Barking Dogs in CYV???
I have read on some of the posts that there are a lot of barking dogs in the CYV sections that could potentially drive you crazy if you are not use to it. I have dogs but I do not let them bark and therefore I really don't want to listens to someone else's. What do the CYV residents think about this issue?

I'll this this turns into a dog poop thread within the next two posts. Wanna bet?

Barking dogs in CYV
We live in a CYV and two dogs reside next door to us and one dog across the street. Occasionally we hear them barking but not often. We live on a golf course and when the dogs first moved in they did bark more frequently, however once they got used to seeing people they don't bark at the golfers.

I live in a CYV neighborhood and at least 50% of us have dogs. Our dog barks once or twice to be let in, as do the dogs next door. Haven't heard a peep from the dog on our other side, but she was fairly recently adopted. The walls/fences probably do block noise, and there is no dog behind us. I never notice the dogs 2 and 3 houses down barking, although they must once in awhile.
I have heard a couple of dogs on the next street over bark a lot sometimes, when dogs are being walked past their house. I think those dogs used to spend more time in their garage, now I think they are kept inside more, probably due to the barking. Owners are snowbirds so they were not in the garage in hot weather. Don't think it's a problem anymore, so either the owners realized it or the dogs just got used to being here. If you should have neighboring dogs who bark a lot, I would let the owners know, in a nice way, that they are barking a lot when they are gone. Maybe they don't know. Most dogs are inside when owners are out and about, and if a dog occasionally barks when people pass by, so what? Certainly if constantly barking dogs are a problem that the owner, when advised, is not resolving, then it's time to get Community Watch involved. I would be a lot more concerned about constant loud parties on someone's patio or lanai. An occasional loud party is fine with me, especially if I am invited :). We are not talking loud rap or rock bands here. |
It is not just CYVs, but the reason it is more apt to happen in a CYV is the dogs can be let out unattended. Same can happen in lanai or birdcage.
Sadly, with many issues like this, the answer will depend on your neighbors. We back up to a CYV that has two dogs, When these dogs are let out, they bark. The duration is never more than 10 minutes, but one of the times is often between 6:45 - 7:30 AM. If you talk on your lanai on a nice afternoon and the dogs are out they will start barking. Yes we have made the owners aware that it bothers us...... If my dog barked at 7AM I would be so embarrassed. She would be on a short leash until she was trained. I can never understand people that let a dog bark and bark and not think (or worse not care) it has any affect on their neighbors. It would be the same as letting my dog go into someone else's ya.. <not gonna happen Figmo :1rotfl:> |

We just taught our dogs to poop all at once when they were new. Now they don't ever have to poop anymore. Whew... glad we got that over with. Oh, oops... almosot turned this into a poop thread.:icon_wink:

Well if you think about the percentage of buyers getting these homes because they own dogs there is a greater likelihood of hearing dogs barking.
The community I was at for the last few years had "no dog streets", we couldn't even walk our dog on those streets let alone own one. Personally we should probably not lives our lives around our pets it should be the other way around. But it's not. We're passionate about the animals we chose to share our lives with. |

Loved our dog blind and hard of hearing so barking was not a problem. But when we rented a cyv the noise factor for us was too much so we chose something different, just our life style
