Has anyone ever seen it snow in the Villages?

It appears we will be getting a close call tonight as it is forecasted that Jacksonville, and possibly Gainesville, could get a wintery mix. Before buying in the Villages, we rented for a couple winters at Myrtle Beach and we got snow and freezing rain and the golf courses had to close. That’s when we decided that we needed to go further south.

no snow

No snow, but we did have a bit of marble sized hail a few winters ago. It melted quickly.

You may see it tonight? Won’t bother me none I don’t plan on getting out.

Been here going on 15 years and haven't seen snow. As for Myrtle Beach, we lived there for 11 and a half years, and spent many more winters there. Right now as I type, they're experiencing a light wintery mix, and could get a few inches of snow overnight. Many events for tonight and tomorrow already canceled. We saw one storm that dropped 8 inches of snow. It was pretty but didn't last long . Our winters here are much warmer overall than SC.
You made a wise decision.

Yes, we have seen snow in The Villages. Not a huge amount but there just the same.

Saw a few flurries in 2011 or 2012 but zero accumulation.

MikeVillages 01-22-2025 03:43 AM

Occasional flurries but no real accumulation.

January 2010, Village of Hadley. Very light snow, just enough to cover the rooftops. You could see some flakes in the grass, but most snow there melted immediately. Rooftop snow melted by about 10:00 am.

Looked like it last night, but I didn't bother going out to be sure. BRRRRR

Every January...right about the first...there are a lot of snowflakes that show up in The Villages. They show up along with even more snowbirds!

All of that snow makes The Villages a lot of fun in the winter!

In 1974 I was working on the 22nd floor of a building in Fort Lauderdale and we saw snow flurries one afternoon. No accumulation of snow on the ground but it was cold enough for flurries 200 feet up.

According to the Weather Bureau, Sumter County has never recorded any snowfall. Their caveat was they did not record any periods of trace amounts. So, it is possible in the past that people saw some kamikaze white bugs which did not stick.

Thank you, didn't calendar the exact date at the time but yes.. it did accumulate on the grass too by our home. I think it was gone by 11:00 AM but it was lovely.
