My acting group have all had Covid. I've been with them and do not get it. I use nasal irrigation, and that may be the key.

OK. Then the question becomes should US society use "NASAL IRRIGATION" to combat Covid or should the people go with the advice of the MAJORITY of Doctors, medical scientists, and the CDC and get their shots? Nasal irrigation sounds like using "ultraviolet light" somehow. And it is some type of fallacy......like......I have NOT caught Covid and I wash out my nose regularly THEREFORE nasal irrigation prevents Covid infection. Maybe there is a lady somewhere
that always wears red shoes and swears that is the reason she has never gotten Covid.

I believe that I will go with the advice of the CDC over "nasal irrigation".

I'd be interested in reading peer reviewed studies that show symptoms are reduced in vaxed individuals. The lack of transparency creates suspicion on all sides.

Another risk is that even if you have a mild case, you have still have risk of long COVID.

The majority of available studies on the long COVID are demonstrating the vaccinated are reporting lower incidence of long-term symptoms and life changing events.

Association between BNT162b2 vaccination and reported incidence of post-COVID-19 symptoms: cross-sectional study 2020-21, Israel | npj Vaccines

Vaccination with 2+ doses of BNT162b2 was associated with a reduced risk of reporting most of the common post-acute COVID-19 symptoms. Our results suggest that BNT162b2 vaccination may have a protective effect against longer term COVID-19 symptoms.

We have been told so many things that I no longer discount something without looking into it deeper. There are many publications, including scientific, that state nasal irrigation could, may, and does prevent the spread of covid. The government conducted trials that showed nasal irrigation AKA Nasal lavage reduces the severity of covid symptoms and may reduce covid morbidity. Would like to see the final paper. Medical College of Georgia showed that people performing nasal irrigation were more than 8x less likely to be hospitalized. As with most papers, including those who say being fully vaxxed may reduce long term covid, we need to look at the data.

Other than funding (in this case from the Annenberg Public Policy Center) what qualifications do fact checkers need to have, if any?

I think that instead of getting the booster shots, which seem to be suggested every six months, I'll just wait until they get the daily booster pill out. No, I am not saying that one is being tested or even in the works. I just decided that since they are going to call for booster shots every six months, I figure that someone will eventually come up with a pill to alleviate having folks go through the side effects of the shot. Of course, maybe some folks do not believe the shot was effective unless the shot resulted in great misery. Nope, the covid vaccination booster pill will be the way to go. Take it as a vitamin supplement and stay healthy, will be the slogan.

Phones, fax machines, e-mail addresses, a reliable computer, credentials that allow them to access data from their sources, paper, pens, printers with enough ink to print out pages, and probably a desk would be helpful. Critical thinking skills are a good thing too, I imagine.

You don't have to be an expert heart surgeon to know that the heart is an organ of the body that your body needs to function. You just need to know ENOUGH to be capable of looking up facts, and have a few critical thinking skills. That way you can dismiss the sources that insist that the heart isn't a vital organ, humans don't need it, they're actually symptoms of deadly disease, and human hearts should be removed at birth and injected with kerosene so they don't spread disease to the surgeon.

Fact checkers can also be computer constructs, they don't necessarily have to be people. It depends on what facts the fact checker is tasked with checking.

My opinion is that you should do a lot of reading and then you will realize that the CDC has analyzed MUCH more data than you (ONLY ONE LAYMAN) ever can. The CDC has teams of medical scientists on its staff. One inescapable fact is that the UNVACCINATED people are being hospitalized and are dying at a rate many times greater than the VACCINATED people! That's a FACT not just my opinion. Google it!

I can’t believe people take medical advice from a bulletin board. And 4 out of 5 dentists recommended a particular toothpaste

We can do this thread again!
Nearly two years, and still running:ohdear:

Well, it IS a life or death decision, especially for the over-65 age group. It beats a thread about dog poo or a "can someone fix my garage door" type of thread, which only interests one or two people.

There is another danger posed by the anti-vaxxers. Individually, they may get lucky and NOT be hospitalized or DIE. It is selfish of them and detrimental to society as a whole. Because they may be asymptomatic and may be spreading it around to older people who DIE or younger people that have other health conditions that in concert with Covid cause them to be hospitalized or die. That is why in the more patriotic past, there were mandates for vaccines that were designed to serve the greater good over the spoiled, selfish few. And just try enlisting in the military and saying you are special, you are an ANTI-VAXXER.

Sounds like the same old, same old. Perhaps it would be easier just to start a Poll every time the subject of vaccinations comes up?

I was pro-COVID vaccination until my sibling was told at a physical appointment, three weeks after the COVID vaccination booster vaccination, that a heart murmur was detected. Numerous heart tests were arranged and performed after confirmation of this new murmur. Long story short, murmur disappeared after 5 weeks. Who knows how their heart was affected during that time. After my Moderna booster, I was sick for a week. Both of us are reluctant to receive the current bivalent booster.

I think you can rest assured, neither of those reactions were reported to the CDC.
