Nothing but agree. Especially the one on April 5, 2025. I had sent out to a few bunches of shows a lot of e-mails about 20-24 years ago. I was really hoping to put an emphasis on the needs of survivors/victims of crimes as relating to how different story tellers could make a difference. Think there were some other responses than what funny farm did you escape from and when? I think I did get one answer which made me think "Yea. Right. I am going to try that."

These view numbers are nothing but surprising. Someone from the NY State Department of Education had called our house the last time this thread had a high view count a few months ago. Just the regular scam callers today. The "do you remembaa" lady has an interesting accent but I never called her even though she calls almost every day saying I did. I rarely use the phone when talking about this stuff.

Around mid -August of 2020 my Mom had a big growth on her leg about the size of a grape. The person she saw recommended that we go down to the Brownwood area medical building to have someone look at it. While we were there I heard a lot of laughter as the lady we went to see was coming in. She was very professional and funny and removed the half of the grape that was sticking out and said she would find my Mom the best plastic surgeon in the area.


They did find my Mom an excellent plastic surgeon and while we were walking to the room that the surgery would take place some of the staff stood in the hallway. I was quite elated that perhaps all my work on the 224 613 Project had made some inroads. I could not think of what else this could be. And I had been using these two numbers often in my correspondence since mid -1993.

This is the first post of this Nothing thread. Started on the first day of 2018. The first one, if memory serves, was closed probably because of all the extensive cyberbullying on there. I still despise bullies. I remember when I was being threatened with a knife in Junior High in Reno, Nevada a Paiute leader even then had spoken to the kid who had been threatening me. We handled it. I did not know if the school 's adults had even heard about it. The last I looked that Paiute leader is still doing his stuff. Still leading.


I was kind of friendly with the junior high bully when we were both in high school at Earl Wooster High School. I had a class on Native American history with him in which I discussed the Fetterman fight with the class. And the teacher took us to various movies like Little Big Man, A Man Called Horse and maybe Tell Them Willie Boy Was Here.

The State of Nevada's WICHE chapter had forgiven my Stipend Grant after I had sent them a bunch of correspondence in 2000 about how my work would impact the people of Nevada. WICHE is the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. They forgave my loan in September of 2000. I had used the Stipend Grant to help pay for some of my expenses while getting my MA at the University of Denver in 1983-1984. Part of my 224 613 Project. I had been working three jobs at one point during the year I was in Denver. A really beautiful city when not smoggy.


I also hooked up with the girl next door. She had lived very close to us just outside of Milwaukee when we were there but we had then moved to Reno. She was planning on getting a MA in Librarianship and wanted to pick my brain while I was there. She was working just outside Denver. She did get a MA in Librarianship at the U of WI and married a lawyer in MA.

I was looking for materials while I was in Denver that would help victims/witnesses of crime deal with their circumstances and found next to nothing useful. I had been doing that in almost every place I visited after having been drawn into the Michelle Mitchell murder investigation pretty much on 2-25-1976. The day after she had been murdered near the University of Nevada, Reno on 2-24-1976. Found very little of use at the huge U of MN Law Library from 1986-1991.

They "solved" the Michelle Mitchell murder around 1979 but rushed to judgment because a mentally ill woman made a false confession to get a better room in her mental hospital in Louisiana. They finally got the right person in Rodney Halbower in 2014 following a DNA test on a cigarette that they had bagged back in 1976 at the scene of the crime. What a mess. Getting the wrong person allows the real criminal to keep on doing his or her dirty work. Halbower is a serial killer connected to the San Francisco Bay area and other places. Paula Zahn did a pretty good program on the events. Season 21. Episode 1. On the Case. "Crime and Injustice". And not for Nothing.

A Reno, Nevada cop or maybe a Washoe County one had come to talk to our Earl Wooster High School class around March or April of 1976. It probably would have been better if he had not come as he started telling us about Thomas Lee Bean who had been at Wooster around 1963 and had received world- wide horror after murdering British Olympic skier Sonja McCaskie. The manner of the murder and how the tabloids handled it forced quite a bit of these publications to change how they dealt with these stories.


The effect of this did make us suspect one another rather than uniting us. The murder of Michelle was on my birthday of 2-24 so people knew where I was that night. I was home opening presents.

I went on the You Grew Up or Lived in Reno, Nevada in the 1960 and 1970s group on Facebook to reconnect with some people and one of these was an ex-cellmate of Thomas Lee Bean. He described Bean as being a gentle, sweet and caring man. He avoided the death penalty in 1972 after some kind of case. Furman vs. Georgia. Looks like a Nevada 1970 case removed the death penalty as an option for juveniles.


Nothing but many of us had a hard time dealing with this.


There does seem to be a lot of help now for people pulled into the legal system. Victimology has come a very long way.

