I had worked quite a bit on a Toyota Van and got my hands rather dirty. Kind of fun to get into car manuals. That was around 2015 or 2016. |

The Thread About NOTHING
Today’s progress in pictures

Since I don’t have to wake up at 03:00 and drive to Manhattan, it’s all good. In the past few months I’ve came to this conclusion. “ the future ain’t what it use to be “, thanks for that Yogi. Also want to thank the great NOTHING who invented the electric impact wrench. These old bones ain’t what they use to be. Besides, that’s what all the kids use today. Problem is they don’t know how a slip clutch works. Ain’t my problem anymore, I did my best. I had an idiot kid use a cordless drill to disassemble my microwave under warranty 2 days ago. Freaking lazy SOB. I told him go out to his truck and get hand tools before you reassemble it. Huh, he says. Listen idiot, you’re not working on a diesel truck, your drill will strip out what you’re screwing into. Forget it I said, I’ll put it back together myself. I’ll let you test it when I’m done. |
Nice work there Mr. Goodwrench. It's not nothing, it's really something.

Hope you get this thing back together soon though. I'm with your wife - I'd be on edge hoping NOTHING happens between now and then! |

I don’t know how to respond in words, so I’ll say NOTHING. But here’s a pic. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c66e2a4942.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
That pic is NOTHING but beautiful.
I'm assuming you'll be back in the garage all day today. What's the weather like down there? It's going to be a crappy day here - NOTHING but rain and gloom all day.......same as yesterday. Can't wait to get to the Sunshine State full-time. |
As the man once said, "one thing I know, is that I know nothing"!

The temps in Santa Rosa, CA; Redwood City, CA; Scottsdale, AZ; and Reno, NV sometimes look more attractive than those in the Villages though. |

Unfortunately, I often have to be reminded of it so thanks, 2B, for that reminder today. |

Your wife is a bit younger though, and if I remember correctly what she does, she would probably have quite a few options down there. Not so sure about my options in that respect and the opportunities aren't as abundant as hers would be. I'm like you - if I decide to work, give me something menial at this point in my life. I'm not good at doing NOTHING either so I'm sure I'll be doing something. My husband, on the other hand, who is in the same profession as I am has been done with it for 5+ years now. It's an early burnout job for those who work it full-time. But he does not lack the desire to be productive either. Give him a yard to landscape, or a kitchen to tear out, or a car to work on, etc, and you would think he was NOTHING but 30 again. However, the next day always reminds him he's definitely not - lol. |

I'm sure I'll spend the first year riding around on a new golf cart getting to know the neighborhood.. lol |

Even with a great sense of direction it will be close to a year before you can instictively drive everywhere. Fun learning your way around most places. People driving around you not so much. They expect you to zip around like you have Wiottes engine in your golf cart. I don't give them Nothing, I wouldn't give them the sweat off a grape

You'll appreciate this one. My husband and I were walking a neighborhood around dusk one evening. A couple came toward us with some very visible, reflective clothing on. We made mention that they certainly could be seen easily at that time of day. Here, they were coming from a Gold Wing party down the street and were dressed in their riding gear. Next thing we knew they were taking us into their garage to see their new bike and then their house to show us a model we had not seen before. NOTHING like the people in The Villages. Of course, you already know that to some extent from your cruise encounters. |

It will be an adjustment when we move. Both good and not so good.. We're on close to 5 acres. We have lots of privacy but not many neighbors. Nobody cares what we do to our house or property. Nobody cares if I tinkle in the bushes.. lol On the plus side I'm looking forward to not having to take care of this property anymore. It'll be nice meeting new people. The entertainment/activity options are endless in TV.. And of course the WEATHER! IF NOTHING else I'm ready to get out of the wet here.. Now if I can talk Mrs. Howell into letting me get another Goldwing.. |

About that bush or behind the shed tinkling. Forget about that here. What I use when I’m getting down and dirty around the yard is a lysol bottle in the garage. Perfect neck size even for a well structured man. I keep it in the garage with a 1/2” of bleach in it. NOTHING beats the manly art of whizzing behind an oak tree but this is what we got. One thing, don’t keep the bottle where your wife will find it. Only bad things could happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The wife was talking about planting some more apple trees. Then I explained I had hoped to be out of here before they started baring fruit.. lol.. But we are starting to think about things we buy. Will this be something we'll want to move? Is it something we can live without until we move? How many yard sales are we going to have before we move? lol NOTHING but things to consider.. |
