Immigrants to be Housed in 'Suites' Near San Antonio
Apparently, we are now not only the most generous country in world history, but also clearly the dumbest to do something like this for people who enter here illegally.
---- Immigrants to be Housed in 'Suites' Near San Antonio Immigrants to be Housed in 'Suites' Near San Antonio | KRGV.com | CHANNEL 5 NEWS | Breaking News Breaking Stories Updated: Jul 31, 2014 12:32 PM KARNES CITY - Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Friday will open a refurbished detention center three hours north of the Rio Grande Valley. The Karnes City center will house women and children who entered the country illegally through the Valley. The 532-bed facility underwent a massive renovation to house women and children. The center housed only adult immigrants in the past. Immigrants will be at the facility for an average of 23 days. The feds said the immigrants will be referred to as "residents" and the rooms as "suites." The suites are furnished with flat-screen television sets and landline telephones. The center has a soccer field covered with artificial turf, ping pong tables and a weight room. A charter school nearby will provide schooling and access to a library for the immigrant children. |

Am waiting to see how many more of these folks NJ will get once the 3 Atlantic City casinos close at the end of the summer! I bet there will be some of our initial allotment of 1,500 will be disappointed they had family to receive them!
You can bet if I were a homeless Vet in the San Antonio area I'd get my butt over there and make a fuss about getting one of those suites - and make a bigger fuss if I didn't get one! I'd be a media feature story! |
I read in some newspaper that immigrants were brought to Apopka. Wonder what they are doing there??
|
the silent majority is getting what it deserves.
Illegals being allowed into our country being benefitted by lawless politicians giving billions of tax dollars of freebies away while America's homeless, poor, less fortunate, disabled vets and other overlooked Americans get nothing close in benefits. Where is the outrage? Only those directly affected in the border towns or towns where these illegals are being dumped. The rest of us who are not affected (yet!!!) go merrily on our way. But we will ALL be affected in the not too distant future. Our future generations will pay the price in many ways we would not stand for. The silent majority!!! |

"Laughingstock" is a better word for what "our" elected politicians are knowingly committing and accepting "on our behalf". And the people coming here, just as we would if in their awful circumstances, are called illegal "aliens". Look it up in the U.S. Code (statutory law). "Alien" comes up with 1,234 occurrences. Political correctness is erasing the true concepts of what is taking this country down, mocking the laws made to protect our nation's integrity. |

The situation today is so similar to what happened in Miami in the 1960's when the Cubans started to arrive. Fidel Castro emptied his prisons and leper colonies, and look at the mess we have today. |

Would it be better to have the women and children housed in 8x12 jail cells with a single hanging light bulb? I doubt if any of the people on this forum would choose to stay in a refurbished detention center for 23 days. |
In my view, instead of spending money on housing, food, medical care and drivers licenses, the moment illegals are discovered they should be returned immediately and directly to their source of origin and on the way back home they can fed them and help with their heath care needs.
given the state of our economy, this upside down immigration policy Washington scandals and our inept foreign policy blunders Congress should never have been allowed vacation. Politicians are no longer farmers who need to go home and tend to their crops. This country is going to hell in a hand basket and these jokers all want to get some golf in and lay in the sun.:rant-rave: |

Whatever happened to the Texan idea of calling out the Texas National Guard for the "Bayonets On The Border" plan? Was it scrapped or what?

I don't have an answer or solution, all I know is that I thank God that I don't have to send my child to another country in order to keep them alive. Of course it's not a good situation and as a country we are forced to determine the right thing to do, not only to keep our 'real' citizens happy but to also be humane. I am appalled at the actions of many people, people who profess to be Christians. I have never, ever seen hatred like this. You try living in one of these 'suites'...picture your child there, alone, afraid. Heaven forbid they should be able to play ping pong. Let's punish them. Let's see, what would make you happy...dirt floors, gruel, rocks to play with. Is it the 'flat screen' tvs that bother you? Would it be ok if they had old tube type tvs? Maybe they shouldn't be entertained at all....they don't deserve it...they aren't American. Let them wallow in filth and stare at the ceiling until we can toss them back over the border. Yep, that's what Jesus would do.

