And yes, this is an actual club here in TV. If it wasn't, I wouldn’t have nothing to do with it. I’m a straight shooter, I don't really hang out with them criminal types...

You'll get nothing and like it.

Nucky 12-31-2019 08:36 AM

We were talking last night about where we were on New Year's Eve 2000. Our entire neighborhood had NOTHING but a plan and over reacted big time. People who never spoke to one another, you know the neighborhood power struggle macho bull thing was overlooked for the momentous event that never happened. People were crazy about they possibilities of what could happen. So like The Good Dr Winston O. Boogie reported we got NOTHING and liked it. Nice memory thanks.

Our two oldest sons and their girlfriends went to Time Square that afternoon and had a good time. It was around 32 degrees or maybe a little lower. They got home about 2.30 AM and when they went downstairs found the Hot Water heater had sprung a leak. What a night.

Our memory for this year will be out for lunch early then home by 7PM and out by maybe 10 PM if we can stretch it a little.

Happy NOTHING New Year Everybody!!

Spoiler 12-31-2019 09:06 AM

I remember that the Spoilers decided not to go over to the big city (Charlotte, NC) for NYE ‘2000 in case there was confusion in getting home with no traffic lights or whatever. We went to a Japanese steakhouse in our small town with our oldest daughter and son-in-law. Daughter was expecting at the time with our first granddaughter that finally arrived on Feb 29th 2000 (a true leap year baby).

During that new year’s eve time, I directed a workforce at an aircraft repair facility and I had some maintenance guys scheduled to be there at midnight to check for damage or failures. They reported NOTHING.

As we all know now, turns out the whole deal was the great Y2K hoax cooked up by the IT guys that wanted to make lots of overtime for a year or two.... LOL

(And for the record, the granddaughter will celebrate her 5th real birthday this February again on the 29th... She is doing well...)

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE. WISHING YOU ALL NOTHING BUT A HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAFE AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

I see that it is NOTHING but Sir Anthony Hopkins birthday today December 31. He is on page 621 of the 12th Edition, 1995 of Marquis Who's Who in the World. I am on page 622 in the same Edition. Bob Hope is also on page 621.

Pretty neat. I bought the volume back then when we lived in Rohnert Park, CA and were about 300 feet from movie production trailers that would often be at the Red Lion Inn. They had some kind of deal with the Red Lion Inn as there were there if my memory serves me right for all the time my parents lived in Rohnert Park (1986-1996). I was there on-and-off while living and working or going to school in the Twin Cities.

The book entry is about my 224 613 Project I expect as that was pretty much all I was doing from late 1991 onward even if I did not start using 613 until late 1992 when I started as subject #613 at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus in a study they were conducting on stress on the unemployed.

I would use this 12th Edition of Marquis Who's Who in the World often to write people some of these did have their work addresses in them . I am listed in other of these Marquis Who's Who in the World volumes among 13 other Editions of various works by them.

I had some very odd talks with strangers while avoiding the duck poop around the golf course that bordered our back yard and separated the Red Lion Inn from us. Would walk my pooch around the Red Lion Inn and other places. She was a rather square looking cocker spaniel. :doggie:

I have not made it past 12:00 AM New Year's Day in NOTHING but many years in the span from 2000 through now. Usually down-and-out by 11:30 PM.

The past 4 years or so we always had progressive dinners with 7 other couples on New Years Eve. It always started at noon. Each house was visited for 90 minutes and each had a drink, an appetizer, a part of the meal or desserts... or more drinks... :icon_wink:

That sounds NOTHING but nice. Our neighbor came by to drop off food today as his freezer is on the blitz. That is probably the only neighbor who will come by on New Year's Eve. Otherwise, it will be quiet.

So far, I mowed, blowed, and weeded earlier today and then got me a haircut. Then as this is our first New Years night here, I did got some us dinner reservations for 8pm. And we might just go to a square before that also. I still can’t really taste anything, but going out should be fun anyhow.

Other than that it should be fairly quiet and we will watch the festivities at midnight tonight on the ‘ole 19” Philco here in the front parlor.

Nothing much planned other than that...

