Talk
Bare, I heard a Democratic pundit say through his teeth, "hasn't she heard of contact lens"? I wondered how all the people unable to wear contact lense and require glasses take that hit on their appearance.

Re: Girl Talk

BTW, because this is Girl Talk we don't have to talk about political issues, just girly stuff. Meow, meow. Strangely, all of a sudden, glasses and beehives are back! Gov Palin probably doesn't even need glasses .. just part of her librarian/hot babe personna. The whole media buzz about Gov Palin is funny to watch. But soon she'll be yesterday's news and they'll be back discussing issues, which is actually what should be the focus. |
Re: Girl Talk
I wear contact lenses, Bare, and glasses for reading and backup when the contacts are out. I had my eyes examined 2 wks ago and was looking at frames and liked the smaller lenses sizes in the frames I saw. Being a fashionista back in the day, I wore those huge frames that were popular in the seventies before I got contacts. I don't want to go back to those but I suppose it's a possibility they will come in fashion again, ugh! :o

Re: Girl Talk
Unfortunately, I do remember those frames, Bare, and now all the glitz is coming back in style. That's why I'm afraid the huge frames with come back in also. ::)

Re: Girl Talk
Oh, remember the character that Cher used to play on the Sonny and Cher Show? What was her name? She wore a skin tight animal print leotard type outfit with the jewel encrusted wing tipped glasses.
Are we heading that way? Wonder how that style will look with tummy rolls??? Hmmmm, what a visual that is! |
Re: Girl Talk
Oh, Susan how funny.
Cher's character also wore long earrings with a big pink plastic ball on the end, and chewed a huge wad of gum...... Lord help us ...that can't be coming back. The animal prints have come and gone several times...but the pointed rhinestone encrusted glasses...oh please deliver me...I just couldn't take that, especially with all the bumps and lumps I have acquired. 1rnfl 1rnfl |
Re: Girl Talk
Can't you just see all of us Beads, dressed like shades of Cher's character ... and then freezing? :a20: :a20: 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl :a20: :a20: 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl 1rnfl
What would the band say about that? |

It would kind of be like that scene from the movie "Rat Race," with all the women dressed like Lucy Ricardo going to the Lucy look-alike convention!!!

Re: Girl Talk
Hi Bare, I just learned today that you are very lucky that your Key Lime tree is doing so great. When you redo your lanai if at all possible do not move it.
Jim from the Extension Service was here today and told us that Key Limes usually do not thrive here due to the frost that we have in this area. We will add a Valencia orange tree and a grapefruit tree to our citrus grove. We are also putting in some trellises where we will grow grapes, vines and who knows what else. Glasses with rhinestones - I just gave away a pair to the Lions Club. Laverne Party - does that mean I have to re-buy one of those all body girdles? Susan I know it will eliminate all bulges and create new cleavage. I hate to admit I used to wear one of them, then there was the long leg girdle for under slacks and the long line bra that had a zillion hooks in the back. OMG when I think of what I used to wear. The bee hive hair do - had that hair do when I got married. Tried to comb my hair out which was more like the beginnings of a nest - full of knots. I think it took me three days to comb it out. Count me in when you have the party - don't mean to be a party pooper but I think I will not wear all the undergarments - will get a modified Bee Hive though. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
HB, you can wear the body armour or not up to you, but you must wear the leotard. Won't we all just be hilarious?
Hey, have fun on your upcoming trip. |

Re: Girl Talk
I would like all of you to meet Madge - a woman I admire. I have found her in all of you Peeps. Thank you for sharing "Madge" with me.
Madge is the perfect match for Rocky, her husband. She's adventuresome, realistic, cheerful, about 20 years older than she looks and 40 years older than she feels. She must be doing something right. Music plays a big part in her life. She plays the drums and loves country music -- even the horn on her pink convertible Cadillac plays Dixie. You don't have far to go to persuade her to sing for a crowd. Give her a good Country & Western song and she's yours. I should mention that she has a full set of bull horns on the front of her car and wears a western hat. She's against blood sports. She's as spontaneous as Rocky (her husband) is and much more than a pretty face. She tells Jean (her daughter in law) that their marriage may not be the longest marriage on record, but 'by golly' it's tremendous fun. She's off to Mongolia or Libya or the Congo at the drop of a hat. She can shoot the rapids as easily as she can visit Graceland. The last thing she seems to want is to sit in the big house in Hampshire and mingle with the snobby country set. Rocky and Madge would much rather have bacon and eggs than toast and coffee. No sensible diet for them. No acknowledgement of terminal illness. No concern over cholesterol. Or testosterone. Every moment is valuable. Every day is to be lived to the ultimate. They have no time to sit and wait for something to happen -- instead they prefer to make things happen. Madge tells Lionel that if they ever think that they are old enough to know better they should have themselves put down. They live totally in the moment. Time doesn't matter to Madge. What is in the time that matters. I love the way they play with one another and with everyone else. Lionel tells Jean that sooner or later Rocky and Madge are going to be put away. Jean assures Lionel that wherever they get put away they will cheer the place up no end. They cope with old age, she says, by refusing to accept it. Madge says that the two of them never bother to read warning signs because if they did, they would have missed doing many of the things they've done. Those things include shooting the rapids, wandering the globe, dressing in comfortable clothes, and getting off on country music. He gives up the security of a the big home in Hampshire and opts instead for an unencumbered life with a woman who is a perfect match for him. Rocky doesn't appear to be afraid of anything. I think that a person who is dying must have suspicions that suggest something is afoot. Rocky doesn't ever let these suspicions get in his way. Clearly Madge knows that Rocky's time is limited. They both continue to live life to the fullest, even in a shared hospital room Rocky is, for me, one of the most likeable characters I have known. I've never seen him waste even a moment of time worrying about his creaking bones or his hearing loss or his lack of success. He's a happy man and it shows. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
I'm wondering if anyone has seen the new movie "The Women" with Meg Ryan and many other great actresses. I was really looking forward to seeing it. The reviews have been scathing to say the least.
Rotten Tomatoes gives it 10%. If anyone sees it, please let us know what you think. |
Hi, I am just saying "Hello" so that I get all new messages on this thread.
If there is an easier way to get post and updates from your favorite threads please let me know. Lost in Cyberspace. HB |
