Morning paper says Saturday appointments would be contacted for rescheduling.

I realized that when I printed my sister's appointment email with barcode this morning. Luckily, mine was still in my glove box. |
Another GMR Communication problem.
I had first shot at Sumterville 2/18 and am scheduled for second on the 3/18. My issue is that today's paper states appointments from 9 to 5. My appointment is for 5:30. I was never informed by GMR that first appointment was changed to Sumterville from Buffalo Ridge so I'm not holding my breath waiting to be advised what time I should go for second.
I appreciate that we do have a vaccination site nearby and understand issues with scheduling and location but the communication from GMR to those who have appointments that have been affected is severely lacking. I'll just show up early on the 18th and hope I can get my second shot. |
My Saturday appointment is in three weeks. I’ll worry about it then. No telling where GMR will be in three weeks!í ½í¸‚

As of just yesterday my friend had an appointment in Sumterville and she drove there in the am to get her vaccine. She got there and there was a note on the door that the location was changed but they didn't know where the new location was. There were other people coming to that location and someone said they "heard" that the new location was St. Vincents Church on Powell Rd. My friend was driving back to TV and got an e-mail from the county saying her appointment was at St. Vincents. She went there and there they were giving shots! She got her shot but what a day! Her 2nd shot will be at St. Vincents.
|
rmd2, If your friend had been reading the Daily Sun, she would have gone to St. Vincent to begin with, as they have been announcing that for days. I agree, though, that communication from GMR itself is sorely lacking, such as the Saturday appointments.

I had an appointment at the college on the 5th to get vaccinated. Under 65 but with underlying medical conditions as certified by a physician on Florida forms. Was turned away because I was under 65, and that it was "an IT problem". Never mind that Desantis had expanded policy to include those under 65 with underlying medical conditions, and there wasn't a line to get vaccinated, I was told no. Wasted an hour out of my day, went to Walmart a couple days later and got vaccinated.

.
. ...Just back from St Vincent Church to get my 2nd shot. My appt (today) was at 2:30. We arrived at 2:15. The entrance to church was backed up about 20 cars deep from both sides of the street. Cop directing traffic - funneling. Very slooow going. Finally made the left turn into the entryway, 15 min later. Here's the bottom line - after so much serpintining etc etc all around their lots. FINALLY got to the (only 2) shot stations at 4PM, then the 15min wait after. I asked several cops that were (standing around...) Why the long lines - most said 'don't know'... FINALLY got the answer from the ONE guy checking people in - bar code, license, appt confirm, He said the 'old' GMR at the college was Tues<>Sat. (but shut down last Friday) This one is NOW Mon<>Fri. So they had to handle the overflow from the last Saturday's appts into today (tuesday). Niiice. My first vacc up on 466 took about 30 min to get thru. The Wildwood location (for hers...) was about 30 min too. So this turned out to be a FUBAR (check google or Saving Private Ryan for definition). LOTS of angry folks - waiting One hour 45 minutes, like me. . . |
Because the new state guidelines allow for people under 65 at extreme risk to be vaccinated the site allowed me (multiple major co-morbidities) to sign up. I was sent an email and made an appointment. When I showed up today and went through over an hour of snaking through their lines of cars, I was turned away because they are only authorized to vaccinate 65 and over at that location! Talk about a major FU!ðŸ˜

Been waiting since 5 am January 15th. GMR cannot clearly communicate as to where I should go this Saturday. Maybe Sumter College. Maybe not. Don't call us, we'll call you.
I'm considering other options at this time. I'll cancel Saturday with GMR if that helps others in their quest. |
First of all, I'm thrilled I got my first shot. But I have to say, the communication was lacking. I got a message on Sunday that I could now get my shot. I did get the pop up that said another vaccination site was at St. Vincent. But my print out told me to go to Sumterville.
If they would have said... "As of 3/8 the Sumterville College site will no longer administer COVID vaccine. If your registration lists the Sumterville site, please go to the St. Vincent site." How hard is that? I went to Sumterville because my print out tells me to go to Sumterville. I didn't know if there was more than one site giving shots. When I went to Sumterville, there were NO signs ("go to St. Vincent"). People had to walk into the college to learn the site had moved. And there were many people who came to Sumterville... because that's where the print out told them to go. |