What we are witnessing right now is mass hysteria and hyperbole created by politicians. The illegals coming over the border are placing themselves in harms way making this journey. I understand the reasoning behind your comment but I respectively disagree. Illegals need to be sent home immediately and then if they still want to come to America, then come through the front door |
Well said, Trish!

Ok, I'm going to ask a question I asked before but nobody gave a direct answer. Many of these folks are children that came here with other children. In some cases, the oldest was 10-12 while looking out for brothers and sisters as young as 4. NO ADULTS, where do you propose we send them. They are children for goodness sakes.(adults are a different argument) Wouldn't it make more sense to take these children in and SHOW them why America is excellent? Take them an educate them so they could become thriving contributors to our society. Teach them to love this country as much as you or I do. Or.........send them back and to a country that doesn't want them, won't cloth or feed them, has no standard of living and will eventually teach them that we are evil?

I am not alone. Over half of the U.S. population on both sides of the political aisle feel as I do. |
You're right Gracie. In a perfect world they should be with their mommies. But, as you have asked, what kind of mother sends her child away like that. I see this as a golden opportunity for us as a nation.
As far as over half the population agreeing with you, I would really reconsider whether that is a good thing or not. (Remember our elections every four years) ;0 |
What I would post would probable get me banned for life on Talkofthevillages.com. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Try living with your children in an area filled with drug cartels and poverty...you know that no matter what you do your children will end up either in drugs, victims of sex crimes or dead. Do you really, by ANY stretch of imagination, think that because these people are impoverished their feelings for their children is less that what you feel? I'm sure that most of these mothers feel that their hearts were being ripped out when they had to say goodbye. Historically, people all over the world had to watch their children leave to find a better life. There was no agenda, just sacrificial love on the part of our ancestors so we could enjoy the life we have here. The monies spent on these children is mere fraction of the tax money the politicians are squandering. The arrogance and entitlement of some Americans makes me sick.

Let the illegals be returned to their homes or to the families who are supposed to be here to receive them; and let the rest of us try to better the lives of the less fortunate who already live among us. |
Im with you Trish. Im amazed of how many self righteous supposedly God loving people are out there with these easy answers to very complex issues. We have heard them spout off before, "let em starve", " bomb them to hell", " if they dont like it send em back to where they come from". I remember a guy named Hitler who had a easy "solution" to what he considered a complex issue.

I am afraid you paint with too much of a wide brush an immigrant by any other name is not always an immigrant. sometimes they are called illegal aliens and they need to be properly processed through the front door as have millions upon millions of people before them. And finally just think that but for those legal immigrants this world would have never known the greatest and most generous nation on his earth since the beginning of time God Bless you and America |

WE didn't do it. WE didn't bring the slaves here. WE didn't harm the Native Americans. WE didn't keep slaves, WE didn't fight in the Crusades. THIS IS NOW AND THE ISSUE IS NOW. My immigrant grandparents had to have a sponsor. My grandfather was indentured. People who entered this country legally in our lifetime had to be able to take care of themselves. We aren't able to run our country in the black as it is. We cannot take in every soul who is not doing well in the rest of this entire world. WE cannot afford it. WE may feel very bad, but we can't fix all of the woes of the world. I do not like to hear that those who are against the present mess are painted as unkind and unfeeling. We have more than we can deal with right now in this country. We need to focus on the people who live here first. http://americanfreepress.net/wp-cont...y2-300x231.jpg AND I would listen to the people who live in Texas where this is happening. Not someone like me from Ohio. Ohio and Michigan and Indiana and Kentucky have very few immigrants from the south compared to Texas and the border states. AND I blame President Bush for first allowing the laws to be ignored |

