On the Santa Trip To Hell's Half Acre, we followed two different routes we never used before.

On the way up to Hell, Route 95 to Route 26 to Route 77 to Route 81 to Route 78. If it wasn't for the terrible weather going up I swear this way would have been way

more stress-free. The part of the ride on Route 81 with the Mountain Views and being stuck behind trucks trying their hardest to climb the Hills was just BEAUTIFUL.

NOTHING could stop me from going that way next time.

The secret to getting out of Heaven (The Villages) and heading towards HELL is using Route 301 to get to Jacksonville. It's actually 441 to 301 to Route 10 East. Just

reverse on the way to Heaven. Route 95 to Route 10 West to Route 301 South. The speed limit on 301 fluctuates because in some areas it looks like Mayberry, we think

we saw Barney Fife! They really deserve mucho credito for the improvement to 301 since we move down here almost 3 years ago. It is beautiful. Maybe 50 of those rents

by the hour Hotels. All of them were crispy and clean looking and a whole lot of bars along that route. We were coming thru there at about 2am and I don't know or care

what time they close.

They ride was truly an actual miracle that we made it without any incident. Driving in The Villages is a breeze, I'll take the occasional Ding Bat here than the collective

clowns we witnessed on our trip.

In total coming and going, we easily spent over 8 hours sitting absolutely still on Route 95 in Virginia and Route 95 in South Carolina. Whataya gonna do! We made it back

here and the fog is just lifting from the adventure. We traveled much more comfortably in a Sonata, Who would have ever thunk it. Half the price of other cars we've

owned and the gas mileage was 39 MPH and we were comfortable. Mrs. Nucky said it first about how well the car felt and how nice it was to not hear me crying about

getting blown all over the road like in our Ford Transit Connect. I'm still trying with the pictures, Patience Grasshoppers, I'll get it.

Platelet donation today.

6th platelet donation over the Oct-Nov-December 2018 period at One Blood so I should be up for a $60 gift certificate and a single $10 one.

Not for NOTHING One Blood is doing another one of these with various denominations if you give platelets 2-6 times in the January to March 2019 period.

Nice people there at One Blood. I have been donating since around 2007 here in the Villages' area with some also done for Life South and Florida Blood Services in the Tampa Bay area. One Blood is a creation of a merger of various blood donation groups including Florida Blood Centers and Florida Blood Services.

Florida's Blood Centers Reviews | Glassdoor

I will be up to 25 gallons via One Blood's count even though the real figure is close to 27 gallons. I gave them my count back in mid-2007. And they have been using that guess and their counter.

Thanks, Nucky, for posting this info. The route you took up is exactly the route I am hoping to take on our next drive down. You answered the questions I had about it being less stess-free and without a doubt I thought the scenery would be much nicer. NOTHING but appreciate you taking the time to post this.

I have a few questions this New Year's Eve. First, do our resident party animals have plans for the evening or will you all be doing pretty much NOTHING like me? Which brings me to my next question - how do we celebrate it collectively if we wanted to? Traditionally of course it is celebrated at 12 midnight. Highly unlikely that I'll still be up. I'm so tired from all this cleaning if not for having to make dinner I'd probably be in bed now - lol. Isn't traditional TV celebration time at 9pm or is that just a rumor I heard? Then there's K - what to do about him? No way will we be awake when midnight strikes in his neck of the woods.

So what would be the best solution to this NOTHING dilemma if we all wanted to sign in and say Happy New Year to one another? Not that we have to, just a thought........

It's almost NOTHING but party time for us. Our neighbors host a really fun neighborhood party every year. (Elvis will be in the room) :a040::boom::mmmm::wine:

Good for you! Sounds like fun! We were supposed to get together with our neighbors but they decided to take a ride upstate to see their daughter and family. Ended up working out for us as well with the last minute notice of my aunt and uncle coming. I think I'd be too tired to be much company tonight.

I find around here that people of our generation don't do much unless it's a neighborhood thing. I think the danger of driving around here on NYE and the overcrowding and ripoff prices at many restaurants keeps many at home.

Whoops.......NOTHING like ending the year forgetting your NOTHING - lol

Abby10 12-31-2018 05:19 PM

Seriously, 2019 is the year of the pig? Hmmm......maybe those pigs were NOTHING but bringing K some early New Year's cheer when they broke out and ran to his house.

Great! Then I don't have to stay up for either since I'm NOTHING but confident that you're capable of ushering both in single handedly - lol. So how did Mrs K end up with both Christmas AND New Year's?

That's just how her department operates. This year she has Christmas and New Years. Next year NOTHING. That allows people to take the entire holiday off.

Nucky 12-31-2018 07:58 PM

We rarely if ever go out on New Year's Eve. It to us a Big Fat NOTHING. When I was still getting my Drink On, Thank God that's over for today we called it Amateur Night.

I'm the luckiest NOTHING outta yous all, That's because I have each of you as my Pal's, I'm one humongously grateful NOTHING. (BURGER)

Yaaay.........we have a few more NOTHINGS at the NOTHING NYE party. My hubby woke up so I guess the party's not over yet. No drinking here either though. He asked me if I wanted to have at least a glass of wine, not that he wanted any, and I said, "Do you want me awake or asleep?" I doubt I'd get through one glass before nodding off.

2018 has blessed us all with the relationship building that has occurred here on NOTHING, but I think 2019 will be even better as we continue to solidify the bonds between us. I too am so thankful that all of you came into my life.

I knew I wouldn't make it either but since I nothing but DVR'd New Years, I can celebrate it anytime I want to. Yet somehow it just doesn't seem the same so I will probably wind up deleting. LOL - how those people in Times Square stayed so many hours in the cold rain without being able to go to the bathroom I'll never know.

But we all made it so HAPPY NEW YEAR'S to all of you.

You and I spent our lives within the shadow of Times Square and for this NOTHING I had no feeling whatsoever to attend the festivities. One year shortly after 2001 our kids went and had a blast and we sat home worried until they arrived home.

People from all over the world spend big money to come to the city and for the life of me, I don't get it. For us MEH! Yuck!

If you're going into the city for a meal and a show that just great but for me and mine, we prefer the BLUEFINSTER!

I never had any desire to stand outside in the cold. I was only an hour away from Boston but never went to First Night there either for that reason. My mode up north was NOTHING but hibernation.
