72 sex offenders

Just a heads up for those who think life in the land of the ethical generation is criminal free or that all crime in TV is committed by another generation.
The following is a map showing the locations of the 72 sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of LSL. Quite a few are Villages residents.

The Sumter Cty Sheriff's website will give you all the info on these people. And these are just the registered ones

Laurel Bay Lane seems to be popular. Two in the same block!

As a former child protection agent, I'm glad they have to register and be locatable.
On the other hand, you can become a registered offender by having relations with a
17-year old age mate and forgetting to break up before you celebrate your 18th birthday.

When my youngest was in kindergarten, 28 years ago, she would sometimes kiss the boys in her class. She would be labeled a sexual predator in this day and age !!

ANd many are younger folks living with their parents. In the thread that you are referencing I didn't state that there was no crime here, but I do say that there is comparatively less crime here than most places in this country.

Depends on the state. Most states, age of consent is 16. Some states also throw in a caveat in regards to age of offender.
The age of consent in Florida is 18, but close in age exemptions exist. By law, the exception permits a person 23 years of age or younger to engage in legal sexual activity with a minor aged 16 or 17.
794.05 Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.-- (1) A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, "sexual activity" means oral, anal, or vaginal penetration by, or union with, the sexual organ of another; however, sexual activity does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose Florida code, Title XLVI, Chapter 794

But nice try.

Be on the alert, especially if you are under 80 years old

:( I didn't write that.... you did! :ohdear:

I think we have to remember that in all three cases the number of people who married their cousin/sibling at age 12 are excluded.

Hellooo, most of the offenders are not located in TV.

Golfingnut 08-01-2013 01:21 PM

Wow, I would have thought there would have been more than shown. One more reason to live here. 100000 people and less than a dozen offenders. You won't find better stats than that any where in the world.

Birmingham is the nearest big city. But since it is so important to you, I'll change it to North Shelby County, as I'm sure everyone will know where that is.
