Leprosy

A recent CDC report indicates that a growing body of evidence suggests central Florida may represent an endemic location for leprosy.

Leprosy | Florida Department of Health

I would like to see a link for that CDC report.

World Leprosy Day: Bust the Myths, Learn the Facts | Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) | CDC ????

This is what we get for letting any and everything walk into our country without venting them. Diseases, drugs and who knows what else.

fishon 07-30-2023 07:37 AM

TB is walking across the border unchecked and bussed all over the country.
Who should we thank?

Oh NOOOOO!!! Leprosy! Unclean!! We need colonies now, preferably well offshore!!

Okay. So the panic is out of the way. Let's look at the reality.

First of all, the reports I've read. is that central Florida accounts for 20% of all new reported cases in America. Sounds horrible, but Central Florida has a population of 8,359,609 (Wikipedia), and the total number of cases is a whole 181. Put another way, that is 0.002% of the population. "Minuscule" is the word that comes to mind.

Second, Leprosy is a CURABLE disease. "The currently recommended treatment regimen consists of three drugs: dapsone, rifampicin and clofazimine" (World Health Organization).

Don't know about the rest of y'all but based on that, I'm not quite ready to consider moving to (say) Iceland...

Must be true -- You know, it's spread by the only other species on the planet that gets leprosy, armadillos!

And get this -- we saw a whole family of them rooting around in our back yard this week in the middle of the day!

It probably has something to do with this being the hottest summer in Florida since before dinosaurs roamed the Earth. CO2 levels rise above 0.04% and suddenly we've got Armadillos with leprosy frolicking in Florida on a 100 degree afternoon!

It must be a Sign of the End Times!

Some good representation "between the lines" for what "C-D-C" really stands for. What color loofa for Leprosy? Asking for a friend.

Blackbird45 07-31-2023 05:46 AM

Let's open a leprosy colony at Spanish Spring Square

And after the Covid lies and mess you'd believe the CDC? They want to make sure no one else wants to move to Florida. If there was such an increase just where do you think it would come from...Hmmm let me see, maybe the millions of illegals just walking through our borders...
