Guess we won't have to worry about our place in line for the vaccinations in The Villages. I used six open browsers today to get an invite on the Publix site. When I finally got on, all the close spots were taken so I managed to get my wife a spot in Deltona and when they allowed me to try a second spot, I got one at the same place for two hours later....tomorrow. I was going to wait for the VA, but just wanted to see if Publix would give me another spot so I took it when offered. We have family coming down next month to visit and they have all had the virus and survived, so I had to make sure that the wife had her shot. She is really concerned about how big the needle is. I have no idea why they are using such large needles, but I am not a medical person. I have given plenty of shots though, and give one to her every month and the needle is very small. Maybe someone on here knows why the vaccination needle is so large? And thick as well as long. No wonder folks are sore when they do it. The idea is usually to relax your arm as much as possible before they insert the needle and it won't hurt as much.

Good grief, where did you hear the needles were really big? I received my first dose with a tiny little needle that I didn’t even feel the injection. Relax your arm at your side and let them do their work.

The injection was painless for me. The pain at the injection site came a bit later and persisted for about four days. A week after the injection, I developed redness which lasted just under a week.

where exactly is the drive up site? I am new to The Villages.

Hello! I wonder if someone could give me some advice. My dad lives in the Villages and registered for the vaccine through GMR. They have sent him a 5 digit code a couple of times on his phone. Could someone who has done this tell me what that code is for?

I received first dose of Moderna yesterday at the Sumter DOH site. My appointment was made by the DOH from the list set up by GMR. I was one of the very next people appointed to get a vaccine through GMR when they ran out of vaccine doses. So Sumter DOH did pick up right where GMR had stopped. We just now received the opportunity from GMR for my wife to sign up for her first dose. She was on the GMR appointment list ( not the registration list) just a day or two after my original appointment with GMR. She is now appointed with GMR again, but for tomorrow and March 4. So they are apparently going in order of original registration.
