Our youngest son dropped in out of nowhere yesterday around 5 PM. This is NOTHING other than the man, I can't believe it he is a man, where did the years go? Who is 26 and already has 8 years in the Army. He is doing some training at Ft Benning in Georgia and stopped by and made our day.

We are proud of him and the love for our country that has grown in him over the last eight years. I NOTHING but planted that seed but it would have died without the help of Uncle Sam.

We laughed last night at stupid memories, just priceless. I don't know how the families of our Soldiers can endure their absence from any training or any deployment. Have to give them credit to just like another friend of mine who's wife deserves a pat on the back for keeping the home lights burning in a fellow NOTHING'S absence. The families are heroes too.

I asked him how he handled being separated from his new beautiful wife for so long and he said, Toughen up buttercup. Part of my job Dad. Whoa! Could have knocked me over with NOTHING.

We offered him dinner anywhere he wanted and he said I drove 6 hours not to see you guys, I drove for a home-cooked meal. He chose Steak and Spanish rice with the little beans in it. He ate like they didn't feed him in a month.

So proud of our guy and gals and of all the families and people in the service and others who risk their lives to save ours. :bigbow: Peace Out! Hope the people in the service never have to use what they have learned.

What a wonderful surprise Nucky! You have every right to be proud of that little NOTHING and his lovely wife. Our niece is married to a Marine and she has had to keep the home fires burning (as opposed to putting the wildfires out) for their two boys while he has had several tours overseas. He is now an officer and serving here in the US.

Good morning, everyone. NOTHING but crappy weather here, but maybe it will keep me inside finally cleaning up this neglected house and at least I'm not shoveling snow yet. If the amount of snowfall this year correlates at all with the amount of rain we've gotten, look out! Let's hope not.

It's Sunday, September 9th, and now I have a few posts to address........

Nucky, this is NOTHING but a heartwarming story. I'm so glad you shared it with us. Hard to believe he is only 26 and has his head on so straight and his act together. God bless him. What a treasure he must be and an inspiration for young people today. I can understand your pride. Thanks again for making our day with this story!

Put away the popcorn.....at least until tomorrow when I'll be working another 10 hour day. As for today, I'm NOTHING but chillin'.

Glad you added "for the day", otherwise that would have gotten me NOTHING but worked up.

Sometimes I think, how sad is it that NOTHING means so much to me? Nobody would understand that except you guys. Every time I think about stepping away from this for one reason or another, I think about how much I would miss my friends who I don't even really know.

As you can see, trying to explain NOTHING means absolutely NOTHING to someone who has no idea what NOTHING is. Hmmm, that would make for an interesting tag line. :1rotfl:

NOTHING is the only place where you can feel free to have an opinion and not have someone set out to prove how wrong you are.

I was wondering when that was going to be. You guys do NOTHING but a good job at working hard and playing hard....well, at least your wife does. I know working hard is not your MO.

Btw, NOTHING but jealous, but very happy for both of you. Great balance you have in your lives.

I used to want to go to Australia but the older I get the less I like to fly and 2 weeks is the most I enjoy on a cruise ship before I get tired of everything and want to come home. It looks amazing and I hope you have NOTHING but a fabulous trip.

We've been wanting to do this trip for years. But I couldn't bring myself to endure that flight. We're flying out of Vancouver. A 15 hour and 35 minute flight. I will need to be NOTHING but medicated and/or placed in a straight jacket.. lol

Bad enough from there but it would be NOTHING but intolerable from here. We would have to do it in stages but that would need at least a month and we couldn't leave the dog for that long.

Well now I don't feel so bad. That has always been my biggest drawback to those long flights. I barely made it to Europe and back. NOTHING worse than a long flight and RLS. I would have to be more than medicated - more like knocked out because I just wouldn't be able to sit that long. Or go on a plane that has a treadmill - lol.
