TOTV MEMBERS GET TOGETHERS
 

It seems that there are members who want to meet up with members at one time or another. How about setting a time and place and have a get together at some restaurant once a month or the like? The short birthday meeting we had on the spur of the moment was just a few but such a great time was had by all and I'm sure by now, we could manage many more attendees. What say? Who's game?

Most Clubs seem to meet once monthly at a specific time. I hereby propose that the TOTV Chat Pack 024 meet for lunch at 1 PM on the 3rd Friday each month at Crispers in Southern Trace Plaza. It has both outdoor and indoor seating and is moderately priced. We could have our first Chat Pack lunch January 18, 2008. ;D Understand not everyone could be available every month, but it would be a start.

And what's wrong with meeting on the historical side? ;D We do have some very good restaurants that certainly could use the business.

We do need to make sure that whatever restaurant is chosen would be amenable to a larger-than-normal group meeting there monthly. Some restaurants really aren't geared towards this type of thing. Some have back rooms just for it.

Get the feeling I'm assuming this get together is a given and will happen?

Wonder if we could get one of the rec centers to let us meet there? :a20: Why do I think that ain't gonna happen?

Based on the size of members we had in attendance in November,

whatdayathink about combining it as a monthly birthday party for all those who are having a birthday that month.

We did have so much fun celebrating Red's birthday in November, even though I put her in the hospital.... but she still had fun, right Red.... ::) ::)

Maybe if we all posts our birthdays on the TOTV calendar, we'd know whose birthday to celebrate each month (not our age, just the date!!)

Barefoot, should we also post the get together dates on the calendar as well? This way we could all shoot for those dates to be in TV? Whatdayathink???

Kath, you are right that turnout may not be large at first, (based on our last two coffee dates). So Crispers should work for Chat Pack meetings. 024 (love that smilie). Crispers seems to have quite a bit of seating inside and out. If we do it at 1 PM the lunch crowd should have dissipated. It is on 466 which should be fairly central for the southern and northern folks.

Kath, yes, by all means, you should post the get-together dates on the calendar. Great idea. I didn't even know there was a TOTV calendar which is strange as I've spent 5 days and 8 hours on this website (I hate to even think about all the productive things I could have achieved in that time!!)
Celebrating birthdays, I don't do that anymore, I just celebrate every day that I'm glad to be alive. 040 But sure, if people want to post their birthdays, why not?

Looking forward to meeting new friends on January 18 and saying hi to people I've met. Kathie, Nonie and Donna, I miss you all, see you in February! ;D ;D

Good idea Barefoot. If the crowd gets bigger than we'll look for another place. But at first, Crisper's is a good starting joint. Since we know that Tal goes to Crispers, maybe we could convince him to come along.!!!!

I tried to post the first meeting on the calendar, but wasn't sure I was doing it correctly, so if anyone knows the correct way, I'd love to have some suggestions. Know what you mean about spending too much time on this puter. all my chores are so backlogged. Thanks goodness I'm retired, or I'd get fired...

024 Greetings Chat Pack!
Last night I had to pack my computer as the movers came and took all our belonging to The Villages today, so I missed our chat. I am using my sister's computer toay, and think the monthly birthday meeting is a terrific idea! :beer2:
We will be arriving on 12/28, so we'll be there for the first meeting, too!
Actually we will be driving from NY on my birthday (12/26), so I'll be missing out on any celebration, but I will be getting the best present - retirement in The Villages!

But, if you're going to call it the Chat Pack, I hope you won't exclude folks like me who don't participate in the chat room, but do peruse the pages almost everyday!?

Everyone should wear some sort of home-made name tag with their TOTV identity on it!

There are many people who don't participate in chat room but who are still members of the TOTV family.

I, myself, am usually very quiet in the chat room and just observe what's happening ,

I really hope this get together happens. I thought a few months ago there were posts about "girls" getting together for a night out. I don't think this ever happened unless I missed it. I also am never in the "chat room", however not a day goes by that I do not read TOTV. I did not attend the picture taking event at Starbucks, mostly out of shyness, but there are times I feel so lonely I look forward to meeting so many of you. Count me in!

MSNPA: I think you're referring to the "slumber party"?? The good news, it hasn't happened yet. That is supposed to be in Feb. but definitely consider yourself invited, (provided you really are a girl, we have a lot of guys trying to push their way in, but no-go).

And, as far as being too shy to come to Starbucks, I wish you would've told me,.... I'm the designated driver for shy people and will pick you up whenever you want to come to one of the festivities so that we can all walk in together.

Oh dear, you won't be lonely after meeting us.... we're all in this together (right, girls!!).

MSNPA, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your shyness. I really am too and I would love it if another shy person joined our slightly nutty group. When I do go into chat, I sit in the corner and listen and laugh but rarely speak, so Please come and join us in chat some night and we will sit in the corner together and gossip about everyone in there. (just kidding) Please join us some night and be sure to join us in TV for our get togethers.

Hi, can anyone come? We've only been here about a month and a half and would love to meet new people. We hardly have any people on our block yet! :o Perhaps my husband and I can join you if that's OK, or if it's private I'll understand. Please let me know. By the way, about what time does everyone chat? I caught it a couple of times in the chat room, but mostly I'm too late. And Nonie, I can't thank you enough for your thoughtful messages and concern. Chels ... If you can read TOTV, you can come to our get togethers. You don't even have to post! I would say the requirements are that you truly like the idea of living here (loving it would be better), that you are willing to at least smile at us (you can be shy and quiet), that you read TOTV.

Chat usually starts between 8 and 8:30 in the evening, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. Some talk a LOT, some say little. Some stay for a long time, some to just say hi, some drop in and out. No matter what, we have fun and kid around quite a bit.

I plan on being down to get my first look at my new house for a few days during that time in Jan till I make it permanent after I retire in March. Count me in for the January meeting. :bigthumbsup:

I'll be in TV in January for the 3rd Friday but not Tuesday. Looking back on the posts I see Friday :dontknow:
