Love your positive attitude. Hope you are feeling better. We went on a cruise in May and no issues. But now that cruise lines are allowing people onboard without vaccinations however must be tested (not sure of the 'home tests allowed'), I'm a little more hesitant but that's not going to stop me from going soon!

This virus is endemic now so we must learn to live with it just like we live with the common cold and influenza viruses. Go on your cruise and enjoy. Yes, there will be plenty of non vaccinated people on board and yes they will crowd the elevators and other common spaces on board. The ships are sailing close to, if not, full capacities now.

With a two shot regime to be "fully vaccinated", having only one shot does not qualify an individual as "fully vaccinated". Sorry. They come up short.

I would like to thank everyone for this lively discussion on this thread that I started. I'd also like to thank all of you who have wished me well.
Very sincerely,

Touché, coffeebean, and thank you.

Also, I'm surprised that the doctors and others among the posters here do not accept that medical knowledge is always changing and updated. What was purported as truth in the past has always been susceptible to change due to experience and further research. I know people will debate that on a political bias. But my husband and I haven't had the flu in 30 years since starting the flu shot, and we've managed to skirt Covid so far.

My brother and I received the first doses of polio vaccine in Pittsburgh. There was never a doubt that our parents would deny us that. Did they take a chance? Yes. Could further research have cast doubt upon the polio vaccine safety? Yes. Nothing is guaranteed in life, but we're still here, and yet polio is starting to appear again, why...

Thank you for the reply, I meant in the studies where they compare unvaccinated, fully vaccinated and boosted. I wonder if the unvaccinated counts include those with one shot.

Glad you are well

That is simply not true...

We were told (at the beginning) that vaccine had a 95% success rate in PREVENTING you from getting covid (the J&J vaccine was said to have a lower prevention rate). Fauci said it, the director of the CDC (Walensky) said it, multiple newscasters said it, even the POTUS said it. It quite easy to find videos of all of them saying it, on more than one occasion. It wasn't anyone "misspeaking"...

It wasn't until they found out that it didn't have that 95% protection rate that they changed their tune...

I agree with you. Too often today when someone speaks and are shown to have made a comment that is untrue, instead of apologizing, correcting, rethinking they change the definition of words.

People build straw men saying "it doesn't stop COVID" and then look for ways to prove their straw man.

And the reason more people that are vaccinated are getting COVID is pretty hard to understand, maybe it has to do with 80% of the population being vaccinated? (depending on who you believe that number varies from 65% to 90%. It also varies if you mean fully 4 shots or at least 1 shot). In any case, most (more than half) of people have been vaccinated.

Two years, and we still have all this nonsense. Now measles, polio and others are making a comeback because of anti-vaxers.

67% of the population are fully vaccinated (2 shots) 32% are fully vaxed and up to date on boosters.

But that does not address the "mutation" problem...

First of all, no scientist would ever make that sort of claim if they are worth their weight in salt. (Is that how that saying goes????)

Hi. Yes, I understand what you are saying but there are three questions you need to answer, are you wearing a mask when alone, are you fully vaxed, and do you let your dog, real or imagined, urinate on your neighbors lawn?

Let's move on ( Wondering if I will get the righteous poster saying "there are those who died and can not move on; what about them?")

I would be one of those high risk individuals. Chemo, lobe of my right lung removed, mesentery. No vaccine, but the local hospital had my onc instructions on what to do if I tested positive or was exposed. I did not alter my lifestyle at all, and never got covid. My wife and one of my children had it. My secretary and office cleaning lady had it. I did not. All of them were vaccinated, boosted etc.. Some with the boosters have had it two times. Not sure what if anything this means. Same with your being boosted and not sure what, if anything it means.
(Note: When my wife tested positive I went to the hospital as planned and was told that as of the night before they were not permitted to give that treatment.)
IMO there is no definitive conclusion concerning how effective it is. Do what you feel is right for you, try not to judge others, pray and enjoy the time we have.

Walensky told a Senate committee Wednesday that data now shows fully vaccinated individuals can't pass Covid-19 to other people. (Wed May 19, 2021 before Congress)
On March 29, Walensky told MSNBC that "Our data from the CDC today suggests that vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don't get sick."
Walensky and the CDC made many statements that then had to be walked back.

Very sincerely,

You have made a good effort to cut it off. Regrettably the thread has taken on a life of its own. It's ALIVE.