Don't believe everything you read.
Imagine you're a 3- to 8-year-old child. You're totally on your own without adults.
You are asked to walk from Houston, Texas to Minneapolis, Minnesota on your own with no food or belongs to sustain you. Then you're asked to walk an addition 100 miles past Minnesota. Could you do it? · How long would it take you as a 6 year old? (That's the minimum distance these poor, helpless little ones have supposedly walked from Central America to the border of Texas)... again, on their own. They didn't get lost. · And they survived the journey without help (unless you buy in to the notion that a destitute out-of-work family run out of their homes by gangs and living in squalor somehow came up with $8,000 to $10,000 for EACH child to pay a coyote to take them to the border). · · How many days would it take for a 6 year old to walk 1220 miles without help, directions, food, sun protection, etc.? Once again the US Federal Government is LYING to us. Someone created and implemented this problem, and the media should be figuring out who it is. |
As I have said before, I am a very compassionate person but there are some things that just aren't being thought through. I was born and raised in Texas My daughter in law is a third generation American. She is also the first person in her large family to speak English. She is the mother of 3 of my grandchildren. I love her and my grandchildren. I am NOT racist. I would love her extended family too except I can't speak to them and get to know them. The wedding was stressful for all due to the language barrier. She was born in a small border town in Texas that today is still 92% Hispanic. Most living there are below the poverty level. These people have not assimilated to the US way of life even now. It makes any type of success far more difficult.
I posted earlier about the Orphan train that came to being because of an over abundance of immigrants in the Northeast. People could not get work because there were too many competing for the jobs. Parents sent the children (over 200,000) out to the Midwest on trains (called Orphan Trains)'because they could not feed them. Many very young were adopted by childless families and lived happily ever after. Most were no more than indentured servants. Many were physically and sexually abused. I see history repeating it's self. It is BECAUSE I have compassion for these children that I feel this situation must be stopped". |
"The immigrants will get medical screenings. Children will receive physicals within 24 hours of arriving at the center and women within a week.
"There is a dentist on site," Lucero said." Our veterans and their widows and orphans would love to have received such prompt evaluations and treatment! (CNN) -- Roughly half the schedulers at multiple Veterans Affairs hospitals said they received instructions from supervisors to falsify data and hide the true time it took patients to be seen by a doctor after making an appointment, new details from an internal VA audit show. Schedulers said supervisors directed them to manipulate information so their centers could meet performance goals, which would help top officials get bonuses, according to documents obtained by CNN. More VA employees said they were told to falsify data - CNN.com |

This is really a simple problem to solve, but the easy pitch to compassion and “they’re children for pete’s sake” trumps it on the emotional level. If you agree the best thing is to prevent the problem, here’s what the USG should do. 1. Apply political and, if necessary military, pressure on the Mexican Gov’t to stop the transit on their southern border. 2. Post our National Guard on our border and physically prevent any and all illegals from entering our country, in concern with the Border Patrol and state agencies. 3. For those illegals that get across, a logical step is to then put them on a boat, cross the river going south, and then put them on Mexican soil. Why has no one done that? 4. For those illegals that have to stay in the US until they can be deported, put them up in tent cities in southern Texas and do not fly them all over the country to put them up in facilities that, in some cases, include tennis courts, flat screen TVs, hair salon etc. This is idiotic beyond description, especially when our country is broke but that’s another topic. As far as no one wanting to stay in the detention center, I think you’re wrong. There are all kinds of American citizens who would indeed choose to stay there because they’re broke. As one example, I would much rather fly a bunch of poverty stricken minority kids from war-torn Chicago and let them stay in a faculty like this, than illegal aliens (which is the correct legal term by the way) This whole topic has descended into never-never land. The obvious reality is … it’s national suicide to have open borders, and we need to stop this craziness. |

Just to be clear......I am not unsympathetic, nor a racist, nor whatever the term that applies here. I say that because it seems that nowdays no matter the issue, there is some label to describe all of your "badness".
The thread is about the use of certain facilitities...I get that...the counties have to do what they have to do. Someone mentioned about the medical attention they will get...GOOD....trust me, disease is crossing the border. Actually, there are a few hundered dead bodies that have been discovered in Texas of folks who did not make it. What I want to know......SINCE EVERYONE KNEW THIS A FEW YEARS AGO, HOW DID IT GET TO THIS POINT ? Not accusatory....I just do not understand how it got to this point. Can someone speak to that please !!! |
