Gas vs. Electric ranges in Courtyard Villas
 

The Courtyard Villa houses I viewed only have electrical ranges. Is this standard or can you have a gas range put in.

:) Where were the houses you viewed? Some areas has gas and some don't.

If the neighborhood has gas piping to the house, you can install a gas range. If not, you can install an underground propane tank and install a gas range. That would be an expensive way to go, but I have seen it done in The Villages.

Not counting the new areas south of 44, in the established Villages I believe they stopped installing gas in 2007. That is around Bonita Blvd., as you go west it becomes St. Charles, but then they become newer. Stay in the middle, probably the Village of Largo and north of that would be gas.

A lot of people may not like to what I'm going to say-but in a real senior citizen community all electric is way safer than any residence with gas appliances--fire hazards, being one, no house being all electric has ever exploded-- I wish our house was gas-but if either my self or the Admiral got to the stage ,where we could not be adept in the kitchen gas is an accident waiting to happen--many years ago we had a cat streak across a gas range, his tail caught on fire & the Admiral grabbed his tail before he set the MBR bed on fire

If you have electric only take a look at induction ranges.
Very efficient and more gas like control of heat(ing).
Yes it requires induction type cookware (must be magnetic).

We live in Liberty park, we have the option of using gas or electric, but Duval just east of us is electric only! If you are between 466a and 44 electric only, you would have to have a propane tank buried in you yard If you want a gas stove, also we have a whole house generator which is run by natural gas! You should check what kind of furnace they have, gas or electric!

Seems to me the problem is the cat, not the gas.

A few years ago we owned a patio villa in Duval in Crestwood Villas just off of Buena Vista. The villa has gas appliances.

If there is gas in the area you are liiking there is already a gas hookup in the kitchen also your A/C is already gas. If there is no gas in your area the answer is no.

We would have preferred gas, but the location we wanted to be in was electric. Didn't matter a lot. Cooking/baking is no longer a priority. With 2 people I use small appliances most of the time. Eggs or pasta are easy on an electic stove-top, as are stir-frys. Unless you're a gourmet cook, I think you'll find it doesn't matter.

Houses were exploding in The Villages with gas. So a wise move to go Electric. It seems they would build one with gas the next electric.

Once tried it makes plain gas and electric so slow and dated.

Duval is gas. I live there.

I didn’t realize that whole-house natural gas generators are allowed in The Villages. Where do you have it in your yard.? They are LOUD! I think if I had one, I’d make a deal with the neighbors that they are welcome to come camp at my place if the electricity goes off.

I’m a new owner. Does the electricity go off often at The Villages from storms? Would a generator like that be worth the investment?
