Age has nothing to do with the risk factor. For example a 90 year old in perfect health is not in the risk category.

That example has been repeated over, and over ………….and over. :ohdear:

Thank you, Doctor (I assume). You need to straighten out the government, the CDC, and the medical community while you're at it.

Yeah...about the same odds as being hit by a meteorite on the course...you convinced me, no more golf.

That still NOT zero. I sure you can’t stop why you’re posting. Golfers are NOT special, even though they think they are.

Nope

Today, The Villages Rec. and Parks News alluded to the probability that pickleball might be in Phase III “Beyond the Month of May and Successful Completion of Phase II”. That is assuming that “ The District could include the additional openings of outdoor facilities and activities as well as the phasing in of District Support Services” is talking about pickleball.

Hopefully, we may be able to play sometime before the fall and a return of the virus.

Wearing gloves during this activity or any other sporting activity only increases the risk of spread. Unless you dispose of or sanitize the gloves after each use. Any virus would live all of the folds and creases in the gloves to hang out! Unless you take them off without touching the outside yo just moved any virus to your hand. Best bet is to play the game, and sanitize your paddle or racquet after the match and keep you hands away from your face and your fellow players! This advice came from a CDC friend who is pretty high up on the food chain!!

Exactly - most people do not know how to use gloves correctly/effectively.

Another option is to carry hand sanitizer In your pocket and use it before and after touching something.

Thank you for the thoughtful response(s) but if "liability exposure" becomes the primary concern then they won't reopen for months..."assumption of the risk" should be a sufficient defense for the developer...wearing gloves won't protect you very much since you will likely touch other parts of your body with your glove...using outdoor exercise equipment is arguably much worse than touching a pickleball.

My point is that we have reached the point of diminishing returns on this lock down approach and entering the causing more harm than good phase and we need to move on.

I believe WE, under guidance of the Gov, are opening in PHASES.... Phase 1 starting Monday. Just because PB is not in phase 1, they are trying to open in phases! When Irma hit, pb courts were 'locked' and advised not to be used. What happened? People couldn't follow any rules, cut the zip ties and played!

Cause the hurricane passed. I don’t think could play in hurricane winds.

This is ridiculous. Common sense, scientist have already stated how much the UV rays from sun deteriorate The threads of the virus. I’m a retired physiologist and understand in depth of vaccines, and viruses. With the amount of space on a pickleball court and amount of players in that area is minimal . If everyone on the court washes there hands on site and wipes the balls being used the ability to catch the virus is less likely than winning the lottery.. and yes we are paying amenity fees for no amenities. Where is this money x thousands of residents that isn’t being used going. No expense on balls, maintenance , staff to handle job responsibilities related.. sad...

MichiganKid 05-01-2020 11:53 AM

Pickleball less activity than walking, you obviously are a very low level player or never played..and staying in the home is physically detrimental, not just psychological ,, no sun light is very bad..

MichiganKid 05-01-2020 11:55 AM

Villages dont care, free money, there similar to a health club, you pay monthly weather your using the facility or not...

Seems you might be the only person that understands this virus. Seems all the international docs and scientists are still trying to understand it. Why aren't you offering your expertise to them to help us all rather than wasting it on here talking about pickleball.
