Both of our parents had NOTHING. They never spent money. They never travelled. They just raised their families. I guess that was the way of Depression era children..
We on the other had made a pact early on that as long as our retirement fund was on tract we were going to travel while we could still get around and enjoy it. We have no kids so no college to worry about.
The Villages fits into our plans quite well. We'll get to downsize. Have a place that we can lock and leave with a degree of confidence and as you said, be closer to cruise ports so we don't have to do so many cross country flights.. NOTHING but upside in my book.
