Heater for golf cart questions
I would like to get a heater for the gas golf cart. I hear people use propane but is it safe? Does it heat well?
I heard you could install an adapter and get an electric heater but that it draws alot off of your small battery. Any comments? Anyone have info or recommendations? |
I have a propane heater. It fits in my cupholder. My torso and hands are quite cozy. If needed, a light blanket takes care of my lower half. The only real disadvantage is that it takes up a lot of room and prevents you from using empty cup holders next to it. Other than that, I like it and feel quite safe using it.

If there are four cup holders, do you end up with at least one that is usable?
There is no way the thing can explode? Is there a reason you didn't look into electric? |
Depends how close together your holders are. If you'd like, I'd be happy to let you try it out. Just send me a PM and we and we make arrangements.
Considering that I smoke, especially when driving, I'm really not worried about it exploding. I don't trust electric add ons on carts. Have heard of too many fires because something was wired incorrectly. |
They do not sell the butane heater in any Ace Hardware, we went yesterday to buy one
|
I have had mine for years from up North. Try golfsmith.

I was more worried about the propane being a problem. I hadn't considered the electric being a safety issue. That's so kind of you to offer Redwitch. Sending pm

Does it really get cold enough there to use one? I was about ready to sell mine to a buddy before I move there; I'm now reconsidering. |
You probably need a heater about fifteen days in the winter. I've been known to drive from one end of TV to the other in my cart more than once in a single day. During the winter, I do need the heater and so appreciate its warmth. I'd bring the heater. If you decide you don't need it, you can always sell it here.

I have the Coleman and love it when it gets a little cooler here -- well, my wife like it more. It gets the cart nice and toasty and we love it when playing golf to keep our hands warm.

We have the Coleman propane heater too. Have to strap it down with bungies to keep from tipping out of the cup holders. RW, do you have the same issue?

I tie mine down with a light bike cable ... To make it harder to steal. |