I had gone to the 1995 movie Outbreak at the Petaluma Theater in Northern California and when the 612 came up on the vial on the mother the person behind me had asked "Did you see that?". It seemed like he was talking to me. There had been movie production crew trailers a few hundred feet across from our back yard in the parking lot of the Red Lion Inn in Rohnert Park. So it was not a far-fetched idea that all my letters from 1991 onward had had an impact. And not for Nothing. I had been using 224 and 613 often in them. 613 starting in late 1992. And some of my letters had gone to people with connections to the movies. And I really admired many of the actors in Outbreak .

My aunt and I had gone to see her 13 Going on 30 at the AMC in Oldsmar, Florida and really liked it. This aunt was the wife of the Anzio battle veteran whom I had helped take care of in Fall of 1994 outside of Chicago. He had lost an arm, a leg and part of his skull while a scout directing fire on German positions. He had received a Silver Star for his heroism but had kept the medal tucked away in the attic. I went to the American Association of Law Libraries conventions starting in Reno, Nevada the Summer of 1989 right after I had graduated from the U of MN Law School in May of 1989 while also cataloguing all the computer files on Westlaw around that time. I had gone to the AALL conventions from the one in Reno in 1989 to the one in San Francisco in 1992.

I nothing but I had thought my career was assured as the Law Library Director there would soon become the Law Librarian of Congress.

But I just had to open up about my experiences in Reno, Nevada from February 25, 1976 onward.

I had taken the train down to New Orleans in the Summer of 1991 to go to the law librarian convention and also had been studying for the Minnesota Bar Exam. I had broached the subject of my problem with the availability of practical materials for survivors/victims of crimes to various U of MN Law School professors as well as law librarians I admired around the country.


While I was studying in my boxers and the like for the Minnesota Bar Exam I had ordered room service and put the plate outside the door but had been too slow at reaching for the closing door and had locked myself out of the hotel room with no key as there was really no place to put it .

I walked down the hall to get on the elevator and luckily was alone in the elevator but soon found myself among the dressed librarians who were very amused in my predicament. One even said "That is not all he has locked himself out of".

The hotel employees seemed to get it. But the law librarians not so much .

Nothing but very disturbing. I got a 251 out of a needed 260 points for the Minnesota Bar to pass but did request that my extenuating circumstances be taken into consideration but the people who administered the Minnesota Bar said that they would not make an allowance for that kind of situation. I really just wanted to get the matter on record and not for nothing.

The 1992 Summer San Francisco law librarian convention was pretty much the same. Basically just made a laughing stock of myself. But it was short and beautiful boat and car ride away up in Sonoma County. I went back and forth each day into San Francisco.

Made similar rides at the end of 1992 and into 1993 when I was subject 613 in a 17 week study on stress on the unemployed at the University of California San Francisco Health Sciences Campus. And went over all this in taped interviews with my interviewer.

After the study was I over my interviewer did tell me what I was doing was worthwhile. This was in person. Over the next decade or so I got nominations to 24 different editions to various Marquis Who's Who editions as well as many to International Biographical publications. And not for Nothing. The International Biographical thing was a vanity project. Looks to have gone under in 2012.

I had had about 6 students under me in 1988-1989 as a Co-Director for the Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners Minnesota Correctional Facility --Stillwater office and one of these was a young lady from the U of WI--Eau Claire. Near the end of the school year she asked me if I would like to move in with her in the Fall of 1989. I said yes and moved into a large house in Dinkytown for the Summer. This was renting a room and sharing living quarters with a few people.

During this time I was on reference desk duty while I would sometimes check the work of two undergraduate students who were doing document delivery. And also answering various questions on the reference desk. Some of these came from a woman who was defending herself in a criminal case in which she had been accused of chaining herself to a U of Minnesota mathematics professor's desk. She would also often stare at me for hours which was a little unnerving. Unfortunately she saw me and the lady from Eau Claire at the reference desk being a little more than friendly.


I had gone back to Northern California for Christmas break but the lady who wanted to be in chains fixated on my girlfriend but the law librarians seemed to defend her right to use the law library.


This went on and on until I believe after the woman from Eau Claire had graduated. Up until the point that the accused had followed me home from work. They finally said that that was enough. I had told the woman when she had done that that it was crossing a line that should not have been crossed.

They had probably banned her from the law library at that point. But she seemed to be fixated on me for most of the law school 1989-1990 year .


Nothing but strange. Never did find out how that stalking case against her from the mathematics professor went.

The woman from Eau Claire seems to have done great things with her career. She got married a few years after her graduation.


I had talked with her a lot about my fixation about the glaring hole in services in law libraries for survivors /victims of crimes but she could fend for herself quite well in that regard. The lady in chains though had the best treatment.

Got called for Jury Duty in Sonoma County, California and the Judge had said he had noticed me around their law library when I was looking at things in their library from the perspective of someone just pulled into the legal system as a victim/survivor of crime. The Prosecution bumped me from the jury pool in a narcotics case. This was somewhere around 1994 if memory serves and not for nothing. I might have mentioned my work with Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners at the U of MN Law School. Not sure.


I got bumped off the Pinellas County, Florida jury pool right after I raised my hand when the judge asked if there were any people with a legal system background. Several of us were dismissed.