Been watching Sylvester Stallone in the movie Rambo: First Blood. Funny that when I see him mostly what comes to mind is his sneaking into the Red Lion Inn in Rohnert Park, CA in a nun's habit to avoid the press even though I never saw much press around those movie production trailers which they often had parked there. He was in Sonoma County area to film Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. He was not one of the people I ran into while taking my parents' cocker spaniel for her walk near these movie production trailers. And not for NOTHING.

Do like Rambo: First Blood though and loved all the Rocky movies.

First Blood - Movie Quotes - Rotten Tomatoes

There were many uses of the word NOTHING in the movie Rambo: First Blood.

Quote:

Trautman: It was a bad time for everyone, Rambo. It's all in the past now.
John Rambo: For *you*! For me civilian life is nothing! In the field we had a code of honor, you watch my back, I watch yours. Back here there's nothing!
Trautman: You're the last of an elite group, don't end it like this.
John Rambo: Back there I could fly a gunship, I could drive a tank, I was in charge of million dollar equipment, back here I can't even hold a job *parking cars*!

Another celebrity who made a movie in the Sonoma County area is Cuba Gooding, Jr. whose birthday is today and not for NOTHING. This was the Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo movie Outbreak from 1995. Rene Russo - Rotten Tomatoes

I took special notice of this film as when the vial with the number 612 came up in this film the man behind me and my mother at the Petulama Theater leaned over and asked "Did you see that?" I was taken quite aback until I thought about those very odd conversations about duck poop on the golf course near the Red Lion Inn and our backyard which overlooked one of the golf course holes in Rohnert Park, CA. I did try to get a better look at this man and his male friend but did not as they left the movie theater rather quickly. Outbreak (1995) - Rotten Tomatoes

As this New Year has started, I guess I can give you all an update on myself. It has been 30 full days as of today since my radiation treatments ended and I am making really good progress. Here’s where I’m at now...

I can now swallow about any kind of food again with minimal discomfort. My taste bud sensation is just beginning to return and I can taste salt now. Nothing else, but the flavor of salt as of a week ago. It's a start, but it’s a good start as I have a lot of bacon to catch up on.

I still have to see a physical therapist as my mouth still doesn't open fully yet.

I also have to see a speech therapist as I still have a slight lisp when I speak. Mainly due to a still swollen tongue which is rapidly improving.

Caffeine or alcohol products are not allowed yet as they tend to dry you out and I’m not supposed to be getting dehydrated.

Additionally there is a high powered flouride treatment that I have to do every day due to the radiation permanently damaging my salivary glands and the root system of my teeth. I see a Dental Oncologist still for this. I am told that this will have to continue for the rest of my life.

Least of all of my problems, is that my mustache has not began to grow back yet and my hair is still missing in a big jagged patch on the back of my head. I look like I got into a fight with a drunken guy with a big dang can opener and I lost. (No offense if you happen to be a drunken guy with a big dang can opener...)

And of course most importantly, I have to be fully scanned (CT, PET, Barium swallow analysis and filming) during the latter part of February to see if the radiation treatments took care of the tumor that was on the base of my tongue, or if more has to be done. Certainly I am hoping for NOTHING but favorable results back from this testing.

And thats where I’m at in this process. I certainly have appreciated everyones words of support and prayers in the past 4 months.

It was NOTHING but having a lot of fun.

I asked a couple also walking a pooch where I was if they had seen the cat on a leash and the guy realized what he had seen just before. He said he saw something brown on a leash but was not sure what it was. The woman did not notice it.

I will have to talk to my lady friend from Philly as she drove up in her car with her pooch and was letting him out a few feet from where the lady had the cat in her own golf cart.

My dog sees a wild cat in our yard and he wants to give chase. Not sure what the lady from Philly's pooch did but will find out.

Happy 2020 to all. Since I have been "laying low" for some time (due to medical issues), I've had time to immerse myself in some organizing at home -- good projects that needed to be done.

My resolution for 2020 is to lose the 20 pounds that I gained back out of the 50 pounds that I lost in 2019! Thanks for nothing Nucky -- Cement Mixers Indeed!

Well maybe the steroids had something to do with the weight gain but I sure helped it along.

Spoiler so glad you are on the mend -- I understand your journey since I've been traveling along that road as well. But I continue to be in great spirits and very optimistic about 2020 and beyond.