. As an addendum to (Post#51) our experience at the GMR St. Vincent's location yesterday. Another reason there was such terribly long lines of cars waiting for their vacc - the car lines (started on the street that St. V is on) serpentining - went from 3 funneling down to 2 down to one up to two then down to one (for us at 2:30 appt yesterday - 1hour :45 of idling and crawling). At the -near- end there was ONE person taking the barcodes/ID/Appt details. Then the final stage was 2 -TWO- tents with med folks delivering the shots, which very surprisingly went really fast. My first shot was on 466, waited only 20 min in line and there was 5 tents/deliverers. The Wildwood location where she went twice same - 5 tents. So that's why I was so surprised, and yes angry, at the new S.V. location. Nonetheless happy THAT'S done- and good luck to everyone else. stay healthy. . . |
For those with Saturday (3/13) appointments....per the newspaper this morning....given a day early....
so Friday will be a very busy day with longer lines.....unless they scheduled Friday appointments lighter anticipating the Saturday pull up.....frankly based on past experience, GMR has demonstrated they are not capable of thinking/planning that far ahead. Once the Saturday issue(s) are out of the way GMR should settle down to a daily routine for scheduling and operating......unless they move again!!!!!!!!! |
No word yet on time for rescheduling Saturday to Friday. Same time different place maybe? Friday will be an adventure for sure.

Wife and I had vaccine this morning at St Vincent De Paul (GMR). One hour twenty minutes from the time we pulled in to when we left including the 15 minute wait after the shot. Very well organized on site. Not one hiccup. Put on Roy Orbison and The Royal Philharmonic sat back in the car and chilled. I did call it the world's slowest road course event. They keep you snaking around mostly in double lines. Everyone around us behaved not trying to cut each other off when merging was required. That happened when we got back onto 466A. We haven't been down to southern area for a while. Traffic horrendous today at noontime.

The paper said Saturday appointments will be honored on Friday. So , there will be double the people there on Friday. Late appointment times , could be in trouble.

. Just like yesterday - when they not only took care of Tuesday's appts, but the full boat from Saturday because they closed Sumterville on Friday and moved them. Make certain that you have enough fuel in your vehicle, drinks, diapers (if needed), nice relaxing music, and especially a LOT of patience. Esp if they have only TWO tents for the actual shots. At one point yesterday (we were over an hour into crawling/idling/waiting by then...) a walking med person came to each car asking how many need shots. Looked as if he had a handheld counter, then I became very concerned they would run out... . . |

Then we are done with GMR!!! :clap2: |
GMR reached out to me...
NOT! I'll be in that traffic jam tomorrow (Friday) along with all the other Saturday appointees. |

I am scheduled on Saturday. I went a 3:20 today and there was only one other car. They would NOT give me the shot. Said I was welcome to come back on Friday. I spoke to the supervisor and he held firm. Stupid but what are you gonna do?

Without knowing the above until later this morning we went at 9 AM as we were advised Saturday appointments were to be done Friday. We were in line and on our way out at 9:40 AM....the line was maybe 50 cars...moved very expeditiously...everybody working smartly and courteously. As I have said before GMR gets an A for operations performance. As for communications, the information in the letter above was known to GMR decision makers more than a week ago... Waiting game is over and done...now to ease back to a more normal life style. |

I think what some on here don't understand is our concern that we had our original shot and are having difficulty determining when and where we'll get the second due to location and hours of operation changes. It's not like we can just go anywhere for the second shot. Like you I'm satisfied with the on-site performance of GMR but not their communication. I too will be at ease once I've received the second shot. |

My wife and I went to the GMR site today for our 2nd shot. It only took about 5 minutes. No line. I was AMAZED!!

I was there this morning. It was the joining of a mass of both Friday and Saturday appointments. Need I say more? |
if you guys got your 1st shot, & are not sure when the 2nd will be, can you just go to a different location or chain-retailer for the 2nd booster? is something like that even possible? & who keeps track of your paperwork? thx for reply
